Huh. I am surprised that they can still trigger mines... I feel they have been designed as assassination pieces for punching down: they get point blank and gun down the targets of their choice as long as it is not heavily armored. So you can move 8" and then Jump 8" if you really need to get somewhere.
These things have been in development since 12-14 years ago. I recall Bostria talking me about the Red Eye for Pano and two Attack choppers for Haqqislam (single and two person crew respectively). And at that time he told me their purpose was exactly what Modock has said.
Worse Ninja all around, but with better dodge, very scary Mines, Super-Jump and a whole 10 points lopped off the top. Well those are certainly going to see play.
Pretty meh, but classic ninja will be probably AVA 1, so you are forced to get this low budget ninja. If the minelayer could also push buttons would be more interesting. Is a bit insulting Kestrel have better infiltrator
I wonder if it will be able to block CC monsters or impersonators in any meaningful way. And if it will use the same silhouette rules as everything else.
It doesn't have any kind of Camo marker state, so only the measly mimetism-3 and Dodge @17 (ph13 + bangbomb) protects it. At least its a cheap profile.
For reference. Let compare the minelayer profiles: Scarecrow gets a better shooter (BS 13) with camo, better Mimetism, better ARM, a nanopulsar, a boarding shotgun, silenced pistol, and d-charges. Cost 4 points more. Kurayami gets MA2, much better CC and CC weapon, much better Dodge (Bangbombs+4 and PH 13), better mines (viral versus AP), and Super Jump. While the Scarecrow gets more options, I think the Kurayami can be used differently and threaten more targets with its viral mines, super Jump, dodge, and superior CC capabilities. They are both ambush units, but do it differently. I feel that they each have their uses.
Ouch - at least thy could sell them as a special with 50 % That makes hope for nice minis. Very tough for their points. am not sure SP needs cheap fillers, but we will see, how SP N5 turns out (I do not expect hard changes). After original Ninja and halgbaked shooty Ninja, that can not even shoot better but looses a point of CC somehow on the way to no infiltration.

Oof to the silhouette 7 and no cover for the Red Eye. Live fast, die fast. Still, the extreme mobility appeals to me.
I kind of prefer the Feiquan, the Red Eye is a bit too costly for something that can easily get deleted. But I really want to see a PanO list with two glowing red eyes.
