I thought EVE was a MMO not a tabletop game, GW did this for the first time in their life so please, also GW is a completely different entity. You cannot demand CB to give you dates ahead of time they will give you the ok when it is done and they are sure it can be delivered.
As I already told, this kind of game marketing has a lot more in common with MMO then you might think. If nothing else, there's still an excellent example with Privateer Press and their current new faction release.
Yes, they are different entities. They are, however, in the same business. And for a long time GW was widely considering Evil; they are now doing extremely well, and at least a small part of that is their far, far superior community focus. CB could absolutely learn something from the new GW community team. The point was to showcase some examples of other miniature companies. And what those companies are doing is being far more open than CB is. Pretty sure the last few comments in this thread have been demanding. We've been suggesting that it would be a good move. Please don't twist what was said.
I can request it, however, and I think even such a small confirmation as 'there will be a major YJ release in 2018' would be a good way to get the YJ players concerned about holes in the roster to be happy. Newbies who got burned by having their collection split before they had enough to run both armies are up shit creek, but that doesn't mean everyone has to be.
I view the market more in common with DLC and cosmetic upgrades than subscription based MMO, in how it behaves.
Then consider how long a company like Riot spends hyping up new skins, and how they give a fair bit of warning before they make skins unavailable for purchase.
Allright, I actually meant DLC content in that post, if you read it. There is DLC content even in MMOs you know?
To be clear, GW has changed their behaviour because they finally noticed the impact of ignoring player input on their bottom line. They're bigger. They had a lot of room to bleed off before they felt a loss. That took years, perhaps a decade, but eventually it promted them to change their approach. CB is a smaller company, it has a game with better aesthetic and a vastly superior ruleset. But it doesn't need to match their size to be able to look at them and take advantage of their mistakes before suffering through the same issues.
Heaven forbid we show a smidge of patience and wait for a company to release a finished product on their timetable, rather than insist on getting what we want when we want. Beyond that, considering CB's growth recently, and the interest in their game, it seems reasonable to me to assume they know where they want to go and how to get there. Certainly enough to trust them rather than increasingly strident anonymous players on the internet...
Ok Ill agree to that, I just see subscription MMO that have DLC and expansions as another thing from the pure DLC business model.
Just unavailable for purchase... And how they refunded runes, rune pages... Psychotic, I have respect for your work you do for the community, but you cannot be succesfull on this ground. Sorry, don't take it too personally, it's not meant like that.
Yeah, and maybe the backlash here will be felt in sales (or they'll see it in their Army stats), and CB will alter their approach in the future. Maybe. That'll all depend on how many folks put their money where their mouth is. But this ongoing obsession with what has already happened and will not be undone is just pointless. Seriously guys, I'm not saying you shouldn't be upset if you got burned, but I am saying that you should find something better to do with your time than just stand here pissing into the wind.
It's ironic. A lot of this anger would run out of fuel much quicker if certain members of the community would refrain from fanning the flames. I don't disagree that it's a bit out of hand at this point, but it wouldn't hurt for some people to take their own advice. (Just to be clear, I'm not having a go at you, yojamesbo. Good name by the way!)
DZC is probably not a great example. Hawk Wargames were a complete shambles before the buy out and currently TTC are trying to get the house in order, including delaying DZC2.0 until 2019 at the earliest.
I do wonder how distributors and sales points would feel about such "progressive" moves to invalidate stock so far in advance? Now thats some real talk about someone financially invested in CB's decisions! As much as you feel its important to voice your discontent, I feel obliged to voice that I've enjoyed the changes. As Yu Jing is my primary army I suffered all the same sweeping reforms. Personally, I'm excited for the new designs. Could they be released now? sure that would be nice.
I have no idea. There are other issues with PP (basically, they have shafted European distribution), but I would assume that distributors would either get reimbursed for their stock or have it replaced. The companies probably wouldn't want to burn their distibution bridges. Although with GW that's not so much an issue as they are mostly vertically integrated anyway. Again, I'd assume there'd be some kind of agreement made between them. Maybe CB had them return old stock and replaced it with new stuff? Or they left it as is, and the distributors will just sell it as is/at a discount?
That's not what I'm saying really. It's more that it's fun to have a lot of fun opponents out there. JSA have sided with the enemies of the state empire to build a corrupt, feudal class based society that shows why they never should have been tolerated inside Yu Jing. The Haramaki and Raiden paid the price for the Domaru's "victory" with their blood. They see us as brutal oppressors... we see them as traitors who've betrayed our ideals and sided with our enemies against us. Game on. My games at Adepticon weren't clubbing seals either - I placed 5th out of 48 and had to deal with a frontline game against hassassins - 3 fiday starting the game in the high scoring zone closest to me. I needed a little luck and a few smart tactics to get through that one. I also beat some Tohaa & Steel Phalanx as well as JSA. ISS hold up just fine against all of them. There really isn't an urgent need to fix anything - we still have great units.
Well, more they were kickstarted into oblivion and they delayed until 2019 as a planned date with releases schedule for 2018, but that's a different thread and a different discussion. I love the hell of out the dropverse, so I am a little(very) biased in that regard. As for if we have good units, I'm sure YJ still does, though I wish starter set units were a little better (Kuang Shi, please stop making zanshi garbage) but I mean, whatever. I'm sure we'll get the immortals eventually, I hope so, at least. I did all my Yu Jing troops in terracotta for a reason.
