It looks like we're losing this event, so any idea which character of ours will be temporarily banned and then revamped? It almost certainly won't be Tarik given the recent release and modified profiles. Saladin seems unlikely as a recreation. That leaves us with...Leila, Yasbir, Kasym Beg, Zuleyka and Zamira, and Al-Djabel. Of those, my gut says Al-Djabel. An iconic Haqqislam unit, but one that isn't essential to the faction. He has a cool, but rather old sculpt. It would be hard to just revamp one biker, Leila is a recommended purchase after Red Veil. Yasbir is possible, but they'e still pushing the Dire Foes. What do you think?
They just remade DF characters and did nothing to Leila (thankfully) and Yasbir (somewhat sadly; was my candidate #1 for remake). I think DF characters are unlikely. I wouldn't mind Hussein. Something to make him stand out would be great, albeit I like that current Fiday profiles all have their use. Hopefully the changes (if they are to come) won't upset that. But I honestly don't see what could those changes be, at all.
Where are you getting that from? All I see on the rules page is that they'll get banned from ITS until further notice. For all we know it'll just be like a 1-2 ITS season suspension.
I hope Yasbir, being that the reason he was not modified already, but the never-taken Nazarova Twin and Kasym are good options aswell. As for Al-Djabel, I doubt it since he runs around without a cube and his backups are in the Mountain, done the old way. Trawl the Game/ITS/ITS Challenge in both english and spanish forums. Hellois gives data, and the suspension is ONLY until the next Challenge/end of the next challenge (estimated as starting 1-2 months after the end of this one). And the "back upgraded" was somewhere, unless they edited and removed the post...
I'm fairly sure we have some biker enthusiasts among haqq players on these boards. I wouldn't expect them to change anything about those before Khanate relese in a few years anyway unless we're getting N4 earlier than that. I almost forgot this is all tied to ~lore~ Well then. But on the other hand, Kasym is the only kum with a cube as well. I don't know whether we can make something out of it though. I hope so. While he has his tricks, they are fairly limited, mostly being interesting in vanilla.
By the way, Konstantinos (the guys that shares the box with Yasbir) was not updated as well, it seems. We can use that to drive our speculations as well :P While we are at it, here's my (extremely barefaced) wishlist. Please, don't take it too seriously. Yasbir is a character I would like to go with, so here's what I think would be interesting with him: 1) Counts as Lasiq for the purpose of fireteam composition in addition to stand in as Muyib. By no means this will make some great impact on competitive lists, but for the sake of completeness it will allow us to make a full Core of Lasiqs. Nice things about it: Complete 5 man link for Lasiqs. Duh. 4+1 can be made into HB theme when it comes to fireteams, but at least not "mix whatever" of recent releases; Specialist in that link, which the unit currently lacks; A way to avoid situations like "Lol, my Kornak/Asawira/Interventor/FK only fails his save on 1!" in 8-16 rangeband. Overall lack of profiles for that link is not good for Core, but on the other hand it'll be easy to hide Yasbir's Holo1 profile in there; Uh... He has something Viral on him, so, um... he fits?.. You will be limited when it comes to using climbing plus, but that'll still be at least an option, and it's not often that big of a deal. Bad news is that CB aren't probably doing Lasiq box any time soon, so they aren't too interested in making this happen. 2) Nimbus grenades. While they are beyond Haqqislam's practical production capabilities, HS generally produces them, so it's not impossible that some limited amounts of those can end up in Haqq black ops arsenal. Alternatively, it can be explained away with "Haqq is at home when it comes to biotech, so they made their own rather stinky flavour of this thing". The reason to introduce them is to give more versatility to Govad links so that they can become potent for their cost even when you don't face a lot of optical mods or convenient terrain with special rules. For one, they will become very effective against linked AROs. As a bonus, if it's Holo2 profile that gets them it will be able sometimes to support your WBs and CC shenanigans, but it's not like Haqq really needs help there. The downside is that Nimbus is terribly uncharacteristic for the faction and it will also upset some hi-tech factions that CB doesn't seem to love as of late. Not a route I would like CB to go at this point. 2a) Well, in that case might as well add linkability with Govads, but I feel more and more gamey with each suggestion, so it's probably time to stop.
You mean 25pts 0 SWC for a BS12 up to 48 inches (the x-visor turns the -6 to -3, and the 5man link removes that penalty) with viral rifle? heck, make one of them a sniper so he shoots better than an Intruder for nearly half the cost, by not using surprise shot (nor smoke combo, but...) XD Konstantinos was not revamped because he's mostly fine, I think (at least according to the several PanO players who talked about it).
You then hit on 9 with B4, which while isn't terrible, is pretty substandard for the expense and 4-2 link-associated unwieldiness. Of course Mimetism helps, but anyone using proper primary weapon will get roughly equivalent results, not to mention actual linkable mimetic gunners (which are plentiful enough to matter). Bagh-maris come to mind as comparison (and are equivalent in some suboptimal scenarios), but while they pay SWC for their options, it's because they do get those options in the first place. On the other hand, an argument can be made that when MI link of "shenanigans faction" is comparable with stacked MI link of "shooting faction", something is wrong. Comparing them to Intruder who gets a lot more from smoke and actually being able to take other SWC options than SR, even if considered adequate, doesn't strike me as hinting at something unfair. Besides, he gets an actual camo for all that investment. I'd say you can always find a lot of people saying that something in Infinity is actually fine, which I was always taking as a good sign. I'm not sure if we are really making any real argument by referencing them, but hey, they may be right. Tbh I admit that it's entirely possible you can get your mileage out of him in MO or something, and that leaving all untouched characters, well, untouched can be deliberate. But hey, not much else to do other than getting involved into mad speculations right now, so... vOv
Isn't Kasym Beg being plotted against/manipulated by the biker girls anyways? What change do you think would hurt us the most as a faction? I feel like something happening to Leila, while not likely, would be fluffy and put us on our heels a bit. I would hate it, but I could see Corvus Belli justifying it to themselves.
Layla could bite us hard in the softer HB bits. Will definitely affect list building in sectorial. Saladin is a sub-genre of vanilla lists on his own. Tarik seems like unique piece in Haqq line. His lists tend to build around him (I mean, he doesn't need significant setups, but he costs a lot, making it so that even some Halqa/Tuareg doc thrown in already take a significant part of your list), but because of that they are probably more isolated in their own mini-meta than Saladin lists. Named bikers are replaceable with each other and their peers to an extent. The only thing that grabs my attention is Kasym having anti-material weapon on a mobile platform, so there's that. Yasbir doesn't strike me as filling particularly unique role, but you already know what I think on the matter :)
So Kasym is Villanova, and the Nazarovas are his lover and his wife (who he thinks hate each other) from 7th Sea First Edition? Funny.
I don't think anyone is safe. Although I suspect Yasbir may be the biggest target to give an excuse to modify him a bit. He has some point bloat, and fits a bit haphazardly into his role in HB.
Where's the Kum fluff from? That sounds hilarious. I agree that Leila would hurt the most, because she's almost an autoinclude at the moment. But I really can't imagine CB putting her on the recommended buy list for Red Veil and then banning / redesigning her just a year later.
Somewhere in the Spanish side of the forum apparently, and I doubt it'll last a season. It was meant to be until the next challenge, which probably ties to the campaign in May. But I'm not sure whereabouts that stuff would actually be.
I think I read that particular fluff under their public troop profiles (both models had a piece of the story) a few months back.
Did I saw a post with someone saying that Kasym is a never-taken unit? :D Maybe we're playing different game, but for me he's the autoinclude. Not Leila. He's the one - an ideal combination of havoc and tactic. His normal impetuous is so much better, than all the rest of Kums. He works great with the rest of army, can smoke screen the battlefield, can destroy tough units and almost always pays up. I highly suggest trying to use him few times, you shouldn't regret. And Zuleyka also has Antimateriel CCW - DA. But she's far harder to control, because of her Extreme Impetuousness. While Kasym can be rather obedient and will do what you want and die after, Zuleyka is rather like: :P Still I like her really much. Zamira could be changed a bit. And about Djabel - he stands out. If I use Impersonator, I always use him. He is the deadliest, and that's what I want from him ;) I'm really interested what CB is going to do. The best idea would be to change a bit Yasbir, but since some of the Spec Ops are going to change in the new book, I'm not sure if CB want to change other later. It would be weird. PozdRawiam / Greetings
QFT!!! I agree, especially with Zamira needing a rework, she offers nothing over a Basic Kum. As a matter of fact, when I field the Sisters, Zamira proxies a Basic Kum, while Zuleika is the "Just Want to Watch The World Burn" type.
Yeah, Zamira basically shuffles a couple of stat points for 1pt over shotgun Kum. I'd be okay with her as is in a hypothetical Khanate Haris, just because the entire construct would be sufficiently unique anyway.
