Well, as a general statement "best for CB is best for customers" can kinda be true, lot of players are needed to push the game and buy stuff and so on, and a good game will probably do that, reality is of course more complex, those who were running any of removed sectorials are rightfully pissed, more so if lost sectorials were their main focus and the moment to talk about the frustration is pretty much now when the information is still fresh. I was angry couple of days ago, though personally I'm over 4.5 stages of grief by now, it seems I just don't care enough, though I'm 110% sure there are quite a few gentlemen here who have invested far more time and money to game and will thus feel more strongly concerning of course. I guess I'll make a couple of Vanilla lists and see if/when Acon/Varuna comes back, and will play RPGs as the main thing for foreseeable future, N5 just isn't enough for get me super excited as two of my sectorials are gone, and I will probably get few games from my current collection and slowly drift away from N5 and come back to check N6 once it's out. Though, you never know how things go, if suddenly new Players appear from nowhere and want to play a lot, maybe I will. 100% agree on communication being important and I wonder why so many companies look over this, when it's actually pretty easy and cheap thing to do and can increase sales and decrease customer "pissed-offness" quite a bit, and CB have a likable guy like Bostria, I mean just put a couple of videos out there saying, "so yea, this is gonna be this and that is gonna be that and so on and so forth". Peace.
This is a lot of why PanO players seem mixed on the situation, rather than seething: KCF is, so far, a quite well-thought out Sectorial with the potential to give PanO some of the design focus it's long been lacking, and stands up very well on its own merits. A lot of what's included seems to be attempts at modernising and consolidating several old, redundant-in-Vanilla profiles, and PanO really was bloated on Sectorials. People are genuinely excited about Kestrel, what remains to be seen is whether it can truly replace all of Acon, NCA and Varuna's rules/playstyles between KCF and Vanilla. Personally, I'm going to miss having versatile AD from what we've seen so far. Having nothing better than an SMG for weaponry and no non-Hacker Specialists is going to limit AD to close-in attack roles for PanO in general, which is a bit sad.
It's fully possible that we'll still see additional weapon loadouts for Banshee as sectorial exclusives. If not - well, we'll have to figure out how to change the tactical approach to using them. Though I expect the most popular Kestrel AD to be the Blair Parachutist.
So, it’s finally confirmed: Varuna, Neoterra and Acontecimento are gone and will not receive any N5 support in foreseeable future. I wanted to highlight that part for people who said “Of course they will do some sort of legends approach, they can’t just cut out the army completely”. They will not and they can. A sad day :(
Timestamp 1:20: "Until they are scheduled for a comeback." How does that conflict anything CB said earlier?
To be honest, they remained playable the whole time. I agree that the level of said playability is disputable. Still, CB have told us before - the armies not on the roster shown (which includes the three PanO sectorials, two Ariadna sectorials etc not being shown) will not be avialble for play on the release, fullstop. they were said to possibly show up somewhen down the line, when CB manages to revisit them, at no specific date. In my book "until scheduled for comeback" fits that description exactly. So, 100% nothing new here today...
Shasvaatii and Exrah both disappeared for a long time to come back later. So there is precedent (and therefore there is hope).
It… doesn’t? But let people doomsay. Please. It increases my chances of attaining great old one status. Waffling? Sounds dangerous… and delicious. Look, if these armies are truly gone with no chance of return I’ll be upset. Very upset. I was already incredibly salty when I heard that they were originally removed. But to hope they’ll still be playable in some fashion in N5? I’ll live in that hope, crazy as it may be. I mean we’ve already seen something people said was impossible happen yesterday. This. This is my hope currently.
Sorry, was QK ever an officially discontinued army with no rules available? Somehow I failed to notice that, having played them all that time. Save for the brief period at the very start of N3, when there were no sectorial armies available for anybody, till CB made up the new writeups and rules for fireteams. Yes, they were kind-of behind the curve, kind-of neglected, kind-of unsupported for the better part of N4. But they weren't wiped out down to the "no rules, we'll bring them back when we bring them back". The sectorials being left out of the game - like we have to do with at the beginning of the N5 - are something new for CB. I'm not judging whether it is a good move or not, justified or not, merely acknowledging we haven't seen it before.
That’s my whole point. This time these sectorials are gone for good (“Until they are scheduled for a comeback” which is not in a foreseeable future, because otherwise it would be communicated). I’m fine with people who do not care. I’m upset because some people still believe that there will be some way to play these armies in N5 based on their experience with N4. But this is not the case.
greeks were Oop less than a year IIRC. At least CB discotinued almost all the products only for releasing them in an operation box later, but never reached the status of "playable, but out of catalog"
Weren't shashvatii dissapeared for some time before they got their radical design change with Defiance? I could've sworn there was a transitional period where no models were available and their fate hanged in the balance.
yes, they dissapeared i think at the same time than french, with a campaing to justify how and why., but that was waayyyy before the actual OoP treatment
Because this is how language works. Let's say you get fired, but they tell you "you are fired until we hire you again but we don't know when or if it will even happen", would you say you are fired? Would you say you have a job?
