I just realized how it sucks for anyone that got the IA pack already. There are 6 duplicate figures in the YJ set! WTF CB? I would NOT buy one if I already bought the other. What the hell are they thinking? There’s many other troops that could be considered essential and are not in the IA set. Yan Huo, Zhanying, Shang Ji hacker, Hsien, Hac Tao HMG. Do they even know what the hell the are putting out? It's even worse considering the vYJ action pack has the same troops that can go into IA! I can understand not wanting to do ISS troops because those are coming. But they could have done some WB.

There are 8 duplicates between the two sets, not 6. Not sure why this product exists, but oh well.

 

I lost count after 6 i was so dumbfounded lol. They don't have anyone paying attention over there. What is going on?!

 

There is more. It is HMG Zhanshi there. For what?..
I am really thinking that we need usual zhanshi more than this one. Tell me, if I am wrong. But in my lists I use swc for more reliable units... Usually.

I wonder about other essencial boxes.
JSA and PanO looked like they were made with idea. I saw structure. Here it feels, like CB are not knowing how should it work in marketing and game.
What mockery it would be, if we would get almost all the same units like in last two boxes when (if?) tohaa essentian box would come

 

Consolidation of existing blisters into boxes.

 

Doing it twice with the same figures is twice as nice or something? It doesn't make sense. If I got the first IA box and then getting the Zhanshi SWC set I'd have better than this new vanilla one. It's just a different IA set that just happens to also be in Vanilla.

Below is something they could do. It’s a little bit of all Yu Jing. Current single blisters and from the OOP Red Veil and Kaldstrom sets.

With a mini that is not available in V-YJ its just NOT essential ... what they do? So maybe we see an additon in V-YJ bc it is easier then repacking ;-)

Its the Free Guild BH and its accidently look japanese Kitsune like ... this JSA box is also a WTF moment. Yes the Kyojin have AVA 2 and the Yamabushi also, but honestly this loadouts don´t need extra sculpts - meanwhile other factions/trooptypes wait since years for a mini with a new loadout ... LiuXing for example.

In the first JSA expansion are two Jizsamurai (SMG & LSG) while in the ST box we have Jizz with LSG already...

The Pan O box looks fresh design wise. The Magistrate has WarMa vibes. But I wonder, while the tough and rough Jackals are both female ... yes females can be diggers too, but usualy this dirty jobs are a male thing.

Look at the Sulyong M-MMR so it is the Marksman. I like the box. The sillverfish looks pretty cool and the Gudans are worth a try. Design is good.

 

I hope, they would put haidao hacker somewhere. With hulang may be. I am fine with it. I need both of them(

Oh yes! After I've red their love I expected for some kind of brutal workers, who have nothing to loose.

tldr stuff that used to be code one (which were all pulled from sale) has been re-released in a large box collection, so that the minis are still available.

And you should expect to see more of this over the next few months, because there was like... 4? years worth of code one releases that need to be put back into sales channels in this new form.

is it convenient? heck no. but it's better than being OOP, which is what it was before.

 

I was hoping to see the Hassassin Action Pack among the list of releases for February since Steel Phalanx has theirs coming out this month.

 

I assumed that box was replacing the IA starter given its contents.

 

The problem with big, expensive boxes is how it becomes a new entry barrier for new players, I think.

 

I've usually seen them do decently well among newer players and expanding communities. My FLGS has a receding Infinity presence though, and the big boxes barely seem to move there- everyone in the area who wants to try the game has it, and doesn't want to overpay for another 3 Line Troopers, two repacks, some bizarre Hacker and one trooper they actually want.

 

By making this I now realize the Hsien now gives +1 SWC without being the Lt.!

 

Priya does that too, somehow... I suppose she finds so many ancient ruins, the corpos authorize extra gear for her guards XD

As for the "new" boxes... Action Packs seems to be around 85€ for 10 miniatures, which is good (about 8.5€ per mini, great discount), the selection...
Yu Jin is the IA starter with some extras. As other have mentioned, it is not WYSIWYG compliant with Vanilla YJ due to the sniper being IA only... (I fortunately have all of those models already from one or two years ago).
The Nomad box is a joke and a slap. Since there is already a Bakunin box with 2 Moderators and 2 Morlocks, now that you won't use (most of the time) more than 2 morlocks due to Zellenkrieger being also there in Bakunin, and being AVA 2 in vanilla, CB returns the other half of the Suicide Squad movie morlock box discontinued... With Mary Problems, ye Olde Spekter, and the Securitate Special Weapons box (that came with a Grenzer) plus the ragefist Mobile Brigada from Icestorm (and the N3 Nomad Starter, and the Codeone Booster pack Beta...) and the HMG Sin Eater (so the only way to get one is to either buy the Observance action pack or this box).
So lots of dead weight for players who already bought stuff and want 3-4 models they may had no chance to buy.

JSA support pack... While I agree Essentials should be cheap, we are talking about models that have the old spherical junctions, so new players may be confused when faced with different assembly styles, not to mention the weapons are the old style ones and the scale is smaller than the new troops. The PanO suppport pack is the resculpted one that was retired soon after the MO novel with the MO-styled engineer (curator), HVT and character, so it's good to see it back in action.

The JSA expansion pack beta... While I can accept the katanas, the bow... it isn't even like the Ninja one with pulleys and the like, it looks like a thousand years old design. Was it necessary? The model could be used in Warcrow... it is also the only one without a breathing mask... :/

Now the PanO Kestrel Beta, that is a bullseye for me, and I don't even play PanO. Depending on how the pieces go they may be a general market hit. Also, considering how the weapon loadouts for the jackals is exactly the one for the non-infiltrating ones, I can assume there will be another box in the future with the other jackals, possibly 2-3 models (if 3, all pending loadouts, if 2... I hope a Boarding Pistol in one model, and the Grenade Launcher in the other, but it's morel likely that we will get a BSG and a Combi).

The YJ box is adequate. The gudan look like modified Hundun, which is good because it gives a sense of coherence to the sculpts, and the jacket will also tie them with the WB zanshi. The YinShe is kinda within expectations for an Imperial Agent, and I dig the pose.

About the Action packs at Adepticon, as announced, they will be for Imperial Service and Sÿenann.
As usual, the bundle for each will be Action pack + complementary pack = free special miniature.
Both products will have a dedicated week of videos (miniatures are done, he is working on the video showcase)

More releases with miniatures made in Unicool both limited and normal.

ITS current season will end in July at Interplanetario. New ITS season will kickoff in August at Krug.

Nothing absolutely new, but details here and there.

 

If the most important event of the year for them is Adepticon and not Gencon and they're only releasing an Action pack, it's not gonna be a good year for Infinity
