Since the decision to keep USAriadna was made, logically they will be worked on in the future, when? I do not know, but assuming they will be cut off is a weird assumption.
Why is it a weird assumption? We just witnessed what happens with out of catalogue sectorials: 5 out of 7 cease to exists.
well, the previous factions under "playable, but out of catalog" were eliminated (WHERE IS THE PDF WITH N4 PROFILES OF ELIMINATED ARMIES, CB?? OR WAS THAT A LIE TOO? WHY IS NO ONE COMMUNICATING ANYTHING, YOU RELEASED N5 AND DISSAPEARED AGAIN), so is easy to assume that now that USARF is under the same paragraph will be cutted in the future. And i wont be surprised. Even when FRRM and CHA existed, USARF was the less played of all Ariadna vanilla and sectorials. If is gonna be worked in the future, why is not treated like Qapu, ISS or Onyx?
Joke's on you, bears got so thoroughly emasculated that you probably don't have to worry about them as it is, anyway.
Why? Gradual removal of old sectorials fits exactly with a strategy of forcing some kind of planned obsolescence on the game. Removal of everything all at once does not. Also, fool me once, shame on you, but fool me twice, shame on me. People saw most of the previously out-of-catalogue factions discontinued and you ask why they assume that the currently out-of-catalogue factions will be discontinued next?
They will still be hard to deal with. But not impossible anymore. My O12 had almost nothing that could really effect them. Nano pulsars and that's it. Para will work but not well because of Ph16. I still don't have that much EM to hit them with and no breaker.
"We just saw most of the out of catalogue sectorials get axed and USARF hasn't got a new release in 6 years, surely this means they are gonna get a full relaunch in 3 months but they are just keeping it secret" makes perfect sense
Did you go through the profile, Bears are pretty much dead, especially the boarding shot gun profile. Haven't seen such a nerf of a profile yet.
Only if you define "dead" as "is not a direct counter to literally everything that isn't an Impersonator anymore". It's still a three-wound model that only takes one wound max from snipers and missiles. It won't splat everything in one hit due to reduced damage in melee and won't roll over dedicated melee specialists due to Berserk not being Normal roll anymore, but it will still run through your ARO and slam someone who can't show them two CC rolls in response into the ground just fine. If not for the Handler tax - it would've been so much better than the other dogs it wouldn't be even funny. P.S. It even has an actual chance to hit something with its shotgun now.
The B. shotgun profile (40 points) is pretty dead (no template weapon), imagine spending 4-5 orders so I can FTF a unit with 2 dices (BS 11). The Profile went up 9 points, lost TI, lost impetuous but for some reason gained NO COVER, lost 1 Armor, smoke granades lost +3 range. Meanwhile there are vehicles shooting templates across the board with 3B, -3 BS, mimetism and moving 16 inches per turn for 33 points. Some profile got so crazy it's not even funny, BJC looking at you...
It mightn't be what it used to be (thank god) but it still definitely has a place. Berserk with a 10" MOV combined with Climbing Plus and the fact that enemy Fireteams are only shooting once per Order means that the bear can still trade up into just about any Fireteam castle in the game as long as you've got a secondary gunner to clear out the Flash Pulse REMs that will inevitably protect them. It's also, if I'm not wrong, the single most reliable source of Smoke in the game right now!
Climbing+ doesn't work like that anymore. It just makes Climb into a short skill. You can't just Bearserk over terrain. You have to walk up to the wall, stop, short skill climb, stop.
Climbing got nerfed as well. The chain rifle profile has uses for sure, but boarding isn't worth it, not for 40 points. Whole Ariadna is in a SAD state atm...
...Well, I can't pretend I'm not happy as a mainly-PanO player that careful positioning might actually keep my hard ARO alive in the Ariadna matchup now, but that does kinda suck for the Ariadna side. I guess in that case, you might want to drop the bear down to a Dog Warrior to save cost depending on mission (bear's still clearly stronger in missions that force close encounters)? Wait, did they actually manage to internally balance the thing!?
Chain Rifle profile is okay. It's still nerfed more than it should have been. It should have either lost No Cover, or just had both bears go Impetuous. Between the Bearserk nerf, Immunity nerf, C+ nerf, Trenchammer nerf, ARM nerf, smoke nerf, and price increase, that's already enough. But the greater problem is that a lot of other Ariadnan stuff got nerfed, and that Ariadna without relying on bears and UKR is a god awful sad affair before the changes. BJC's buffs, on the other hand, are insane. The Go Pod is an absolute aberation, but the stuff that they did to boost the already overpowered and overly versatile kit in the sectorial already existant is ridiculous.
Oh, I believe you. Had a friend try to pick up Russia-flavoured Ariadna in early N4, he had a miserable time of it. He quickly got sick of any TAK list not built as full Camo getting Spotlit and annhilated by token opposition, and he was actually pretty good using Irmandhinos and Dynamos to cover their advance with Smoke and take favourable trades. I myself played MRRF for a while. It's a bad time to fight for Dawn. At least whichever kid they let loose in the candy store to pick changes for Bakunin has unintentionally revealed that certain skills are stupidly cheap for their power... looking at you, 2-point-Marksmanship-on-a-Sin-Eater. And yes, having looked at it, the Go-Pod is an absolute abomination; that's a flying Kriza Borac with a MULTI Rifle or HRL (possibly the most underpriced weapon in the game) and an Auxbot that, by the points, is clearly an inferior choice to a Veteran Kazak- or, indeed, an actual f*cking Kriza Borac! Actually taking a look at the pricing between units, I'm starting to think CB's formula adjustment for N5 consisted purely of making almost every Skill in the game cheaper, while leaving stats and weapons largely untouched- making the obnoxiously overskilled newer troopers much cheaper, while anything still leaning on raw BS or ARM to do work in the dust. I actually think that Bearpode's fourth point of ARM could have bought him Mimetism, or Marksmanship, or even Enhanced Immunity.
That and Aleph will be only matchups your careful positioning will matter, the rest will have hoverbikes (if not Seraphs) in your face in 2 Orders Btw, I think for N5 Corvus handwaved points a lot more than before, it seems they've realized having a formula makes no sense of you have to cheat it so now they just straight up ignore it
I despise the bearpode in every single way. It was pure powercreep made profile. It made all the range of dogs obsolete. It was a must play and a crutch. The lore was bafflingly bad like a joke idea from a forum meme. The model is made of siocast. I just can't stand the damn thing, there is nothing in infinity that I dislike more than the bearpode.
