Yes I too would like for Hecklers to be supreme bullshit, and for Hollow Men to be MOV 6-2 with ODD, NWI, Holo L3 and 2 HMCs each :D But let's just see what we get! I am excited to see how we are surprised!
Because it's the most comically underpriced and effective tools in the game and basically anything that has one is automatically amazing at nearly any price (it'd have to be 30+ pts before it was even a choice).
Jammer, Fat2, HRL, Mimetism, LSG and a chain rifle is like the same total cost as a Combi, maybe Breaker Combi. Edit: maybe drop the LSG that's like half the cost of the kit.
Jammer, Fatality lvl 2, Heavy Rocket Launcher, Mimetism, Chain Rifle Now THERE is a loadout which will live up to the name "Heckler". Throw in another one which is an Assault Hacking Device with upgrade Redrum or Lightining and that would be equally comical.
Nah that'd be a few points more. HRLs are about 2pts less than a combi that I can tell. Add Chain Rifle, LSG, Mimetism, Jammer, and Fatality L2 and you're looking at Spitfire costs. Jammers are really good. I don't think they'll be on anything we get, but I could be wrong.
If we were really deserving of Tunguska, we'd pay someone to hack Gutier's computer for the sweet sweet profiles.
I mention Jammer because it only exists on one unit right now, and the issues with that unit is primarily in its cheap point cost and relatively high AVA. But on a unit that's in the high 20s-30s for point cost, Jammer wouldn't be so bad. A Heckler with Jammer wouldn't have the same problems that Ghazi have. I think it would be great with Forward Deployment L1, to create another category for midfield skirmisher that doesn't simply rely on Camo. It would also add an additional layer of infowar capability besides Hacking, letting Tunguska interfere with enemy actions in more than just one way.
I don't want to see units with Jammer getting any kind of forward deployment/infiltration, myself. Being able to set up shop with that near an opponent's infiltrating skirmishers (including camo since the damned thing can intuitive attack) is just too much. No thank you.
If the unit's 4-2 and only deploys at the 16 inch line, I don't think it's so bad. Functionally I think it's more restricted than AVA4 Impetuous smoke-tossing Mutts. We know the Heckler's weaponry is short-range, so I think it's likely it will have some way of playing forward up the table. Also, while Jammer draws a knee-jerk reaction from a lot of players, it's a very different prospect on an appropriately costed unit. Every Order spent trying to jam vs a reset is one less order of getting blown away by multiple Kriza Boracs.
@barakiel Ehhhhh, your example means that with a move 4" ahead and second skill Jam, he'd already be able to reach 4" beyond the halfway mark. In two orders, he's well up in his opponent's business. I don't actually see this being an issue with the armies I play at the moment (OCF and Tohaa), but it could be a real problem for Ariadna with its many camo skirmishers and utter dearth of BTS. I guess I don't view the Mutts as worse because no one's ever managed to reach me with them (although I stupidly charged a Sphinx into a nest of them once, never made that mistake again). ;-) I absolutely agree with you that it's less of a problem on models that aren't dirt cheap. But I still worry. My major issue with Jammer is the ZoC thing--I don't know how CB balances these things, but I'm much more comfortable with DTWs since you have to risk being shot back at to use them. Give the Heckler an E/Marat and I won't complain. ;-)
Just defaulting back to the Mutts example, Impetuous obviously means they could be starting as much as 20 inches up the table after Impetuous moves, and there's 4 of them. I'm not terribly worried about inconveniencing Ariadna, to be fair. There's always the chance you end up spending Orders trying to isolate a useless AP mine. I imagine that Ariadna players would quickly learn to just deploy a bit further back with their Camo troops when fighting Tunguska, in the same way that a PanO player defends his TAG from an Oniwaban when fighting JSA, anyone hides their LT when fighting Hassassins, etc. Jammer is nasty, but the likelihood of an individual Jammer attack succeeding vs a reset is pretty much never a statistical likelihood. Even on a BTS 0 model, the combination of Reset and making their save plays in favor of the defender. Besides, the unit's called a Heckler. It should be slightly infuriating.
Really, Advanced Deployment isn't that bad when Mutts are already Impetuous, so move up the board that far (and potentially twice as far) as the Heckler would be starting. I agree that Jammers feel thematic and would be fine insofar as being on a more expensive platform would go. That said, if they don't have them, I won't weep for what could have been.
Implying Tunguska needs such inelegant solutions as large bulky jammers and not just some loud shouty boi intimidating you out of your order pool.
Mutts also have boarding shotguns and E/Marats, but those aren't listed on the dossier you just showed. Dossiers are rarely conclusive, otherwise we'd be seeing a lot more Kriza Borac missile launchers.
We probably will, it'll just be on a Druze-exclusive profile. You know, just to keep the forums riled up! ;-)
