I’ve been playing Starmada now for about 8 months but I haven’t even tried the Nyoka. I’ve made lists with them but when it comes time to play, I skip them. They seem really good if used right. +1 Damage HRL for only 1 SWC and 19pts! On a guy with climb+ it seems really good. It seems like they are meant to go with a Bronze. I mean he counts as Nyoka and has C+ too! But he really ads to the expense though. Has anyone else used them and how do you use them?
Have used the HRL Nyoka as the glue of a haris team, with an Epsilon or a Bronze, and <insert wildcard here>. Definitely something to consider if you have SWC spare given how few impact template weapons we have, but hard to say its better than other team combos that are just better gunfighters. I've also run the Red Fury one a few times at a couple of events. It's just parachutist, but no-one ever expects it and it can definitely do some damage with the +1 damage and the climbing to get into good spots. If they retain duo and some other stuff gets purity with them, you might see them more in N5
That's one of the problems I've had. My go-to haris has been Chaksa with psi cop. They have done well for me so far. They cost more but I don't take an expensive wild card with them. They also have better armor, terrain skill, and weapons. But I want to take advantage of the Nyokas C+. Only the Bronze and Epsilon has that. Of course I could just do 3 of them. Cheap but can't take a hit. I should probably just take the epsilon and never mind being a pure link.
I tried out the team yesterday, and I really liked how I was able to climb stuff with them. I got the drop on a chimera, my most hated Nomad, with my first order. I climbed up over a building to get a shot with the HRL, taking out the chimera and a few of the pupniks. then followed up with climbing another building and dominating the center of the board.
I've used the parachutist multrifle maybe like, 4-5 times when I first started with Starmada. It can do work, it's just so flimsy. Dam 14 template is fun. Im curious to know what your Noyka team was.
Here you go. The Bronze makes up for the Nyoka glassyness. I used him to stare down a Tsyclon Feurbach. I'll say that Nyokas are very "on theme" for me too. Dam15 in fact. Kinda wish they had other profile options, cheaper ones with like a BSG or something. But i guess that would make forming haris teams too easy.
The only profiles I use on a regular basis are the parachutist ones. Can I spare the SWC then it's the Red Fury, if not, then it's the FO. Won many games just because of the Nyoka parachutist. The first time I've beaten one of Germany's top players on a tournament, was because my Nyoka Red Fury parachutist killed half his army (7 models) in a single turn on a decapitation mission. Never tried any other Nyoka profile. There are just better options in my opinion. Even for a Haris.
The parachutist is on my To-Do list next. Hopefully he’s still around for N5. I don’t see why he wouldn’t though.
