You REALLY need to look up the term rushed because it doesn’t apply here. If it was rushed it’d be out already and be unfinished therefore requiring further work whilst being released. It would have been “rushed” out. N5 being delayed means that they couldn’t get the workload done in the specified timeframe therefore it empirically cannot have been rushed as it isn’t released according to the schedule. I believed this to be the case but having had a quick trawl through the posts I cannot recall where I read this. Some strange Mandela effect is going on. This. Pretty much all this. Also, your English seems pretty damn good to me. You have a better grasp of it than some native speakers. TL:DR; it’s delayed. Hopefully that means more time for CB to cook and get the rules done tightly and reconsider certain things. (That last bit is me on large doses of copium). Edit: also gives us time as @Darvain is doing to paint some stuff we have. Doesn’t necessarily need to be Infinity but it does give us more time.
Again, it could NOT be due to the rules. I hope they come out with temporary N4 profiles for the Sandtrap buys. People are buying them but can't play them yet.
As an observer of this exchange: I think you may be talking past each other. I believe one group is stating that the initial October (then November, now December) launch date was set in a rushed manner—and the target is slipping because it was set unrealistically early. The other is saying that pushing the launch back demonstrates that the launch isn't rushed—because things are taking longer. Both sides can be correct here, per their intended meaning. FWIW, I don't know whether the original October date was set as a rush. However, I hope I can help bridge the communication gap in some small way.
The delay is dissapointing. It means the release dates were set too early. Whatever the reason is. First make people hot, then let them stand ... anyone rembers how long it took until army in N4 was mainly cleaned up for errors? Which that in mind and x-mas holidays soon after the release I have not a good feeling.
I'm in touch with several communities, talk to podcasters, warcors, testers and one or two corvus members. Why my guesses are not valid and yours are?
Regarding the rushed Vs delayed: The release dates were set, and many of us considered it was rushed by diverse reasons. Not as actually released in a rush, but with a too tight timetable (after all, the announcement was made a few months in advance and for a strange date for Corvus, who releases stuff in agust, feb/march and sometimes december). Now, the actual release has been delayer for the second time, meaning it was a rushed development that failed to achieve the set date (for whatever reason). This does not mean CB has done a bad thing by moving the release by "a few weeks", the bad thing (in my opinion) was to give a specific date (nov 18th) instead of a fuzzy one (around november, but within the current year). Personally, I hope the rules get released right, specially since the new "date" (before christmas) makes me think they will release the PDF the day before going on vacation or something like that so we will get radio silence until Jan 7th-8th, not that I think it's a bad idea to let the community have 1-2 weeks of "gamma testing" the new thing. For the moment, I am not happy with Achilles' (as I mentioned before) and Vanilla Aleph changes (too many units there just because of packaging that yes, are listed, but no, won't see much game as their profiles are in N4, so I hope some will change in more things than just cost). We'll see. Honest question here: if the rules are finished by nov 18th, why wait weeks to provide it to the players, instead of releasing the rulebook as "intended" so the players can actually READ and think about the rules and gear and weapons, instead of releasing both the army and rulebooks at the same time so people will rush to play without reading the book? Worst case scenario, the Sandtrap profiles are there, so people could test the rules in a limited manner while the profiles would arrive. Also, why does the rulebook need to be released "complete"? As in, it may be just rules, gear & skills, no need to add the usual scenarios at the end, or so. The idea was to update the rulebook, after all, along the edition.
It's in the first time I said it. There's many things a business needs to happen all at once. They may feel the shouldn't come out with the rules without a working arm app for instance. I'm just saying it's a possibility. For all know it's totally the rules. Or it could even be they don't have the work power to get all the data written in time. I don't really know.
That's a bonkers solution! You think CB should fully develop the new game and have it completely ready for launch at the push of a button and then start the promotion cycle?
Surely if CB were rushing N5 release we would have seen the launch at the beginning of ITS season 16?
I think, they have a plan, but they are not sure, if they will be able to execute this plan when time has come. If they tell us about their plan, then we will take it as a promise - and that's better not to be broken. Therefor they stay vague.
Do you have actual informations proving that N5 is delayed because it was rushed and is not ready at all? If yes, please share them. Or zip it. Thanks. He knows better than you. And me. And everyone here. And CB. Of course he does.
Are you telling me that the original intention was to release N5 in October of 2025? You know what they say about extraordinary claims right?
I firmly believe that N5 was planned for 2025, probably Gencon, as is the biggest event where CB is present and where CB sell the main product of the year, and not to be launched randomly with the new season already started 2 months ago Also 2025 is the 20th Anniversary of Infinity, another reason to launch a new edition, a celebration
@fari is perfectly fine doing extraordinary claims all day long, without anything to back them. He "believes"!
They’re communicating what they can, when they can, and while I don’t know, I would wager heavily that they’re taking the tendencies of the community into account as they plan. Is it the overwhelming consideration? Likely not. Is the tendency for reaction vs response a consideration? Almost certainly.
I think it's clear that they are waiting for 2022's Warcrow Adventures kickstarters to ship FIRST and only then release N5. One thing at a time, amirite?
I'm relieved that CB are taking some more time on N5. I think the schedule they set themselves was unrealistic, I have some concerns about game balance from what we've seen of N5, and it's reassuring to see them push back the date. It's no biggie. Delivery dates often have to move in big projects, and the end result will be a better N5.
