Well, definitely a Duo would be easier to maneuver around, make good use of that Superjump. Big fireteams are hard to maneuver around with Superjump, at least in my experience (Haris I found to be easier on me), and mixed teams with Superjumpers (while possible under current era N4 rules) get awkward. Add to that Khawarij's relative fragility, and investing serious points into a large number of them stops being an attractive idea...
I will probably die on this hill, but Khawarijs need NWI. They are currently the only super soldier in Haqqislam without it. If you give them that resilience and AP weapons, they could have a niche in RTF: Muktars: Best Shooters Nahabs: Best CC Namurrs: Resilient Specialist Khawarijs: Best anti Tag.
And then you run into the Janissaries, who aren't that much more expensive (especially if you drop some Hortlak into the mix), pack AP Rifles and a Missile Laucher (and Blitzens for the Hortlak!), are good shot, and quite resilient. They are decent all-rounders, and mine have a few downed TAGs to their name. Ok, they are not supersoldiers, but don't let that hold you. I'm afraid you'd need to find a different niche than "anti-TAG" for the Khawarijs.
Which is fair, but Janissaries are HI, with all associated the hacking limitations. But they also might get a cost decrease if the new Griffins and Orcs are any indication. But I just want my Akbar Janissary doctor back. For Khawarijis, I hope they improve in N5. They are beautiful models and I would love the idea of using the box set as two Duos in RFT.
The role for khawarij, like CB try to do in n4, should be versatile, able to do a lot of things, but not better that the specialiced supersoldier. Cheers.
That would be great. But how to achieve that, that is the question. Without falling into the jack of all trades, master of none trap, as well as the trap of slapping on several abilities, and driving the cost through the roof. The military-religious brotherhood of Khawarijs, the "Red Turbans", was founded by a group of HaqqMuztazilite sages to protect Haqqislam from its foreign and domestic enemies. It is a tough, audacious light assault force of supersoldiers that recruits its members individually. - that's the fluff I was able to quickly find online. Then there is the one trademark skill of Khawarijs they always had, and by which they are recognized: Superjump. So, if you want to play the game, guys, I'd suggest wiping the slate clean on Khawarijs. Then put the basic requirements on the board. Khawarijs are: Superjump-capable. It is an ability normal humans don't have (unless assisted by, for example, a jetpack) so it is enough on its own to make the statement of their supersoldier nature valid. Religious (because they come form a religious brotherhood). This may also represent their audaciousness (as they tend to hold their ground in Guts check) and / or toughness (for the same reason) light (whatever thet means, Obviously, likely not TAGs, HI or REMs). Anything beyond that is okay, as long as it covers these three requirements above. From here on, gentlemen, the sandbox is oyurs.
