Although I don’t play CA, I have a lot of opinions about the Combined Army Action Pack. It gives players a high chance of ending up with duplicate models. The previously released PanOceania Army Pack had the same problem as well. I would never recommend Taiwanese players to start from these products.
I'm actually liking the K2 more and more i see them. I'm not sure why. I'm thinking they can also be good proxies for something else too. I don't have any Karakuri or Jinwei yet.
That next Wave box is Teucer and Patroclus? They just feel...not as epic as was I expecting. And CB is killing me with these Haqqislam repacks.... Edit: The Combined Army Box includes 10 miniatures: 3 Unidrons with Plasma Carbines, 1 Rodok with Submachine Gun (the Strategic Deployment profile) 1 Daturazi with Chain Rifle, 1 Umbra Legate with DA CC Weapon, 1 Nexus Hacker, 1 Noctifer Missile Launcher, and the Victor Messer, and Ko Dali. Extremely weird 10 models and nearly 230-250 points by themselves.
Gui Feng price is going to be a non-starter for me even if I liked the model (ok so it's actually not a bad head piece). K2's looking good, another suitable Kyojin proxy :) CA box is very weird - a single Rodok and Daturazi - so does that mean those newest boxes of 3 and 4 respectively will be removed and split badly like the Morlocks were? All they needed to do was add in a single Kaitok and the box would have much more appeal.
K2 are great. I like the look. Very unique, a bit asiatique. Sadly only AVA 1. XI's new look is not what I like. I thought it was regular spec op. Boring and not very Yu Jing. More Ariadna or Pan O. I stay with old one. NW exp pack: 2 chars and one El contra Bandolero ... what a mix. Patro looks like he forgot his underwear. And what a big ofenrohr you have ;-) Teucer is good but I don't buy traitors. This whole takeway of units to sell them to a different audiance is not a nice move. The Rest are repacks.
Unfortunately there's not much too choose from in vCA now. But I would have started off with having a Charontid or Anathematic.
I just build the Jinwei and I like the look very much. A rare good choice of profiles. Only the assembling was a bit fiddely. Strongly recommanded box for ISS.
Ok critic time here: Essentials: old CA starter minus Fraacta and Maakrep, I fear they will be removed entirely even from the army... The pack is somewhat solid for adding almost everything rule-wise... aside from smoke combo and MSVs, that is. Otherwise a repack of models, CB could at least attempted to add models people actually need duplicates of instead... Xi Zhuan: tired of the Netflix re-releases, the only thing that says YJ here is the armor color. Mukhtar: repack. I actually have the hacker about three times due to my personal need of having Guardian units that actually more or less respect their S value. Why CB utterly refuses to sculpt any of those kneeling, I will never understand. K2: Good models, not too happy with the recycled poses, I feel a dissonance between the intended "frailty" of beauty (the golden parts, the negative spaces, the flowing cloth) and the aggressive posing of other models (the AD version is straight from O12's, for example). Maybe for some it works, but I personally don't dig it at all. I hope the AVA of K2 will grow up to 2 in Greeks, otherwise we will be getting a cash-grab that more than likely will lead to overflow in the secondary market. Next wave: GREAT faces, give the painter and sculptor a drink! I agree Patroclus' navel needs a loincloth or something, we all saw in some Superman movie or another that you need at least a frigging belt to define the torso when donning spandex. Teucer's sculpt is not the best, but at the same time is a little over the middle for me since he is actually shooting, shame the Tactical Alien Fungi. Nevertheless, I have the old ones, so I need none of the new.
Knowing them, they forgot. But I’m guessing they will change it in at least Steel Phalanx. I might but I'm not very happy with the Vanguard figure and lately I never even take the Jinewei.
i totally forgot that Yujing guy was a character and not the regular spec op. i was hoping for a new batch of spec ops along with a rewrite of spec op rules. Last weekend we had a little tournament (10 players) with spec op extra. Except for me (ariadna spec op), all of the other player went for doctor + engineer + hacker +1 WIP. Spec op rules need a revamp to make them interesting and atractive.
They are certainly taking their sweet time before the releases wave-to-come once the new book (covering armies missed in N5 fluff) hits. ...or at least I hope so. My opinion on Haqq releases for the last few years kinda isn't a secret...

So... K2 are only AVA1 in the factions that get them, the one model legally covers every loadout on their profile... and you're stuck paying for a two model set. Sets like this, the Drummer, and the Shenji Ying really have to make you wonder what CB is smoking sometimes.
Why? Apart from "not a nice resculpt" and/or "separate from the DF thing" he is a legit purchase incl the option of a 2nd loadout. I wonder a little why the latest Post Human box did not came in three ... mk1, 2 and 5 would be a perfect fit. But its okay I like the sniper sculpt. There is a glimpse of hop3 for change to AVA 2 in the new book.
