Yes, i think bikes and a Oniwaban would go a long way to make me feel better, but alas, it's not meant to be.
Youre just fuelling the fire @psychoticstorm. Best to let them yell into the void. It's even in its own thread.
Popular unpopular idea: branch off the Ninjas. Make Yu Jing Ninjas have a more completely different equipment set to the Nippon ones. While I am all for harping about non-assassin Ninjas, what if Sino-Ninjas had completely different subset of CCWs and guns? Supposedly JSA lost access to a lot of resources and industry, but Yu Jing still has this so upgrade the CCWs; DA becomes EXP Shock becomes Mono AP profile disappears from both YJ and Nipponese (did anyone seriously ever use this?) Can also use that moment to redistribute and optimize rifles. BSG Ninja? SMG Ninja? Would also be cool in an odd way if one of the Sino-Ninjas had Sensor, because, you know, they work for ISS. Edit: spelling. Sinja and Nipja?
That definitely seems an interesting design space, to emphasize the reality of the split within the shared profile. Without the guidance of the oniwaban to keep with tradition, new approaches blossom.
Just join Haqqislam. We have Hassassins (and no one denies their existance), and none of our Sectorials will secede any time soon.
What does strike me as odd though, is how the Imperial Agents all got stripped from their monofilament weapons, supposedly in order to make them cheaper, only for CB to give it out like cheap candy to JSA and their Tanko’s, while not even costing close to 25 points. :s Not complaining as an ISS player but this does seems odd in retrospect and monofilament high CC units were part of the reason we could sell ourselves as the CC faction.
Pheasant ditched it for a good reason, it served basically no purpose whatsoever. Crane lost it, but were massively improved at the same time. (Pre N3 Crane was garbage) Though he is the one agent that could conceivably use it. Zhanying never had it and definitely dont need it. They probably gave Tanko mono ccw so they dont get cheaper from losing one level of MA. I am not a big fan of YJ's alleged CC faction status, hopefully it goes away with the traitorous wokou and take the cc tax with it. Sent from my SM-G935P using Tapatalk
Yu Jing is not dead in the water yet. This is the chance for the ultimate comeback story of Infinity in real life. I for one, would love to see some Yu Jing players do well and lead the charge in the upcoming campaign. Greatly outnumbered but still fighting on. Even if you don't win at least give everyone else a fight. You might feel declawed but this faction is certainly not defanged. It is time to go into "eye of the tiger" mode and fight back. The time for mourning is at an end, the time for counterattack is upon you all. So lets see who will answer the call.
I'll definitely be getting my Yu Jing on the painting table after an upcoming tournament which I was already committed to JSA (pre-secession news) as they were the force with the most painted models. Might even write a crane-sensor tactica so people can learn to appreciate cranes outside of the roided up spitfire one in ISS.
In my darker moments I now wonder if Bostria wasn't trolling when he said this would be "a dark year for Yu Jing". Maybe Invincible Army isn't actually coming out this year at all. They aren't going to be at GenCon for certain (one army is not getting into two different VS starter boxes at once I don't think) and that just leaves the November release. So the Closed Battle Lists may just be a sop and the late year IA releases a sweetner for those who bother to stick around. ... But I DO hope that there'll be a different Yu Jing bike unit now.
What would hi bikes do differently to battle cat? I honestly didn't think the aragoto had a place in vanilla at their price. I'd rather be buying guilang and ninja/kanren personally.
HI on rocket skates. Or HI that can move like Wheelers from Return to Oz. HI on skateboards. Or HI with little Segways/Self-Balancing Scooters.
Just because someone doesn't share your opinion doesn't make them a fanboy, doesn't make them indoctrinated, and it doesn't confer special meaning into your own point of view. There is no big conspiracy to make your own personal experience of life worse, so please try not to be offensive to anyone who disagrees with you.
Nomads already called dibs on the rocket skates. :) As much as I disagree with Storm's argument re: the Oni. I also disagree that it's necessary. The tools exist to punk Joan sitting on an objective: Oni was just a cool, optimal, faction specific option. But, it's actually a pity that all the Ninja characters sided with JSA: providing a face to the loyalists would have been a cool solution. Basically, YJ is a force in transition. It's still absolutely playable and playable competitively, it's just got holes. Yes this sucks, but it's not the end of the world. Instead it's a chance to adapt, and it means that YJ is one of the few factions who expects a significant improvement when their next faction drops. One of the things that is increasingly clear is that CB has difficulty acknowledging legitimate grievances. Which is what it's clear posters like Triumph are looking for. Storm failing to argue a sensible corner just stokes this fire.
I'd settle for something as simple as an EM CCW, I don't need or expect a point for point Oniwaban replacement, but something that can fulfill a similar role would be appreciated. Yes, the jokes and memes we got instead were taken... poorly.
I mean, I just kinda thought that a highly mobile unit to go with the less mobile firepower of the HI would work well thematically. It's why I have never assumed that Invincible Army would be ALL HI. Even 'though I want to see HI in most roles. I'm feeling that way at the moment. Which makes me sad for the Yu Jing players in my life.
Yeah, not me. I was poking my head round the door to see what's been happening and... just no. CB has lost my faith, until they actually pull out their thumbs and give YJ something in compensation. Fuck, I've been waiting for the Invincible Army for years, many of us have - they couldn't have that ready to roll in the same window? Anyway. No, I'm not wasting my time trying to shore up anything after CB pulled its campaign bullshit last time (ie, completely ignoring what the player base actually did and making YJ dumb villains). When I first heard about the secession, I was pretty angry (because yes, I bought some JSA stuff specifically for vanilla, just in case anyone decides to try and tell me what I do or don't play) but thought maybe they'd announce IA. Nope. CB just wants to shit on half of the YJ playerbase, or that's how it feels to some of us.
