why on earth have a list with a sole hexa MSR in a single group its an invitation to lose two orders playing first.
Here's the thing. Even if you ARE up against a Camo heavy list then you are STILL better off without the Aquila. Why? Because MSV3 is a trap. Even with auto-discover it's too much of an order sink against anyone running enough Camo to be worthwhile. And that relies on them leaving valuable units out to shoot after your discover. In reality the Sensor sweep by the Pathfinder(s) and Fugazi (dropping Sniffers) that you are already taking (because they are our best fast specialist and order source) anyway are by far your best answer to Camo in numbers. And once you have them revealed the Spitfire Deva (or Black Friar Multi Rifle) are better at the short range hunting you'll be doing to dig them out. Now, is the Aquila terrible? No. But you shouldn't just put one into your list without considering the role you want it to play, and if you couldn't get the same value out of something much less expensive. . . . Now, when SHOULD you run the Aquila? IF your opponent loves long range Camo/TO or ODD equipped ARO pieces then the range of the HMG along with the MSV make for an effective option. Especially if your opponent regularly takes two or more such units. But that's a narrow niche, and one which 62pts 2SWC is a lot to pay in order to fill.
I definitely like list #2, I have a lot to learn about this army, I'm so used to tossing smoke and moving up the board. I'll have to change my mine set on this one. Once again to everyone, thank you for your feel back.
Great feedback by my esteemed PanO colleagues. This might help by the way: https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threa...ermoptic-camo-nca-at-the-las-vegas-open.1517/ The first list there is a pretty common framework for what I base a lot of my list structures around. The Swiss can be yanked out for either multiple cheaper units, or a different loadout (like the Assault Hacker.) It's a good example of how balancing power pieces with high Order pools, with the real value of the list being all the great units in the 8-27 point range. Those cheaper units do a ton of work, and really saturate the table with threats. NCA definitely helps you appreciate the strengths of things like Smoke, basic Infiltrating Camo units, mines, chain rifles, etc. That being said, every other faction feels a little bit less dangerous, a little more incompetent in a gunfight after you've handled NCA for a while.
NCA is the "sledgehammer force of Infinity". Find the enemy, punch him in the face, keep punching until he stops moving, next target.
because its still a TO MSR, the List has 100 pts off table so people are going to be packing it expecting a Swiss ML and costing 2 orders for those advantages are really a minor point. Particularly when you have 2 Beatstick HI like the Aquila and Swiss and 2 links
As a CHA player myself I can tell you theres not so much difference as youd expect. Both PanO and CHA are hyper aggressive forces, PanO has to rely more on killing in reactive turn due to smaller order counts but it absolutely has the tools to do it. Lead with your Guns instead of your Gals and you'll be right
Oh ha, I was thinking specifically in the line of aggressive attack. You can get your linked shotguns, but you probably won't be storming the opponent's DZ with them. Though the Peacemaker's good for getting both a shotgun and a template into the enemy DZ, love that unit.
i used to do that a lot so asked when ITS 9 came out (because of Reduced Combat Group), apparently the number of groups is open information, so even if it doesn't show on the courtesy list if your opponent ask you have to tell them you have that second group
Actually I did storm the enemy DZ with bolts, they are surprisingly durable and deadly with shotguns and their BS is not a trivial thing, must be more though that my opponent totally disregard bolts as a useful unit. @Make PanO Great Again :P Yes, Groups are open information no hidden surprises from that.
Note: I say this as a player who loves bringing Bolts at times and thinks they have their uses. I'd say wait until you get some games with NCA as is, running mostly a Fusilier link team. Which means hold out on the NCA starter and go with the vanilla starter for now. For a Bolt link, here is one I like to run that is more about close-range fighting and locking down the enemy. Neoterran Capitaline Army ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 5 BOLT Missile Launcher, Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 27) BOLT Spitfire / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 24) BOLT Boarding Shotgun, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 19) BOLT Boarding Shotgun, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 19) BOLT Boarding Shotgun, E/M Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 19) 3 SWC | 108 Points Open in Infinity Army This tends to be one of the more cheaper options if you are planning to take two SWC weapons in the link team. While you miss out on drop bears, E/M grenades are just as good at shutting down remote presence units and breaking apart opposing links. As well, they can accomplish some missions like Hunting Party. ML is there for being an reactive turn piece, while your spitfire is your main weapon to attack with.
In my meta it became automatic to ask, where does it say that you have to divulge it yourself? (so i show it here, we have a small tournament in a month)

You must share Open Information about your Army List while you deploy your models during the Deployment Phase, and also any time your opponent asks during the game. Everything not private your opponent is expressly allowed to know, it is on you to share that, honestly and truthfully, dissembling, hidding or ignoring this means you are cheating
