I have yet to see an assault hacking device in my meta. It's either Killer, Regular or HDplus over here. I would go for the MULTI+flamer MB too, but not sure about making that my Lieutenant.
I wouldn't always but she makes a good solo specialist anyways, and can help fill an Alguacilles link. If my Geckos are doing well they usually break on the turn they activate. Duo is basically a reserved infiltration; the secondary troop gets to end up nearby wherever I decided the Geckos needed to go. So having that extra order is pretty nice, especially since I often use a Command Token to put them both in suppression and this gives me that without spending the token.
Only gun for F2F rolls is an assault pistol and only BS11, with no defensive skills besides a second wound thats easily removed with sniper rifles, marksmanship, MULTI, AP Mines and SMGs. Assault pistol is lots of dice in active turn, sure, but the range is poor. Having Emily escort her up the table a little with her riles and X-visor will at least give some order efficiency.
Finally came to a list I'd like to play for StarCo: Starco. Free Company of the Star ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 9 1 BRAWLER Lieutenant Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16) EMILY (Chain of Command) Combi Rifle + Light Grenade Launcher (Normal and E/M), Nanopulser / Assault Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 35) RIOT GRRL Missile Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 33) RIOT GRRL Boarding Shotgun, Stun Grenades + TinBot B (Deflector L2) / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 30) AVICENNA Combi Rifle, Flash Pulse / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 27) RIOT GRRL Spitfire / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 34) RIOT GRRL (Fireteam: Haris) Combi Rifle, Blitzen, Stun Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 30) UHAHU Hacker (Hacking Device Plus. UPGRADE: Icebreaker) Pitcher, D-Charges / Assault Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 25) BANDIT Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Light Shotgun, Adhesive Launcher / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 25) JAGUAR Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, DA CCW. (0 | 10) GROUP 2 1 2 1 IRMANDINHO Chain Rifle, D-Charges, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW. (0 | 8) ZONDBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) HARDCASE FRONTIERSMAN Tactical Bow, Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) CSU Breaker Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) 5.5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army Not sure if I should take the ML Riot out and try to fit a Cateran in, but it seems like it could be fun.
Also if you find yourself going second you can form the riot grrls into a 5 man defensive team just to break them out into two 3 man teams at the start of your turn. 5 man HI teams with missile launchers tend to be tough to shift.
So, I'm apparently the only person excited to be using the MR/LFT Brigada LT. That's interesting. Yes, he will die. He always does. That's why nobody takes him Nomads. However, he's still BS13, 2 Wounds, and ARM 4. His LT order means he will almost always be in suppressive fire, at no cost to the rest of the list. I'll be surprised if my opponent doesn't spend part of his first turn digging him out. All that effort on removing one tanky model and one order. Maybe I'm wrong, but I am definitely going to try it out.
I use suryats with the same profile in MAF as lieutenants often, and once I had one kill a TAG from his supressive fire position, so they're cool, yeah. But I think the cost of him + emily might be too much for me. Still something to try out at least once.
I have also used the mobile brigada MR+LFT Lt backed up by Emily and feel it works well. Unfortunately the one time I tried it the Battle kinda shifted away from the area he was holding so he didn't have a big effect on things.
The Mobile Brigada MULTI+LFT profile is very solid IMO. In StarCo he's got a high BS and is tough, flexible and reliable. With Chain of Command Emily nearby, I think he would make for a solid choice, especially as a Datatracker and especially if he was duo'd with an Anaconda to provide heavy firepower.
I've been running the MB Multi+LFT LT exclusively since I started using Starco. He's always been in the 5-man link so far but I have on occasion dropped him out of the link with the LT order to complete objectives when he's been the Datatracker. He stays (fairly) safe in the link and is useful (plus the BSG can also be an LT and I usually keep them away from each other to discourage going after the two of them). So far I've only lost him once and that was due to poor decision-making in ARO on my part (should have Dodged instead of trying to tank an HFT from a Makaul and shoot back to stop the rampage. Of course, I failed all three consecutive ARM rolls. I also failed both my AD rolls that game so it wasn't going my way at all anyway).
I have previously used him as a solo warrior and he did great. Stormed across the board, flushed out a Spetsnaz HMG who revealed in ARO to shoot him, tanked the shot, closed and killed the Spetsnaz (3 shots on 10s is better than 1 on 12s!), killed a couple of line Kazaks and then dropped into suppression fire behind a building in the midfield, essentially halting my opponent's advance. Sometimes you forget that a tough HI with a decent gun can really ruin an army. The Mobile Brigada is also cheap and gets the LFT for a bit more flexibility. I wouldn't want to run him so much without Emily's CoC, but since she's practically an autoinclude anyway...
4 points cheaper for marker state LT who also happens to have MSV2 and Combi+LFT makes it pretty much a no-brainer. Considering that the only other serious choice in Starco is the Brawler (1 SWC Alg seems like something I'd only take in the rare case I had SWC but not points AND was already taking Algs anyway), I expect the MB LT will see a lot of play.
Oh you will, and it will suck. Welcome to my hell. edit: Actually with Brawler it won't be so common. Damn mercs.
CJC lists were always such a pain compared to Interventor LT in vanilla. Rarely enough points to fit Intruder LT and be happy with the force comp, never enough SWC for an Alguacil, couldn't justify a lone and obvious Wildcat. While Starco has even less options at least the Brawler is easy to hide/protect in a Haris and the MB works well if you don't push the core forward on Turn 1. Don't really see a need to ever use the Alg here especially because SWC will still be an issue for Starco.
Still better than MO LT choices but CJC LT is still a tough choice. I do see myself using the brawler LT a lot in StarCo, but I do not have a lot of experience with it yet, so far I used the MB MR LT.
