Considering this rabid, dribbling idiot portrayal of Yu Jing is largely attributed to player conduct in the last campaign.

This portrayal has nothing to do with last campaign. CB forced it into that framework with a lot of lube because it fitted their interests. The CB partial view of the wotan efforts shows it clearly. They've picked what they've wanted and discarded the rest.

What are you planing on doing? keep whining until someone gives you a push? On that time Yujing will keep eating shit due to loss of main players and iredeemable whiners.
Are you going to let yujing keep on loosing and receiving kicks, or are you gonna show some guts and do something that might be from any use? let's show CB only good things from YJ

keep your shit together and move on. And if you don't care at all, at least don't piss off the rest of the YJ community who wants to keep on, or the new players who are choosing faction and show some interest on YJ.

A few pages old, but... have a variant (same statline, less CC tax, guns like SMGs and shotguns etc) and call them Wuxia? (ancient chinese martial heroes)

In a separate but related issue, did anyone else notice some unusual absences from the data completely?

I've looked several times and can't find Aragoto on the list of %s.

I figured they were scrolling through stuff too quickly and a few models got clipped off in the images

Trying to bully people into supporting the campaign isn't going to get you anywhere. It's certainly not going to change my mind at all.

So you do not have any evidence in the fluff that Yu Jing are evil, just what you want to believe, ok.

@Mc_Clane regardless of that, which I understand and has been discussed, I was talking about the RP the factions had between themselves and inside them (I think in Wotan there were many incidents inside Yu Jing) that is not cannon, the "evil aliance" and the "evil Yu Jing" are RP artefacts of the campaign, that are not part of the canon lore, yet the community, for some reason, behaves as if they are.

I've already done 2 more Zhanshis since uprising (on top of my 6 existing) and have fast tracked the Yaopu minsweeper to compensate for the loss of the far superior Keisotsu cheerleader, of which I had 8 painted, some in State colours. I preordered the book and los japos box. I'm rolling with the punches but as someone who has nearly the whole Yu Jing line up including duplicates and conversions, and promotes the faction in my own time with the blog, I won't feel bad about expressing my opinion on what is happening to Yu Jing.

I'm still shocked at the average 2.6 Zhanshis per Yu Jing ITS lists. I can understand taking maybe 1 in an XO Hac Tao list, but who are these people? Scrubs or fluff martyrs?

Anyway, these percentages are all well and good, but how many ITS profiles does it represent? Is it the same people using them again? If so that is going to hurt them! Telling them what they were and were not using is really cruel, and I wish everyone doing it would stop.

There is a slide missing in the images generally available. You can see the percentages after Kitsune drop to around 10-9% and then the next slide available has Shikami near the top on 4%.

Considering there was a fairly steady progression in the data that's a pretty big chunk. Main absentees being Sun Tze v1, Oniwaban (though we separately know this was around 9%) and Arogato. There are certainly going to be more but those were the ones that leapt out.

Zhanshis are going to turn up in ITS reports. Anybody who wants a cheap LT they can hide is going to pick a Zhanshi given the only cheaper LT option was Keisotsu Butai, who cost 2 SWC.

And if you pick 1 Zhanshi to be the LT, you usually bring 1-2 more to make sure you disguise him.

Then there are the brand new players. Like one of our YJ players last event, he showed up with just the Red Veil and Beyond box. There were 3 Zhanshi there because that's what he had.

That would probably be better off as a seperate unit.
Wu Xia is a very interesting part of Chinese pop culture and it would be a waste to use it as a Ninja rip off.
If we want to have a Chinese name for Ninja, we could just go with 刺客 (Cìkè).

Except that a Domaru has Frenzy and becomes impetuous and can no longer take cover in Vanilla. That's a huge penalty for a high burst shooting weapon. The Zuyong HMG is a better shot with the same armor, costs 1 less SWC for the Lt. option and has an automedikit. That's such a no brainer every single game. Oh, and he can always take cover.

Even in JSA that profile was not amazing before the rework. It was really expensive to take the full link to begin with (150 points) and if you wanted any other heavy weapons you would have at least 3.5SWC wrapped up in the link. Most of the time the Domaru link was just there for two Haramaki missile launchers. (Post rework it's amazing though because it links with cheerleaders/kempei.)

And why would you even risk your Domaru to a warband? That was my biggest complain about JSA before -- it had almost no ways to deal with CC warband units. Why am I going to risk a 38 point Domaru for a 5 point monk (which is almost an even matchup in CC?) And what kind of player isn't going to take a 1/3 chance to kill a 38 point unit with a 6-8 point one?

Well, Impetuous has its upsides (extra, non-compulsory order) and downsides (can't take cover). And as I was saying, the Zuyong is great, but is generally less happy in dense areas of the board (which is what I was saying the Domaru likes: it can hang out and punish non-CC troops in the close confines, or poke out and use the Spitfire at longer ranges).

It's not necessarily a no brainer; it's also not mutually exclusive [Edit: wasn't mutually exclusive. I guess they are now  ]. They both did different things.

...and? Even if it wasn't amazing, you didn't have to go full 5-man link. A Domaru Duo was pretty cool the few times I dipped into JSA. And a Spitfire definitely has a place between the Missile Launcher and Chain Rifles that the Combis weren't quite able to fill. B5 at BS15 is hardly anything to sniff at. Plus, there were few mid-range specialists in JSA, basically just the Rui Shi, which was more fragile but had a very different purpose.

So again, hardly mutually exclusive and that profile still had its upsides compared to the others.

Again, situations can make it worthwhile (I didn't say it would always be useful, but it can be), such as maybe those Warbands are close ranged (Pretas or Galwegians, for example) where the Domaru can leverage its powerful CC to equalise/defeat theirs (ie, it deters their desire to press forward) and the ability to drop into suppressive fire on a Warband heavy flank to punish Extremely Impetuous moves (ie, they either lose Warbands to SupFire, or cancel ExImp orders; either way a win-win), or simply absorb a bunch of orders to remove. And I think a 1/3 chance is a pretty hefty simplification, considering that CC Warbands will need to get in close (which is still an order drain) and the Spitfire Domaru has multiple ways of defending itself (suppression fire, its own CC and a 4" PH14 Dodge).

For example, using your CC focused, shorter ranged Spitfire Domaru to defend the flank of your HMG Zuyong (or Hac Tao, Daofei, Guilang, etc, etc). That's where the Domaru was damned useful.

There are numerous and varied reasons to take a Spitfire Domaru in vanilla, and to put it up against enemy Warbands.

They had Frenzy, which is just straight up worse. No extra order until you do something, no cover once you do. It's the limited camo of Impetuous.

Now we're talking about how it was within JSA, which is fine but not the main point. And even within JSA, you either were paying 130 point for the bare bones link with a Spitfire, or 155 for the Missile Launcher version (which also cost 5 SWC). Just getting enough specialists to do specialist things with the remainder of your points was hard at that point, and by the time you bring a KHD and any smoke unit to push up safely, you're at least another 50 points in. Now you can get the same effect for just the cost of 3 Keisotsu and a Kempei (an additional 48 points) and you're going to bring that in JSA anyway.

I'm not saying the 5 man DoMaki core was bad, I'm saying the spitfire was rarely worth the investment versus your other sources of firepower. Hell, Aragotos got the same gun for 1/26, had mimetism, and had 8-6 movement.

I had mixed feelings about it. It was great as a delivery system for Neko (Neko + Spitfire) but there weren't a lot of reasons to take that over Saito or an Oniwaban for most things.

Most players are still going to push their warbands forward. Check out the dice math for how likely a Domaru in suppressive is to beat a Shaolin Smoke Dodge (hint: not good) and if your opponent is play their impetuous orders correctly (go check out the CHA primer) you're very unlikely to get a clean shot anyway.

My 1/3 chance was based on CC, but it's actually an almost even chance in CC because of the same level of MA, and the fact Berserking a 5 point unit is not a smart trade (Berserk is good for trading up, not down.)

How is a Domaru any better at suppressive fire than any BS12 unit? A Wu Ming MULTI Rifle in suppressive has one more armor and one more BS, at the cost of one damage, for at least 3 points cheaper. A Wu Ming HMG is one point more for one more armor, one more damage and one more BS. Oh and he doesn't automatically lose cover if he wounds one of the other guys.

The Zuyong, Wu Ming, and even the Shang Ji are better at being SWC weapon carriers in Vanilla for reasons I've explained here. The Domaru doesn't shine when it can't be in a core, and before the core was too expensive to be useful. And the warbands are handled equally well by any similar BS unit in suppressive -- if they make it into CC with you, you've already done something wrong (and should be prepared to lose your Domaru.)

And now in JSA it faces competition from the Daiyokai, who is a better shot with more armor and lower SWC. The only place I can find for it is in the Keisotsu Kempei link (where it's AMAZING -- I don't know if I emphasized that enough. I will probably be taking it in like half of my games now because of how much it stands out there.) But in Vanilla, Domaru, and particularly the Spitfire, were never a competitive option.

    This makes perfect sense.

Hopefully that table of info will be included (complete) in the high-rez stuff which they release.

It's the 1930s/40s usage, common to WW2 veterans as a pejorative, intended to be offensive.

I am a bit surprised that none of the Adepticon-goers have spoiled the book fluff yet.

But that mention of mass graves does not paint either side in a good light, and the lack of any mention of that Crane getting dealt with by the Emperor himself isn't helping.

Uh, have you not heard of Goebel's "Big Lie" theory, where "a lie repeated often enough becomes the Truth"?

    Ain't a new thing, man.

And no, I don't like Drumpf. Didn't vote for him (or for Hillary).

As @Mahtamori said, the big problem with "Wuxia" (Woo shia) is the conflation with "Uxia" (Ook shia, I think) McNeil.

Hey, we finally found the Chinese word for "sneaky bastard"!!! BTW, Jiang Hu, according to the game Qin: the Warring States, roughly translates to "the realm of martial arts", so it's not really appropriate to use for "Chinese Ninja".

So let's call the YJ ninjas Cike ("she kay"?), and arm them totally differently than the JSA Ninjas.

That fluff-piece of the psychoCrane, which did not explicitly blame the mass graves on the Secessionists doesn't count?

I'm getting really tired of beating that horse, PS. My primary gaming interest is in counter-insurgency warfare, so I have read all the references that the US military uses. Mentioning mass graves without explicitly blaming them on the other side is effectively admitting that you caused them. Regardless of the actual truth.

Works for me. Also lets us arm the YJ ninjas completely differently from the Secessionists. Though I think the simplest thing would be to give a Cike an EM CCW.

Maybe get Jet Li's character from the movie Hero as a special character.
Or just have Jin Ke (the historical inspiration of the aforementioned character) as a recreation.
