Biggest thing I noticed right off the bat is Shotguns no longer have Template modes and Pistols no longer have CC modes (except the new "Kobra pistol"). That's a pretty big shakeup to the short-range/CC meta.
Boarding pistol looks like a handy new toy. Still wrapping my head around the damage changes but everything else I'm seeing is looking like fun.
Welp, Hacking's totally unchanged despite seemingly absolutely nobody enjoying it. Only thing different is you now have a snowball's chance in hell of saving against Spotlight (instead of none), as it's now B2 with decent damage. Looks like all the fun LTs stay on the shelf for another edition.
Yet both are fruits. In the end both ARM + extra wound and Camo marker state protects you from dying, but Camo did a better job by making the opponent waste more orders (discover is B1 WIP-6-9 depending on range and cover and mimetism with one trooper only allowed to test once per turn) making the trooper un-attackable and granting safe passage nearly everywhere. Yes there are counters like MSV which is only good against Camo / Mimetism (so the TAG list make it useless) while the Camo Marker itself is good against camos, HIs and TAGs too. Plus Araidna had plenty of BS13 troops too it's not like they are capped at BS11-12 (often with mimetism to make that dreaded BS14 -> BS11) . But in the end I'm a biased person and thankfully nowhere near where decisions are made. I'm just enjoying the schadenfreude of Ariadna with all the rule changes since N3 (Combat group model limit, HI cheapening, Ariadna profile removals etc).
A coconut and a blueberry are also fruits, buddy. Does it make sense to compare them? Also, it's a saying, are we really going to argue about its litteral sense? You got the point (even if you act like you didn't). Camouflage and Armor have basically nothing in common, it's perfectly normal that they are costed very differently and it's pointless to try to make a side by side comparison. For example, camouflage becomes useless when you are revealed and plays no role outside of the camouflage state. It may even doesn't play a role at all when you eat a template (from Intuitive attack, Speculative attack, or just because you stand next to a target model). Armor works all the time (when you shoot, when you are being shot at, when you take a mine, in CC, etc...), even if it can be halved with AP or (rarely) negated with K1. Coconuts and blueberries.
Either because it's a typo (not probable) or just because they didn't like the non-interactivity of it. IDK.
Well. Looks like I missed a bit since I had the flu. I’m going to need to repurpose some of my PanO into the appropriate new sectorials. There are some interesting changes and certain minis will fit right in. I weep for the loss of the Uhlans. Was hoping for an updated profile but oh well. Joan with mobility now may get used much more. The hill I remain intent on dying on though is my Squalo Mk1. I’m planting my flag and dying here. Damn profile was solid and nothing can be said or done to change my mind on that fact. I want it back.
Triangulated Fire now no longer has any mods. Ignore range, cover, mim, etc. But still a long skill. Can't go beyond your weapons range.
The spotlight change, pitchers no longer having a +3 range, and Deactivators working with ZOC without LOS is going to have a huge change to the hacking game.
I doubt Spotlight is going to whiff that much, but admittedly the Fireteam changes and Pitcher alterations together will make Pitcher carriers less obnoxious. I suspect Nomads will adapt easily, given the breadth of tools they have available, but their peers may be more manageable.
