Combined Army specifically Shavastii have Decoy + Combat Jump (Cadmus) and Decoy + Camouflage (Mentor) although both are only Decoy (1). So Decoy and Camo or Decoy and HD are I think both possible.
I don't see how Hidden would work with Decoy. I guess he could Idle to have decoys show. But if he moves the decoy would never happen. I’m thinking he’s a cheaper Ninja. I’m mean since the regular Ninja is still there, then why take them if they are nearly the same. Take regular Ninja with Tac Bow 23pts, downgrade Infiltration to FD +8”, downgrade Mim -6 to -3, downgrade Camo to Decoy (1). That’s a lot of downgrading. I would think he’d be like 15pts.? But they might upgrade some things. He looks like more armor than regular Ninja. I don’t know why the kept the TacBow it’s sucks but with +1 B it would be better. Then there’s other skills that could make it ok. Super Jump, Berzerk, Martial Arts L4, etc.
Looks like pheasant will be the new replacement doctor. Can't say i like it. From fluff standpoint the pheasant is an overseer and a strategic advisor. Being a doctor as well does not really fit IMO
I agree story-wise but game-wise I don't mind it. He's a double specialist with doc/CoC or Hacker/CoC for under 30pts. Then add on Strategic deploy for any team he's with. Then an E/Mitter on top of that. He can duo with a lot of troops that would love to have a doctor near by. Elite, Doctor, CoC, MI is a lot of secret objectives he can do too.
He needs to keep his "guests" alive during their "interrogations." Man, how many classifieds could that single model complete...
While he can do a lot, he is also very vulnerable. I would not relay on him for doctor and the hacker gives an extra layer if vulnerabilty for your CoC.
Sadly CGs don't get any SWC weapons back. Hacker is now a good and cheap choice. FO BSG changed to combi. D+1" still very situational. No paramedic, so nor much to do for the three combi armed minis. I think they not use the potential here - I would be happy with doc and eng here, maybe a KHD?
I try not to rely on CoC. To me it's another button pusher and he may just happen become the Lt. if needed. Also, taking two of them is not a bad option. As far as vulnerable, he's about as many other troops like him. You can put him with those that are not. And now he counts as more troops. A Hsien tinbot + Pheasant Doc + Hacker is going to be a great specialist team. A WIP 14 hacker with Tinbot -6 can take care of a lot of your hacking problems. For CG we don't know what the Jinwei do yet. I think we will find out soon.
Yes I had CoC in mind. And hacker makes him a good target. Put him together with -6 Tinbot will be an option. I think for CoC I would choose minelayer or TA - the later is also a good 3rd turn shooter.
Since the N5 update, i usually run Adil Lt (due to discoball), with a secure pheasent somewhere, and since the wip makes the Lt rather obvious, i usually use the Lt order as well quite early on, while trying to not overextend Adil. If instead the sophotect i'll have second coc, the agressive Lt options sound like the way forward.
doc on this profile can have a use. but. we still need a cheap doc with servants. also still no engineers around ?
He can still use a servant if he's on his own. But I agree. I'd like to see a cheaper option as well. At least it's cheaper that Sophie and runs double duty. I think if I'm going to keep my CoC safe, I might as well make him a Doc so he can do something through the servant as well.
I’m guessing, mostly, that there will be more additions to existing troops. We already know from the figure that Cranes are getting an HMG. It’s unknown if it’s a replacement for Spitfire or not. I’m honestly surprised Zhanying still have HMG and ML. I don’t think I’ve heard of anyone taking them beyond myself. Even I mostly took them in lists but never had a chance to actually play them. I’m thinking they are going to loose both of those weapons. I would like it if they gave them more support troops. Paramedic and Killer Hacker mainly. Now… if they gave the HMG or ML Triangulated Fire! Now then, I would seriously think of taking them. The reason most didn’t take them is because they were with Wu Ming in ISS. Why take them if the better shot, better ARM, better Wounds, Wu Ming was available? In Vanilla there were much better options as well. BUT, if they gave them Triangulated Fire with those weapons, they would be interesting. Right now, the only “heavy weapons” I see are Major Lunah with viral sniper, Fennec Thunderbolt, Proxy Mk5 Mk12. The majority are small weapons. While TF has potential to be very powerful, it has a drawback of being a Long Skill. You must already have LoS to the target to use it. You can possibly do a dodge from out of LoS to then be in, but that’s wasted orders. Especially if you don’t make the dodge. It also doesn’t help you with smoke, saturation zones, etc.
My guess - sadly - is that the HMG is a replacement. This will make Crane more generic - typical HMG HI. Especialy since we have modded Spitfire on Adil (shame, the MI version is gone). This let me think about a weapon transfer between Dao Fei (HMG) and Crane (Spitfire) - which give me a doubled heavy weapon in the end. Makes no sense for the Cranes and little for the Daos (a double Spit will be a good surprise). In case of the Zuyong I see no potential for big changes. The cleaned them up already in good way. The ML is still a ML with a ARM 3/2 Vita body. Something the opponent have to take care of. Triangulated on the a troop choice HI with a big SWC weapon? Unlikely.
The Crane's HMG is an AP HMG so a big win. Also, why are you talking about Zuyong when the discussion is about Zhangyin? My guess here is the Zhanying loses the ML and the WM loses the HRL
I said Zhanying. Not Zuyong. This guy below. The ML is pretty forgettable and they never made an HMG. Even though it was only 1 SWC, still no one took it. I've got to say the new figures are much better than the old.
Sry ;-) I wonder why you change to IA or I am just to tired today. In that case - I agree - that would set them apart from other troop and would value the HMG a lot. As for now, they could delete the HMG. I think I used the ML one or two times in N4. Nowadys with 6th sense he can response to attacks through smoke ... but to be honest 1 dice + SD vs maybe an Intruder you need also a full team to cancel surprise - one bullet and he will be down. Oh and I like the old Crane and Pheasant more then the new ones. Armoured Braids!
No matter what the price is going up on everything new. I also don't have the old ones. This set also has 9 figures instead of 6. Per figure it's about $13. Since single figures seem to be around $20+ now, that's not bad.
