Man, the grass really does look greener on the other side of the fence. Do you know that other factions are jealous of Corregidor and its joked that nomad sectorials are spoiled. They have all the tools to handle any mission. No, they don't have all the best units in nomads but they can handle any mission.

I'm actually not sure I like the Mobile Brigada special link. Simply put, including 1W units into an HI link just creates weak points for the opponent to target first. And the MB special link is still very expensive. The riot grrls seem superior.

Having the tools to do any mission is kind of nomads thing... we just don't always have the best tools especially when we are corregidor. But yeah some people will complain about anything =p

I agree re riot grrls being stronger than brigada. I think the special link will be better than the five man link though, just because it only takes half your points instead of two thirds so you can fit more stuff to support it.

Agree 100%. I´'m blown away over the possibilities of a Stealthy mine tossing AD guy. He´s StarCo's opening salvo and autoinclude in my view. The only annoyance is his lack of SF to really entrench himself, but otoh will he most likely be within range of his CQB weapons once deployed.

Really wish Tomcats were available - it'd be good to get doctors and engineers dropping in upfield - but we have quite a few options for getting specialists into midfield so it's not too bad really.

Raoul makes a great DZ rambo, even with a shotgun. Dropping or tossing mines with his first few orders, going for the most annoying spots (cant shoot the mines without them going off, etc), before holding up somewhere for a cheeky engage is something im really excited to try out.

Here's one to try out.. idea being to bottle up the enemy in their DZ while specialists take the midfield.

Thank you guys for all the replies!
For me the main take away messages were to try a bit harder to fit Raoul into a list (didn't work) and to use Riot Grrls (worked).

So yesterday I had the chance to play two games of supremacy against to very experienced tournament players and both of them ended with a draw.

    Game 1: Supremacy vs. ISS

    My list:
    [IMG] Order is King
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    GROUP 1[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]7 [IMG]3 [IMG]1

My opponent fielded a two group list with a Red Fury, MSR and BSG Bao Harris, the Kuang Shi Core, Hsien HMG LT, Kanren, Holoecho REM, Evo Rem, 2 8 pts REM and two additional Celestial Guards.

A draw is actually a pretty lucky result considering how many mistakes I made in this game. Most of them were about me misjudging how my list would interact with the table. The list is quite playable and if I hadn't messed up so much including deployment, victory would have been quite possible.

My main lesson learned here is that the Alguaciles link with Emily is hard to play right. Either you move into 24", which will require a bit of walking or you really start to use it later in game. Advancing is quite dangerous as you typically loose the ability to reform the link to 5 members after taking losses. It may still be worth it though especially if the opponent relies on a lot of REMs (I find that quite a lot of competitive builds have plenty of cheap REMs as order monkeys).
I also realized that the Riot Grrls are not effective at all in turn 1 if their group gets reduced to 5 orders due to a command token.

If I had to test this list concept again, my next try would be something like this:

    [IMG] Order is King
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    GROUP 1[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]10
[IMG] ALGUACIL Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)

[IMG] ALGUACIL MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 18)
    [IMG] ALGUACIL HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 18)
[IMG] EMILY (Chain of Command) Combi Rifle + Light Grenade Launcher (Normal and E/M), Nanopulser / Assault Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 35)
[IMG] RIOT GRRL (Fireteam: Haris) Combi Rifle, Blitzen, Stun Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 30)

Being able to deploy a MSR Alguaciles on ARO duty in a link of 5 should definitely be am improvement over the Cateran.
In active turn I can now decide which link to pour all the orders into. Either Emily and the Alguaciles abuse indirect fire or the Riot Grrls with either Avicenna or Emily go ahead and break stuff.
The second group is now more focussed on either helping out with smoke, getting Chain Rifles into the midfield or completing objectives.

Game 2: Supremacy vs. Vanilla Combined Army

My opponent was using a Charontid MSV3, Noctifier Spitfire, Speculo BSG, TR bot, Nexus Hacker Zerat FO, 3 8 pts remotes, 2 Imedrons, 2 Ikadrons, FO bot, Dr Worm.

I wanted to see how well the MB special core would work and stuck with my initial list concept for this:

    [IMG] MB Pain Train
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    GROUP 1[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]9 [IMG]1 [IMG]1
[IMG] MOBILE BRIGADA HMG / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 42)

    [IMG] MOBILE BRIGADA Combi Rifle + 1 TinBot B (Deflector L2) / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 37)
[IMG] SEÑOR MASSACRE Boarding Shotgun, E/M Grenades, Eclipse Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW, E/M CCW. (0 | 26)
[IMG] DAKTARI Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 14)

I won initiative and chose to set up on the side with a quite high sniper tower, in which I deployed the MSV2 bawlers and a Jaguar. I thought that this combo could easily win me the game given how open the table was. He chose to go first and killed my MB with Tinbot and MB Hacker with his Speculo. According to my opponent as well as me this could not have been avoided by better deployment or anything. Going first may have been a good idea though. In my active turn my Harris MSV2 MSR Brawler shoots at his MMSlvl2 TR bot through smoke and dies on the first order. Pretty bad, especially considering the opportunity cost to get his and a Jaguar into that tower by picking sides.
After having lost the Bralwer and having the core Link reduced to 3 I felt relatively out of options (table was too open for e.g. the Hawwa to really do something). I was a bit surprised by the Irmandinho, who took out the Noctifer and Zerat.
Next turn he advanced his Charontid, killed my Hawwa and went into sup. fire in a pretty neat fire corridor, but also very close to a wall. I used all my orders to move the core link to the other side of the wall, intuitively place an ecplipse close to the Charontid and go into CC with the entire link. Thanks to Massacres EM damage, he entered LoL and the close combat remained with the Charontid being in NWI.
In his turn the Charontid actually was killed by the Daktari..
Aside from Massacre being the man of the match, Uhahu deserves a mention for going into Cybermask and securing a quadrant.

Here my main take away message is to always go first against combined. Even next to ideal deployment will not keep a Speculo from doing painful damage. Also shooting a TR bot before it gets buffed is probably a good call.

In terms of list building I am not sure if I really want to change something. I'd try something like this, but loosing Uhahu and her Pitcher definitely hurts:

    [IMG] MB Pain Train
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    GROUP 1[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]10
[IMG] MOBILE BRIGADA HMG / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 42)
[IMG] MOBILE BRIGADA Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 43)
    [IMG] MOBILE BRIGADA Combi Rifle + 1 TinBot B (Deflector L2) / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 37)
[IMG] SEÑOR MASSACRE Boarding Shotgun, E/M Grenades, Eclipse Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW, E/M CCW. (0 | 26)
[IMG] DAKTARI Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 14)
[IMG] BRAWLER Lieutenant Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16)
[IMG] BRAWLER (Fireteam: Haris) Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 17)
[IMG] BRAWLER (Multispectral Visor L2) MULTI Sniper / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 28)

Here the Brawler harris can be reformed with the CSU and moved up the board if necessary. Not sure if this is a good idea before turn 3 since there is an obvious LT, but its nice to have the option.
More regular orders are also cool, but I am not sure if thats really what this list needs.
Also I wonder if the MB Hacker and Tinbot really add as much to the link as they cost.
Maybe a Core with MB HMG, Massacre and Daktari along with a Harris of Riot Harris and Spitfire and Emily or Avicenna would be a more versatile build.

This is list that comes closest to what I want in StarCo. Not really sure if it's that effective though and couldn't just be done with vanilla Nomads:

Knauf could be replaced by Raoul, but having the Regular Order and another long range weapon to combine with the Brawlers seems like the saver choice.
And btw do you also have a problem with adding the Lunokhod to a roster?

Having Irregular on AD really doesn't matter.

Yes, but since that group already has 3 Irregular units it does stretch the overall limit a bit much.
Replacing the Bandit FO with Raoul is probably the better way but I am not sure where to get the 10 points difference. 6 from one of the Zondbots plus the Warcor, but that leaves 4 remaining, and I have no good idea where to free them up. :/

If you want AD you could take a Hellcat. One advantage to having AD instead of more infiltrators is that they stay safe until you need them.

I've taken a lot of Hellcats on Corregidor, usually 2-3 between Tomcats if I'm not playing a 1 CG list. Raoul looks really good but on such a risky unit like an AD BSG getting the points so low is a power in its own. It also lets you use AD4 without risking so many points.

Basically I'm going to run a two slim riot grrl link: the core supporting Emily and her Grenade Launcher, the haris going through with spitfire and Avicenna. Knauf to cover the field from a good spot and naturally lots of smoke (to block lines of fire and provide a smoother advance).

Depending to the mission played I could switch Knauf with a Cateran, and use the spare points to upgrade my LT to a Brawler. With this composition I could use the latter one as a decoy to draw enemy fire and units (using the Lieutenant order) and taking advantage of Emily CoC.

    First list attempt, thoughts?
    upload_2018-3-29_19-10-54.png

I looked at the fireteam options and thought about trying something different. Absolutely love Spector, surprised there isn't more love for him.

Basic plan, BS2 Sputnik and TR bot set up fire lanes and healed with clockmaker. Haris team and Jags work together to drop major targets, CSU helping to keep the link alive. White Noise can be deployed to deal with pesky MSV1/2 targets

Meanwhile Hellcat and Spector drop in, Hellcat drops repeater and Uhahu and Hawwa go to town while Spector takes some names with his BSG, Bears and E/M CC weapon

After two games this week (vs. JSA and Ariadna both were won) with my previously posted List I think I'm able to draw some conclusions and do some comparisions to my home sectorial - Bakunin.

    1. Riot Grrls: With Avicenna in the fireteam the opponent has to kill every Grrl because otherwise Avicenna brings the Grrl back with ease. Also the whole team becomes a midfield dominating entity especailly if they still can delay their AROs due to SSL1. Different to my use of them in Bakunin they can really focus on their new role of midfield domination.
    2. Brawler HRL Haris: Despite I'm no real fan of Haris teams this particular team is a real addition to the build. An HRL is nothing the opponent can ignore therefore that Haris serves quite the same role my Reaktion Zond does in Bakunin: in my reactive turn they draw some of the attack pressure away from the Riot Grrls. In the active turn this team is a really good second attack piece / trailblazer (heee heee... fire ammunition... blazing... what a pun!) for the Riot Grrl's advance
    3. Knauf: Serves best in connexion with the Trailblazers (they got their name...) in the reactive turn. Unfortunately he's not reliable enough (i.e. dies too fast) and I'm still a bit salty about getting denied LeMuet in StarCo.
    4. Irmandinho: Basically a Morlock who quit his drugs and got a job - you can't do much wrong. With his ZondBot he's able to clear mines or direct AROs towards the Bot keeping himself out of harm. And actually a reaaaal competitor for the Clockmaker mainly because he's a jaguar (=regular order, smoke, badassery, that regular order to keep him from doing impetuous stuff) cheaper whilst still maintaining a solid WIP 13.
    5. CSU Specialist: to be honest that dude didn't do anything during both games but I really want to play them in general.
    6. Al'Hawwa: a bit more expensive than my beloved Zeros but with WIP 14 I'll always consider him a valuable option in future list builds.

I am amazed how quickly both of us ended up with completely different ideas how to play StarCo. I guess maybe thats caused by your lack of Alguaciles and my lack of a 4th Riot Grrl, but still funny to see.

My favourite configuration around a Brawler Harris would be this:

[IMG] Starco. Free Company of the Star
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]5
[IMG] BRAWLER (Fireteam: Haris) Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 17)
[IMG] BRAWLER (Multispectral Visor L2) MULTI Sniper / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 28)
[IMG] BRAWLER Lieutenant Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16)
[IMG] CSU (Specialist Operative) Breaker Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15)
[IMG] JAGUAR Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 10)

    2 SWC | 86 Points

This setup has a fairly well protected LT, good killing potential in active and reactive turn and even if the MSV2 sniper goes down later in the game the harris can reform with a specialist and move ahead.

    Your configuration

[IMG] Starco. Free Company of the Star
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    [IMG]3
[IMG] BRAWLER (Fireteam: Haris) Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 17)
[IMG] BRAWLER Heavy Rocket Launcher / Assault Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 18)
[IMG] CSU (Specialist Operative) Breaker Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15)

is 10 points cheaper (not counting the Jaguar and LT) and is probably best used by making an early advance into the midfield so that most targets end up within the 32" range of the HRL.

To me this seems like two very legid uses of the Bawler Harris. But how about the Harris with Spector? I could see many was of running this:

    -cheap way:

[IMG] BRAWLER Heavy Rocket Launcher / Assault Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 18)
[IMG] SPECTOR (Regular) MULTI Rifle, Nanopulser, Drop Bears / Pistol, E/M2 CC Weapon. (0 | 36)

Maybe one of those could be really attractive to pair with a slower core link (e.g. Emily and Alguaciles).

I'll be playing in a tournament today with the following list. The scenarios are Supremacy, Unmasking, and Comm Center. The tournie also allows Spec-Ops with 18XP :D

    Group 1: 9Reg, 1st regular
Emily with Combi+LGL (Norm and EM)
Alguacil FO/RPT, Alguacil, and Alguacil LT
Spec-Op w/ MULTI Sniper, Miketism, BS13, Doc, and EXP CCW (to smash consoles)
    Reaktion and Stempler Zonds
    Lunokhod w/ Heavy Flamethrower
    Jaguar w/ Chain Rifle
    Raoul (AD)

    Group 2: 5 Reg, 1 Irregular
    Uhahu
    Jag Chain Rifle
Brawler Haris, Brawler Doc, Brawler MSVL2
    Irmadhino w/ Zondbot

Group 2 exists to support with long range fire, supportware, and engineer assistance. Ample smoke should let me get off Smoke+MSVL2 to good effect

Group 1 is my assault group. The spec-op allows me to close in, and Emily takes over from there. FO/RPT for White Noise or hacks. Should be able to reliably hold the midfield, press buttons, and assassinate HVTs. Raoul exists as a situational use, but I think he's amazing for alpha strikes, HVT assassination, or taking an opponent's comm console.

That's the theory! I'll report on how it goes. As a Bakunin player, it feels weird without my Grrls. I kinda wonder if the Brawler MSVL2 really needs the Haris

Alguaciles might be next on my to buy list. I still don't like them but they might be useful mooks for Emily also they'll give me the chnce to field another Lt. than the ATM inevitable Brawler Lt. And the Riot Grrls diminish the amount of troops you can choose due to their high price.

    Brawler Haris Teams:
The reason why I like my approach is: I have a bunch of range bands covered and a variety of Bursts. Also I'm able to use different ammunition types - in particular forcing BTS saves instead of ARM saves.

IMO since you have to put that Haris guy into a special fireteam the first option is something you'd use if the original Haris team is irreversible destroyed.
The second option is basically the luxury edition of the Trailblazer team and I'm still not sure if Spector is really that better when it comes to justify the 21 points increase. Sure Raoul brings Drop Bears (in a sectorial that lacks antipersonnel mines) and has NWI but he has only a 5% better chance to successfully push buttons - the main reason why I chose the CSU Spec-Op.
The last option is quite intelligent if you see the Haris as a vehicle to get the specialists to their destination with the least orders possible.

I think StarCo has only a Brawler SpecOp option, so you can't link with Alguciles.

I guess a Raoul Haris would work pretty good with it.
A Lt. Haris Is probably not bad either when protected by Emily. There the SpecOp works like a cheap Raoul.
