Can you talk me through your line of thinking here? What makes them better at killing HI but not TAGs?
In my eyes the best weapons they have vs. TAGs is the one guy with a Panzefaust and the one guy with K1. Most of their weapons are low damage and don’t make them roll more one save per hit. I don’t know about you but the things that have worked best for me taking down TAGs are the things that make them take many armor saves. Preferably AP as well. Panzerfaust, Missile Launcher, HRMC, EXP CCW, AP HMG, D-Charges. Even K1, which is good with burst three, might only cause 1 wound. The K1 sniper can’t cause more than 2 wounds. I have been lucky with some HRL and opponent bad roles. I’ve never used T2 but at least that causes 2 wounds her hit. Monofilament only needs one hit to straight-up kill. Combi dmg 13, 1 save each hit Multi Marksman dmg 13, 1 half ARM save each hit K1 MR dmg 13, 1 0 ARM save each hit, max 3 Panzerfaust dmg 14, 3 half saves per hit, only burst 1 BSG dmg 14, 1 half ARM save each hit, only burst 2 AP mine dmg 13, 1 half ARM save each hit K1 Sniper dmg 15, 1 0 ARM save each hit, max 2 E/Mitter dmg 13, 2 half BTS saves per hit, only burst 1, non-lethal These weapons can cause 2 wounds fairly well. 3 wounds, not so much. Yes, I know I shouldn’t expect them to be able to one shot a TAG. But there are other troops that can, and they are not called “TAG killers”. These guys are, but their weapons don’t live up to the hype. I guess it’s Yu Jing propaganda again. On top of all that, they have no modifiers to make sure they hit. Albedo does nothing to a TAG. No X-visors, no MSV, no Mimetisim, no surprise attack.
I agree on most of the units, but would like to add something: Feiquan - the shorter range will not so important because of the speed. Sure Pan O flying cutter don´t even need to go in 16 or the dangerous 8 but ours can make quick hit and run attacks and leaving the right targets in isolated or imm states. Super Jump looks very strong at the moment, that will help Lei Gong but now that he is an HI (clearly in MI suit) his unique role in a FT is gone. I think he will see even less playtime and more or less 0 in WB. I wouldn´t say that the Silver Snakes are bad. A bit meh yes. I expected more. The albedo seems like a tax on them. But they HAVE anti armour weapons. Gao reflects now his tough as nails character from Defiance. And yeah all this stuff is expensive. Gao and Adil are 50. The snakes are in the 30ies with the ranged weapons you want. Still no chap charlie stuff. And they deny cover and reduce the already bad dodge rolls for TAGs.
I disagree on Lei Gong in WB. I'd totally use him in a Haris of Ye Mao. They would be the ones to take out the hacker/repeaters now. Previously it would have Bixie but LG is cheaper.
Well it looks like everyone's fave freedom fighter is not only staying in YJ but selling his services to IA too. Koni has confirmed on discord that Liberto is YJ, IA (and Druze, interestingly).
It's a fantastic match gameplay wise, i think. Exactly what IA needed; a minelaying trade-up attack piece to bubblewrap their expensive dz with.
Yep. I am all for the Freedom Fighters getting more representation. It also improves Zhencha and allows some shell games for the Daoying.
Yu Jing and Combined are your friends, they fight for freedom. That's a great move, gives IA something that Torchlight doesn't have, synergizes with existing camo units.
I understand why they didn't, but I wish it had been a new unit for IA instead of a fish terrorist. Doesn't really make sense for the poster children of the YJ military to roll around with an alien partisan. Also give us Daebak forces in IA, it's a tragedy that the standing military can't call in the Korean QRF when they need them.
IA Well, I don't understand Liberto in IA but I will take what I can get. I’m guessing the Gudan are a sort of skirmish troop. Backstory has them as being Zhanshi before. I don’t have high hope for them. Knowing CB lately they will probably have Forward Deploy +4”, no camo, SMG, and no specialists and other worthless skills and equipment to make them expensive for no reason. Sorry but I’m being pessimistic after the Silver Snakes. I swear they give high AVA on some of them just to make them “look” like an HI faction. 4 Liu Xing are almost half your army in points. The same with Yan Huo and Mowang. WB It was already hard getting a Daofei into a list let alone a Hac Tao, but I’m glad it’s available. Too bad Daofei didn’t got to IA as well. But the Hac Tao can fit better in WB than it can in IA. I’m kind of disappointed there’s no longer a MI Adil, confirmed by Koni. But at least the HI Adil is good. But there again another cheaper option gone. ISS Other than the addition of the Long Wang and Feiquan, I don’t see many changes. I even still get to use MBH! The big change is that there’s only ONE Sun Tze, and I’m willing to bet it’s the expensive HI option. That’s just the way they seem to be going. Pile on expensive stuff.
Cute, MI Adil gone. You buy a Dire Foes box just for him, you get 3 models and only 1 playable for you and now its useless in less than 5 years. Still better than my Pandora, limited bundle model axed before turning 2 years old.
yeah I don't think I'm going to be buying those Dire Foes boxes just because of shit like this. Edit: and money. $50 for three figs is just too much.
Libertos in IA makes sense to be. IA is meant to stand as a shield against Yujing's foreign enemies, and who is more of an enemy than PanO? And it really will help the IA midfield. Plus their inclusion shows how Yujing is all about Equality. Its just that some are more equal than others.
I think it's more of a "stick it in the eye of PanO" than anything. In story. As far as rules go, the Liberto is something they need. IA has been a faction where you could only afford one mid-field trooper if you are lucky. Zhencha OR Hulang OR Krit. You could take both but then you are just hurting the rest of your force. Or you need to lean into a meme list. Now they all have a little bit of back-up. Though still the guessing game of what's under the camo is still not great. But better.
Its a rebel - thats a important difference. Fluffwise YJ is supporting the Libertos. But I think IA is the last YJ place where I would put it in. The HI sectorial with a fishy midfielder LI? Better give access to Long Yas. I would put it in vanilla. Playwise it makes sense, when you have just a few points left, you buy him as an cheap midefild annoyance fin..ish.. Yep. Dafei was IA before we have IA ;-) CB missed an opportunity here to fix their error. What? MI is gone? As I looked over the chart I thought they just don´t write it out or forget it, like they do with anything else. Why the kicked him out? He is a DF character (and I painted him already with alongside my WB thats ... maybe two years ago ? or three? why the kicked him? Thats totaly dissapointing! They could stay with MI in WB and HI in ISS and good. That kicking actual minis tendency is annoying. The with every new character that I buy and paint I have to fear, that its obsolet in a couple of years? That very bad behavior. I will not give much on him. Maybe a new model with some halfcooked rules. He will still be the worse of all the recreation characters. Its Yu Jing. Yeah same here. While Pandora was first promoted as HVT only Adil came with a good set of rules (excl. no sh.imm) - the too expensive HI one came later with the comic book. Thats a suckerpunch for customers
WB looks completed, but better to keep Dire Foes Adil there and Crane in some other place... IS may be. Would be fair. So, I don't know, what CB did, but want to see rules at first. Some sectorials looks overburden, the others like no changes and may be even need more attention. I am confused a little.
I think the MI figure can be "demoted" to a proxy Pheasant at least. Let's just hope they make the historically bad Pheasant good. At least good enough to occasionally play. Edit: I should say, in N4 Pheasant are not bad. But they are not good either. N3 and before they were bad mainly because they cost 32+pts. But at least they had a DA CCW for things some missions that needed them. The MSV Marksmanship sniper was not bad either. A Para CCW is actually pretty good background thing and I do like it. What's sad is that they are just short of being really good. N3 they had CC22 but Martial Arts 2. Now it's CC23 and MA1. If they just make them really good at something that no one else can do, they would be fantastic. Unfortunately there's better shooters, better hackers, there was a better CoC with Adil. So maybe there's a reason for them again.
