You say yu jing is being too prideful in their reaction, but that's the only way to deal with such a rebellion or the next group will try some shit and so on. Yu jing lost but there is a difference between going down fighting and giving up cos its easier, face and the saving of is a big part of Asian culture.

    You're doing it again...
I am sure the raw data won't look bleak at all.

I never mentioned the campaigns, so don’t strawman me.
There’s a huge fucking problem when the forum moderator is the most outrageous shill who apparently can only argue disingenuously.
It’s terrible CR when the CB team leaves it up to @psychoticstorm, @ijw, @A Mão Esquerda & @Teslarod to sell Uprising to unhappy players and they do this by saying that YJ players are whiny entitled crybabies who can’t read and can’t play for shit anyway. Maybe @Bostria should be a brand ambassador instead of trolling customers.

CB would do very well to check out the Paizo Pathfinder Playtest forum, to see how people who actually have a fucking clue manage customer expectations, build hype for upcoming products and actually engage with the community.
The moderators moderate, not shill. The developers (and there’s more than one) post in threads, engage in discussion, reassure posters and speak about their playtest experiences. This has turned some extremely negative posters into cautious supporters of the new edition. That’s amazing considering Pathfinder is a houseruled D&D 3.5 sold to people who vehemently resisted change. The whole Paizo shtick is “no change” and to bring the naysayers on board with a pretty radical change project is quite amazing.
Anyway, I’m pretty sure that Paizo will be getting my hobby spend for the rest of this year, instead of CB. That’s a shame for CB since I have the entire non-JSA YJ catalog, a nascent MO force, all of Onyx, all of Tohaa and I’ve bought into Nomads preparing for Tunguska. I should be hyped, but instead I’m disappointed and ambivalent toward the game. Maybe next year. Maybe not.

Considering you're hellbent both on shilling for CB and attacking me at any chance you get, whether it makes you look woefully uninformed or not (see: Joan of Arc was totes a knight guys. I feel it in my bones!), it's pretty easy to disregard what you say too.

And hey, I said I like the Daiyokai when other people were talking shit. It's a cool model.

Well you can either complain that their reaction makes them villains or accept they did what they had to do, not both, what I said is their decisions and reactions were correct but taken one step further because of pride and showing so much pride is a potential weakness that can be exploited.

I am sorry I cannot predict data on how many people will actually join and play as Yu Jing, if I could predict the future so well I would be making a living out of stock-market, joking aside indeed I do not know and there is no possibility to know how many people will fight for JSA and not Yu Jing in the next campaign, so we have to wait and see.

The reaction that would have been appropriate wouldn't have involved ethnic cleansing, it would have been actually fighting back against PanO when they started a war against them. The point is... the next time PanO wants something (mining rights on Dawn, territory on Svalarheima, w/e) PanO knows they can just kill some Yu Jing citizens and Yu Jing will give in.

I understand that but as other posters have pointed out the "wait and see" response is wearing thin. Perhaps maybe acknowledging people worries that yes a decent portion of the Yu Jing base did in fact only play JSA (since it was quite easy to only have JSA with only ninja and remote crossing into vanilla) and those people will either be playing for NA2 or whatever factions they also own from now on will lead to Yu Jing numbers tanking a bit. Or perhaps say nothing idk.

The point is if Yu Jing player numbers tank, so we eat shit in the campaign and if that then transfers into eating shit in the resulting fluff again its going to cause more upset. If yu jing loses even 20% from wotan we would have been 3rd to last barely beating aleph by one point and toha by 200.

It is a logical worry, I just do not have an answer at this moment and cannot predict what shifts there will be in the next campaign.

I mean, I accept that we can't know for sure but we CAN predict.

What’s particularly frustrating and/or amusing is that when Yu Jin almost inevitably do terribly in the next campaign, you can bet it’ll be written up to even further hammer in how much the Uprising cost them in-setting, whereas in reality it will show much much it has cost the faction in actual players and player satisfaction.

Just agreed among the players on the campaign forums normally. Or more accurately, at least in my experience, people put themselves forward and nobody cares enough to say yes or no.

Don't worry, lads, when the campaign completely guts Yu Jing yet again, PsychoticStorm will just tell you to wait for the next book or something because CB can do no wrong even if evidence shows otherwise.

How else do you explain the nation that gave us Sun Tzu and Chairman Mao completely ignoring their words on how to win an insurgency? Either psychoCrane is piss-poor writing, or he's been replaced by a Kempeitai or Speculo. And apparently the entire Imperial Service went "Caedite eos. Novit enum Dominus qui sunt eius," so it doesn't appear to be a single infiltrator, or even a low number of infiltrators.

Nah, you can usually request for a duty station. Needs of the Service if you actually get it, though. I lucked out and got my first choice, but I was fairly senior in boot camp and top of my class in both A school and Sub school (which usually gets you priority on actually getting your choice of duty station). But another guy that wanted East Coast and was on the lower end of school rankings ended up getting sent to Bremerton with me.

    1. Apparently, the powers that be decided that O12's Security Council will not have a single-vote veto like the UN Security Council does. This is generally a good thing, since it allows stuff to get done despite PanO, Haqqislam, Nomad, or Ariadna protests. This time it bit YJ in the ass.

    2. You don't throw a nuke around unless you're not planning on using the land afterwards. Modern nukes are at least 5x stronger than Hiroshima/Nagasaki, and some are 100x stronger. The insurgency wasn't lost until O12 acknowledged Japan as a separate nation, so there was no reason to nuke before then. After Japan was a separate nation, well, nuking them would have resulted in ALL the penalties.

And you don't want to be the nation that is first to use nukes in a conflict. Not when someone can punch a 100,000ton starship up to a hundred kilometers a second and drive it into your capital city. (That's called a dinosaur killer, btw) You'd better believe that would be high on the surviving Secessionist Navy's priority list if Tokyo got nuked (or just rocked), because it was my sub's standing goal to make sure that anyone who nuked the US didn't have a country left.

    3. Because it was to YJ's advantage to not allow PanO to own the whole planet outright. As for why PanO and YJ haven't 'removed' the original settlers? They'd be fighting a terrible insurgency against both the settlers and the antipodes. Can't nuke or bio/chem the place because you want to use the ground later.

    4. Because in YJ the Party needs to be in control of everything. They're competing governing methodologies, mutually exclusive at that. PanO is a corporatocracy disguised as a democracy (government run by corporations/lobbies).

I actually believe that. I mean, right now Japan has 10% the population of China. Once you add all the other nations that make up YJ, that drops a bit, but not to less than 5% of the population. And basically half-or-more of the Japanese population got left behind, so that's ~2.5% of the population in "Free Japan".

The question then becomes how much of YJ's gross domestic product was created by the Japanese that left. So it's probably 2-3% of Yu Jing's GDP.

Also a very good reason why you don't want to try and blockade another super-power's air space in their own territory. Particularly when that Super-power doesn't have any national territory or interests on Aconticimiento or Neoterra (examples chosen entirely at random)

Not to worry Psychotic, thanks to bayesian inference we can make a predictive estimate.

    https://www.infinitythegame.com/blo...statistics-analyzing-season-8s-organized-play
Here we can see the number of ITS registered players per faction that played in season 8. 466 Vanilla YJ, 275 ISS, 266 JSA. These data show that last year over 26% of players that played Yu Jing armies played JSA. This is the most conservative estimate possible as it's very unlikely that Uprising will result in players leaving JSA. Keep in mind that there were JSA units used by those Vanilla players. It's reasonable to suggest that because vanilla lost a significant number of unique profiles (including 5 characters) that there will be less players choosing to play them for the next campaign than there would have otherwise been.

On the other hand we do not know how many of them will play in the narrative campaign and how many play in the narrative campaign as the faction they take to play in tournaments, it is a base on estimation and I used it to write an answer then thought that in my group and many groups people play different armies in tournaments and different in narrative, so I really cannot make a prediction.

The data from the campaign in relation to the ITS statistics will be interesting to see, but we do not have those data yet.

Are you seriously going to pretend you do not understand what you have just been told.

Vanilla+JSA is two numbers added together to get a total.

When you take away the JSA you get a smaller total number.

This is true for ALL data sets where Vanilla and JSA are two positive numbers (no longer) added together, even if we don't actually know what those two numbers were.

    The end.

Largely valid speculation that Vanilla might see an enthusiasm hit is just icing on the cake of fairly inevitable math.

Why pretend you don't understand this?

    You understand this.

Stop pretending, it's embarrassing to watch.

Would you like a new community relations manager. I'm totally unqualified. It would be a step up.

Very well then, I will explain what I said even thought I do not or should not need to explain it.

I played mostly CJC the last couple of years and vanilla Nomads in all campaigns I played PanO MO, one of our players plays Onyx, he is a Tohaa main and plays Tohaa in campaigns, some players do not participate in campaigns.

It is not a necessity that ITS and campaign participation aligns, maybe many people played JSA in ITS because they think they have an advantage in their local meta and play a completely different army in campaigns because fluff, maybe people playing ITS do not participate that much in campaigns and people who do not participate in ITS participate in campaigns.

You can make some educated guesses from ITS participation but the reality can be vastly different, maybe the drop will be big, maybe the drop will be small, maybe Yu Jing participation will be bigger because fluff Yu Jing players will rally for the campaign, I view all these unknown factors as too random to make a prediction.

I understand the concerns about faction pool irregularities though and I want to see it been discussed.
