This is something I discussed with a friend who I usually play with, but I came up with an idea of PanO getting another skirmisher as a potential Helot unit. In most respects, it would be similar to the Hunzakut as an irregular skirmisher but with a variation of TO camo that gets downgraded to regular camo after you leave the marker state.
Something of the sort (save for changing HD to TO Camo in general), yes. Mostly for the fact that there would be Helots working with Varuna forces and would be akin to a skirmish/counter-insurgency force in some relation.
I don't think we are likely to get that level of Fireteam flexibility. I'm not sure we'll see that level of Fireteam flexibility anywhere outside of NA2. It's kinda their 'shtick'. I'd expect "Limited TO" to work more along the lines of "Hidden Deploy, then Mimetism" as an upgraded version of "Limited Camo".
Im also highly skeptical of the idea that the varuna fusiliers will have limited AVA, mostly because they are "varuna" fusiliers
Not as far as Im aware, the only TAG we "know" varuna will get is the Cutter. Personally Im hopeful CB does another Stingray series TAG for Varuna, like the Schooner, or perhaps even the eponymous "stingray" Not sure what they could do with it in regards to its movement skills, we have a Super jumping TAG, A climbing plus TAG and a Camo TAG already. Perhaps a mech deployment TAG? though most of my own ideas are things Id like to see more in sval than varuna
Isn't it weird that the Kamau, a regiment with a Kenyan name, are enforcing colonialism? Is this one of those ironic hipster things? Squalo is technically the base chassis, with the "Squalo" regiment being the (a?) Heavy Lancer Regiment. So I don't think it will. But who knows.
why? they are total in vanilla and Varuna is the faction they come from, they arent auxiliaries in that sectorial like they are in the others
To be fair, it's actually not all that different from running an Uhlan and a Squalo together I wouldn't have thought. And, good call on the name @RobertShepherd
Aldos point about the "Squalo" name being akin to the name "Stingray" is a good point as well. IE PanO TAGs have the chassis designation, Narwhal, Squalo, Stingray, and the regiment designation, Heavy Lancers, Jotum, Cutter. We just call the Squalo the Squalo because its the generic TAG. Probably puts weight back on the Squalo not being in Varuna, anymore than say the Jotum will be I guess.
That's fair, but including the Squalo would be another good way to reinforce the "standard army" feel of PanOceania. You'd have the Fusiliers, ORCs and Squalo appearing in multiple places (basically, barring MO which SHOULD look and feel very different) which would give the right setting "feel". I'd certainly not call it compelling, but it might well be the case.
I'm just looking at Infinity Army, but aren't they all designated like that? Do the books have different designations? "Squalos, PanOceania Armoured Cavalry Heavy Lancers" "Tikbalangs, Armoured Chasseurs of Acontecimento" "Jotums, Svalarheima Armoured Cuirassiers" "Seraph, Armoured Cavalry of Military Order" Regardless, I need to start calling my Squalo a Heavy Lancer instead. It sounds way cooler.
It's compelling enough to be my motivation for asking. It's weird to always go to NCA for that generic feeling PanO army of Fusies, ORCs and Squalos. Also without the highly technified NCA HI and better ORC profiles it might actually be a competitive list.
Concur. Regardless of what Varuna looks like (and I am excited for it), better or more varied ORCs for NCA will be highly welcome.
Word is that the new ORC profiles wont be available outside of varuna. Dumb as shit but par for the course for the PanO design. Money on them being in an upcoming MERC sec?
