MSV is also not the only counter to visual mods. The Vet Kazakh listed above has a LFT, and additional DTWs could be added to Line Kazakh profiles, or the inevitable new unit or two we'd see with the sectorial's release. And DTWs are more effective on small boards like we get with these 2-player starters. Just a thought.
Yup, if Kazaks had had chain rifles I would have added at least one on the propsed lists for that reason. (And yes, to whoever said it, a hacker would be needed to Aleph - either as the new unit or replacing the deva. I would have gone for Davanas, but i'm not sure we'll see another model for her unless there is a new profile... which wouldn't be a hacker.) Actually, thinking about it more, upgrading the Deva to Hacker LT (new profile) and having the 25 point unit being something new with MSV (especially something that could be long range) would be a good route to take. And as an intro to hacking, having one side impervious to hacking is a gentle way in. The only hacking that needs to be used is supportware on the REMs.
At the same time, when you've got an ALEPH-Ariadna box, there's some narrative going on there and CB has been clear they're tying new sectorial releases to in-setting developments... if ALEPH is being more assertive in operations on Dawn, either to push its own advantage or just trying to curtail increased activity by the other Sphere powers which threatens the status quo, Rodina doesn't have much choice but to 'tech up' even if its just having an AVA1 MSV1 heavy or something of the sort.
We have Vet Kazaks and Chasseurs confirmed for a resculpt, and Highlander Greys were done in the last year This means the only troopers left in the VanAriadna starter are the line Kazaks, I think this points very strongly to a new Kazak starter in the near future, either as a separate Tunguska/JSA release or a Kazak/IA/Aleph/Ramah (pick 2) Operation box.
IA is getting closed beta lists in May, which points to them being a while off... Ramah is pretty much already in the Red veil box. Aleph needs a new vanilla box, and Ariadna really needs a new vanilla box... The only other faction in need of a new vanilla box is CA, and the onyx box already pulls double duty. Although @Bostria has always specified that shasvasti isn't being done till the end of the year, so technically he never said anything about adding any new races or alternative sculpts... And there's always a chance that an entirely new faction could be added, but that would be crazy.
The CA starter is actually the vanilla starter pulling double duty as an Onyx starter, not the other way round.
I have so many DUST miniatures that are sitting on my shelf. The kickstarter killed it for my group, and we didn't like the direction the rules were going. We had some good times playing the game, but I have enjoyed Infinity far more than I ever did DUST. Still liked my zombies and walkers though. They just looked fun. Also, I can't wait for the Sakiel box! It's going to be so awesome!
*a signal pings deep in the CB headquarters* - Oh FFS. - Combi Aswang? - Nah, that one's still running, it's the Tohaa again. - When will they learn... Carlos, reset the Sakiel counter!
Could it also be, that we get Tunguska vs. Varuna in May and they just didn't tell us. I just started last year so I dont't know how they announced Icestorm and Red Veil, but it would be fun, especially for the 7th model for Tunguska ^^.
It is exceedingly unlikely since we've been shown the release schedules for May and June, and the contents of the TJC starter box.
Nope, not since they've listed the monthly releases for May and June(which includes Tunguska) The operations were teased from the start of July, very similar to how the JSA releases were this month :)
Ramah seems unlikely for one reason: Bostria said that each of the 5 new sectorials this year would be released with miniatures, and that none of those 5 would be the mere issuance of an Army list plus profiles (as we got with Druze, Ikari, and StarCo) . So far, that's taken the form of an Army Box and a starter pack. And the Ramah starter already exists... My money remains on Vedic, Kazakhs, and Varuna.
Two army packs at Gencon seems a bit much, given that that would be ~20 new sculpts (see previous comments about release with miniatures)
Bostria basically said 'there's 5 sectorials and 4 'N's on the timeline, so think of Operation Icestorm and Red Veil' in one of the seminars this year (I'm pretty sure).
I've been struggling to wrap my head around which armies they will release in a 2-player box. Because just like @chaos11 says I remember Bostria saying there will be a 2-player box this year. And sure, we don't know the order of the sectorials, but they're pretty much narrowed down to which ones +/-1. JSA and Tunguska are set. Which means the last 3 probably are among Ramah, Vedic, Kazak, and Varuna. It would feel funky to see JSA, Ramah, Tunguska, and Varuna in two-player boxes since they've essentially been represented before in boxes. Which would mean that Vedic and Kazak are up next? I like the idea, it seems pretty cool having two totally different armies facing off against each other. As shown in start examples above a Kazak-force could be made pretty easy to understand for a new player (save Camo/surprise attacks) and I guess same goes for Vedic. The largest factor in making Vedic "easy" would be that Kazaks, in essence, is pretty much devoid of hackable/hacking. So Vedic hacking would be kept to support ware and such. Releasing a "beyond kazak vs vedic"-box could mean we get to see sensor from Vedic and hackable from Kazaks. I don't know, but it does seem fairly tempting. At the same time, we've already seen Ariadna represented in an army-box. And something just feels...off with the mismatched pair. Or perhaps I'm games-workshop-scarred and can't shake the feeling that PanO are the space marines of infinity and will probably appear in most duo boxes? Thoughts?
