I guess his fluff will be in the 2nd fluffbook. And then, it may turn that his presence in Aleph is totally seonsible, fluff-wise.
Fluff on Hawkwood has been available for awhile: https://infinityuniverse.com/blog/john-hawkwood He works closely with ALEPH and has a high end lhost.
So... has the name of a historical character and acts like said historical character and uses an Lhost and works closely with Aleph - but not a Recreation. Riiiiight *suspicious Nomad is suspicious* And he also has an Infinity.Army unit symbol in colors and style matching other Aleph units - although no one would know that in-universe, I guess)
Hawkwood fits. Knauf will also fit if the plot point is "gather a team of heroes to deal with the traitors". He is a legendary sniper, after all. And Samsa can be the mysterious outside help, knowing how the CA works and having an access to that no-ship he can provide invaluable logistics for a hefty price. I can see a good plot development here, unlike the treason of Achilles, but once again this has not been communicated with us.
Reading about John Hawkwood, and its historical counterpart has made my interest for this character and the White Company goes from none to 'ok, please control your urges, your're poor, do not start collecting yet another (cool) army'
Well, you can write fluff to justify anything a posteriori, point remains none of them were ever Aleph units but got included to the detriment of other actual Aleph units. Because the faction already had a legendary sniper recreation of a mythological huntress who had a stronger reason to go after that animal Achilles without resorting to a random Merc.
So, same release system as CodeOne. The two players "Start here" and then Army packs, Support packs, REM packs, TAG packs, Booster pack and a character for Nomads (Szalamandra and Wolfgang), Yu Jing (Blue Wolf and Lei Gong), JSA (O-Yoroi and Kitsune) and PanO (Cutter and Joan 2.0).
I guess they decided it makes sense. Dunno, perhaps it actually does. Definitely it is better to have a system than to have none here. I wonder how will that scale to other factions, but we'll definitely see it in time.
We don't know. It may be closed lists, but with N5 rules. We are also left to guess if these are going to be new sculpts (sounds plausible for the TAGs), repacks of old ones, just current boxes with **ESSENTIALS** stickers on them or a mix of everything.
This was written over 3 years ago and he has always been available to Aleph. He is an Aleph unit by all meanings and interpretations. Yes. Losing Atalanta is frustrating, but before arguing about Fluff, please, please, please just at least check the fluff before arguing about it.
Uh... the Nomad one is Lizard. The 2gen Lizzard sculpt was released pretty recently, if memory serves me, in plastic. The Yu Jing is Blue Wolf. True, I can't see one in the CB store, so maybe we're about to see a new sculpt. JSA gets the O-Yoroi. It also is in its 2gen phase, plastic. The PanO Cutter is 2gen, but metal - so probably they can be going for a plastic resculpt. So, half and half, I guess. Once the time comes for Haqq, I expect to see the Shakush, which is relatively modern and plastic already. Maghariba is a total classic, but not really easy to use on tabletp, and it defintiely needs to be redone in plastic: it is quite a chunk of metal in its 2gen incarnation.
Nope, nomad one is Sally, not Lizzie. So 3 of the 4 are currently metal. And yes, they have mentioned they need to do something about Maggie.
Good point. Well, both points (arguing that one of them - the Blue Wolf - isn't metal, but simply not in production would be absolutely nitpicking on my side).
Geez, I just compared the Sophotect to Dr. Worm...I know S3 gives a discount, but Courage, NWI, WIP and ARM +1 seems not worth 8 points... EDIT: Looking forward (hopefully) to Plastic Gecko Bros and Maggie.
Old Blue Wolf was metal too. Everything older than the vostok is metal, and almost every big-based unit after the vostok is not metal (almost, for example long ya is an exception)
Exactly. The White Company have been ALEPH approved contractors and Hawkwood’s been in ALEPH from the jump.
Really?! That is a surprise for me. I thought, they are siocast. Them time to buy them while I can. Thank you. Really.
The Essential Boxes are most likely to be repacks of old minis as they are designed to be as cheap as possible to produce and sold for as cheap as possible as well. From memory the PanO & JSA box is ludicrously cheap to buy, it will cost less than a decent takeout for two.
