Part of the problem is that other armies are allowed to have bad ass specialists; Imagine the Malignos forward observer or Jannissary akbar doctor/ it's just that Pan-O's specialty isn't specialists. In addition to that MO is even worse at bringing value specialists, because they're a very fighty faction. The TO Spec. Sergent checks all the boxes of a good specialist, they're just a tad expensive so it hurts a bit. Honestly, I think that it's just the cost of playing a sectorial! You're supposed to be limited enough that you feel that penalty while building a list, soley because the fire teams are so valuable in game. A specialist suite that can do nearly all the objectives in MO costs only 58 pts and you should still have 240 pts to play with all in all. I played infinity in N2 too and before the standardized mission sets, I think the game given enough turns just becomes a murder fest mess. and I really like what ITS has provided to the game.
A fire team. One. MO has no Harris, Enomowhatever or Triad. Plus with the new sectorial there are strong contenders even more flexible HI links with doctors, specialist, unhackable members to clear repeaters etc. Yep, problem is he will be hunted down by all those KHDs and put down without mercy (unless you at least invest another ~66 pts for at least SS2). Reason why KHDs are so popular is that they are cheap as chips while being best defence against enemy KHD and actievly allowing to hurt enemy warfare through their own repeater network. And MO is now hilariously one of the 3 armies without KHD ("unhackable" Ariadna being 2nd, and "I dont care about isolation" Morats other one).
Damn, my bad I've only checked for "Killer Hacking Device" and missed "EI Killer Hacking Device" my bad. Then it gets even more pathetic ^^
I get that MO should be restricted, but it's restricted beyond reason. Aside from Order Sergeants (people tend to dislike them, I think they make for a good LI firebase) MO has ONE link worth of note, the Hospitaller one. Either deathstar with Joan and De Fersen, or cheaper version with Magisters. Santiagos are a possibility, but they work better as a solo assault units, while Hospitallers bring more options to the fireteam. It gets boring after a while. Knights are too similar to each other, which makes those better designed overshadow the rest. Hospitallers are ok, they're a well rounded unit with some versatile options. Montesas have their place as well, because they don't compete with anyone. Santiagos are decent, though there's still design space left to make them more distinct. Sepulchre doesn't bring enough utility to the table to consider him over less expensive competitors. Teutons got nerfed out of existence and have no role for themselves except the extremely niche Joan+Teutons Coordinated Orders. Father-Knights are such a missed opportunity I can't even begin to think what CB had in mind with them. They have a few unique options, like a BTS 9 hacker, but are undergunned, unskilled, and generally underwhelming. And it would be so easy to make them useful if only design team would care. Seraph. Not only was it nerfed BY MISTAKE and upscaled to S 7, it also suffers poor synergy between Super-Jump and Auxbot. Worst hacking from between all PanO sectorials, as well as AVA 1 Fugazi. psychoticstorm recent comment about MO being basically a half-sectorial was definitely well made. Pity no one thought about mentioning this to players.
And now they are re-sculpting the MO range...great! I'd LOVE to play them, but not in this state, sorry. I would start fixing them by removing fusiliers and balancing from there.
Yea, I really thought about putting bir warning sign at the top of this thread but decided not to do that anf gave CB some credit (that unfortunetaly might change in future). Hospitallers overshadow and recent resculps bring actually intereating question. Will we see any other Orders/Knights resculped? Hospitallers seems to take prime lead, and Montesa was resculped only because ASA (and their starter). Thats interesting question for Teutons, KotHS, Santiago.
I'd argue that Santiagos don't really need the resculpts, though I don't like the BS/Combi sculpts. The running one aged really well and is still one of the best PanO models. Sepulchre and Teutons could use one, sure. As for the internal balance... I'd keep the Fusiliers, their presence doesn't harm the sectorial. I'd push knights into more distinct directions Hospitallers - left as is, they're ok. Montesas - same, though they could use a Boarding Shotgun loadout. Teutons re-made into CC/CQB unit, with SMGs, flamethrowers, Grenades, Eclipse Grenades, maybe making them Impetous and giving them MOV6-2. EXP CCWs all around, MA2 and Berserk. Great place for KHD. Santiagos are nice, though I'd love to see a Multi Rifle option, as well as Santiago Engineer with D-Charges, and a Sensor loadout. Another great unit for KHD. Sepulchre - heavy weapon unit. HMG, Feuerbach, Multi Rifle+Panzerfaust/Flammenspeer, Red Fury. Nanopulsers, Breaker Pistols, Specialist Operative (for synergy with WIP 14) or Sixth Sense L2 (makes sense for defenders). Father-Knights should be command and control units. Able to join any Core/Haris/Duo fireteam, with Number 2 instead of Assault, getting rid of that Combi Rifles in favor of something more fitting elite HI. Magisters are fine, though looking at Tankos I think their pricing is a bit off. Add more versatile linking options - Cores as is, Haris for Santiagos and Teutons, Special Core of any Order Knight + up to four Order Sergeants, Special Haris of any Order Knight + 2x Magisters, F-K being able to join any link. Specialist Sergeants - hacker and MSV2 - being made into linkable Order Sergeants. Teutons or Santiagos allowing Pathfinders, Fugazi and/or Mulebots into links would make a lot of sense, too. Fugazi AVA at least 2. Seraph's Auxbot getting Super-Jump, or changing the skill rules so it's ble to move when TAG jumps around. Now pricing this all accordingly, and voila - perfectly playable and versatile sectorial.
I agree, the presence of Fusiliers is lazy design and allows the Order Sergeants to be crippled as a result. Ditching Fusiliers would FORCE a good re-working of Order Sergeants, which would be good. Separating the Order Sergeants and the Specialist Sergeants out into separate profiles would be a great start. With the exception of the Fusiliers (as noted above) and the Sepulcher (I think they could go another way, making them a Specialist Operative generalist unit with solid CC and ranged combat potential) I basically agree with this.
On the one hand Im with admiral on the sepulcher changes, on the other hand another hmg would sure be nice.
Yeah, but that's just because MO have too few HMGs for totally bullshit reasons. That doesn't make the Sepulcher the right place to put one. Putting one on it will only make you even more frustrated that it never gets to use its points-heavy CC investment.
I do get what you're saying, but by that logic every knight's abilities would clash with heavy, longer range weapons. Unless they'd go to Father-Knights. This might work as well.
I agree with the removal of Fusiliers since that's a huge crutch. Since Order Sergeants cannot be LTs a good replacement would be some kind of "advanced" OS. A high ranking church member who is not a knight. Similar stats to OSs but with WIP14, LT or CoC profiles, the ability to link with OSs, and maybe one with Strategos.
Average sectorial tactica thread: "You can do this, you can do that. And also this thing rocks". MO tactica thread: "You should be able to do this and that. And also that stuff sucks".
I believe you are lacking in reading comprehension m8. The thread very much states . Hospitallers are awesome, tofoos rock. The rest is however composed of wishing we had viable options to that . Must be a nice problem to have to not have a need for variety
I really tried to be positive on this thread and allow myself rant on the units fundamentally broken (imho) :(
