Their schedule shows it is scheduled at UKGE, which is late May. It also seems they have another box (action pack?) for Infinity around September.
Is Haqqislam the new Tohaa? What I don't get is why. Looking at ITS 17 metrics, Vanilla Haqqislam is the third most popular army this season. It would be really nice to get some Odalisques and at least a Jannisary HMG this year. But it is looking dire. Did I really get 0 for my questions? Edit: I guess we now know of some Aleph releases...
Sounds well like the Old Man of The Mountain should send CB a plate of cookies... just to remind them of our existence ;)
I was expecting nothing, and yet, they didnt fail to dissapoint. Next Wave focus. Pass. That's other game, not Infinity. Another merc dog warrior. Furries originate in any of the 4 nations of Ariadna. Always. Not available for any of them. I suppose people got jelaous about McMurder and they should have a counterpart. Nomads Vs Aleph. Boring. Corregidor Vs OSS. BORING. They're not that old. Tunguska is way older. If you want to make a Nomads vs Aleph box, why not new Sectorials? Miranda. Totally unnecesary. Riot Grrls. Again? I miss the times when seminars bring info and releases for ALL factions. This is heading to be one of the worst years in Infinity ever.
My only gripe with the Riot Grrls release is they keep resculpting the BSG and the ML, but the Spitfire is ancient and smaller in scale than all of the last resculpts. Please CB, resculpt the Riot Grrl with Spitfire this time around. Though maybe its in the next Operations box...?
For me it looks like CB is having their creative and productive bandwidth occupied by Warcrow and various additional media and spinoffs that it leaves precious little space for Infinity proper. Before they were able to focus on factions more. Now the focus is on single sectorials. And over the last few years the number of sectorials as well as number of units in those sectorials grew so much, that there simply isn't enough time and other resources to maintain them all to the same standard. As much as I like Next Wave's vibe and design - big fan of XCOM2 here - it's a showcase of the flawed approach. It's a new sectorial for faction that didn't need it and would be much better served by having Onyx reworked properly, it's extremely strong and even if not OP it definitely feels like it is, which will only fuel resentment and accusations of GW-like approach, and it siphons resources to yet another next best thing from older armies, whose players will hardly appreciate this. Haqq player had been complaining about lack of releases for how long now? Oh, and the ever increasing army roster will likely lead to the same SKU issue that shelving armies and changing packaging was supposed to solve, just with smaller number of boxes and blisters for any of the larger and larger number of armies. Meh. On a side note, Gearheads have only Vulcan and Combi available as their main weapon choices, yet the render shows BSG. I wonder if it's just a placeholder, a sign of incoming change, or QC issue...
All the models really do look beautiful. And CB's new release style (get all of one or two factions out as quickly as possible) means that Next Wave is complete except for Drakios. I hope they fix the Blackheart to add guns and the mine-dispender. While the cave scenary looks cool for the starter set, I can say is I am not liking the new art for the Asura. It feels weird without long hair. Edit: Grammer
CB said they changed their strategy to focus on finishing product line of a new sectorial first. Like Kestrel and Shinden releases and Next wave this time. They are also releasing several boxes for other factions each month. I do agree the Next Wave could be better as a new OCF, I don't think focusing on releasing a full faction is bad. What? They got a flyer last December and another one in April!
Maybe not, and maybe for this strategy to pay off it simply needs some more time. Let's see what state the currently released sectorials will be when CB will consider them fully released. I have fingers crossed, actually. I think that's paying respects to the inspiration:
With those two flyers, they still have gotten less than a dozen new models in the last few years. Most things for Haqqislam has been repacks. It has been dire.
On the positives, Ioann Bann looks neat. Did Tohaa get usable Smoke Shooting? That is cool. And hopefully it helps vO12 (who already has a lot of close combat powerhouses). A PS 3 or 4 AP+T2 weapon sounds terrifying.
I think 2 does not make up for it. From 2020-2025 they have had only 37 new figures. The next Non-New faction with the lowest is Aleph at 59. Combined army has 92. Nomads are second highest at 89. One of the reasons I'm disappointed that the new set includes yet more new Nomads. I think the set is Corregidor is because they were the first one to get updated years ago. It's a cycle. Maybe they will finally get a third Evader! This is the same problem as Ye Mao for Yu Jing. Both are Haris or Core teams but they have only come out with two for each of them, and both are separated into different boxes! It literally took me years to get both Ye Mao. The above is why I call BS on them "Completing a faction". Their idea of "complete" seems to be at least one figure per troop. Even though a troop might have many to choose from. Even if that's the kind of troop that you probably want 2 of. Like how about another Strider or Waverider? Maybe it's because it's PanO but they are extremely lucky they got a 2nd Drummer and Fennic. I highly doubt we will be seeing any more coming out for Shinden any time soon.
While I have no desire for non-Tunguska Nomads. My positive take is I have been intrigued to start OSS even though they are kind of trash and maybe this will breathe new life into them.
Love the NW stuff. The Ranters and Puzzlers are super cool! Except… the mk12… looks like an hrmc or autocannon or something… it’s huge. I love the weapon design itself. But it feels misrepresented as a mk12 which is always designed as a heavy auto rifle type thing. This just looks way bigger than that. But the overall design of the units is really cool. Forgot to mention, I’m super disappointed however that the blackheart is just a steeljaw with a different weapon. I was fully hoping for a different body design. I’ll likely be using him as a second steeljaw and making my own blackhearts, depending on if there’s other models in the box and how they look.
Since the only things I want for CHA are McMurrow and Cameronian and they're both packed with stuff I already have, the varangian dog warrior is actually nice as a proxy. I was hoping for Tunguska vs OSS as that would be a box with both sides I want to keep.
Asura artwork looks cool. Maybe her CC abilities getting up. Wonder what the CJC guy is, hopefully not a new Brigada design, he don't look cool.
