The old post-Uprising JSA article gave proxy advice on using Raiden as Ryuken-9 and I believe Haramaki as Tankos? I don't actually recall that being all that controversial at all.
In these cases there were units that were essentially renamed, now it might be slighter more complicated, but it is still a good point. Case in point indeed.
It might be a worthy addition to Human Sphere, adding a section for each unit that suggested proxies - other troopers that with the right coat of paint could be used for this one.
Next infinity novel from Hussar Publishing is for probably in November. And some little news for the future. One hell of a cutdown, never actually twigged to how much of ALEPH was just Characters and Mercs until I saw that new Vanilla. Wish they got one of the SP heroes instead of Maximus. I know he's new, but no Hector or Ajax or Achilles or any of the big, bombastic Rambos just feels weird and having him in both PanO and ALEPH with how severe the cuts are everywhere just feels bad. Kinda shocked Posthumans endured, though, with all their rules baggage- and it'll be nice to see Sophotects on the table again after an edition of all Parvati, all the time.
Knauf is in Aleph right now. TBH I'm sad about Parvati the most. They mentioned that both sectorials will change quite a bit and receive new miniatures, prular so more than the new K2(flying thing everyone gets most likely).
Wow that's quite the cuts. Sophie would have seen the table if she was as good or much cheaper than Pavarti. When they created her, they should think what effect it has on other troops that are similar. Sophie is just so much better for a small pt increase. Though this is something they always should consider. The video did say Ops and SP would get new troops though and those might also be added to vAleph when they appear.
Answering this this question legitimately: As someone who will have a lot of proxies come Nov 18th, no I don't think it's necessary and I am perfectly content with the very generous N4 proxy rules/guidance. I already use proxies quite a bit in both casual and competitive play and have never once had an issue, nor have I ever run into a situation where I played a person who appeared to be 'abusing' the proxy rules. I was orginally going to keep this to the external threads about N5 as it relates to dropping support for a large number of models, but the topic seems to have moved into this one instead. To talk about the proxy situation more in depth. thought I was doing a good job dodging the issue of having my armies discontinued and turned into proxies, by avoiding specifically armies marked out-of-catalog, or using proxies for the merc bloat of N3/N4. As I assumed that models released under the infinity brand specifically, and in the second half of N3 and during N4 would be generally be planned to be supported in the long term. I think I misunderstood Corvus Belli's goals, which is first an foremost a maker of models and secondarily a maker of games, so I have unfortunately been caught up in the N5 culling regardless. For me personally, I think going forward I will spend more effort on using the proxy rules to create a more personal collection of minis with my own head cannon lore and what not. Then I can just play whatever set of army rules fit my fancy that day. Whatever i think of the Corvus Belli business model, or how I feel my trust in them was used, I do think the bones of the game and setting has always been incredibly solid, as are the designs of many of their models. I don't think there is a more menacing cyberpunk aesthetic then if you were to paint most of the Haqq line up in black, with city scape basing. The Exrah maybe be a rules and sales flop, but they are sick models and there is no reason they have to be only used in a combined army list. If you play O-12, then you have bronze model I'm sure you never never use because of the rules, but would love get on the table. So why not go full head-cannon with it and enjoy? I think that's what CB is trying to say to veterans and enfranchised players (although maybe not out loud? they can be somewhat distant these days.) And I would encourage anyone else feeling disappointment, anger, a lack of trust, or whatever about this weird anti-hype campaign of "check back next week to see if your models are still in the game come nov 18th!!!" to do the same. Because I think you still enjoy the game despite that. I do.
I guess this means Knauf and Hawkwood will be getting new sculpts at some point, since neither are currently available.
You could buff the Sophie so she was on par with Parvati, or you could just remove Parvati (and a lot more things) so you sell the stock of Sophotects you got collecting dust on your warehouse. One solution requires no thought whatsoever so they went with that. Same with reinforcements.
For proxies, I think that if there was a guide, it needs to be generic as possible. Going one for one will stifle creativity as well as make it difficult to get the exact figure that’s supposed to be used for a proxy. Eventually we’d have proxy of a proxy! The only things I really care about is that if it’s as close as possible. Proxy criteria: Must be same size Preferably be same type: HI, LI, MI, etc. Preferably the same weapon type, ie Rifle for Combi, HMG for Feuerbach, HRL for Missile Lancher. Preferably from the same faction An example for me could be: There is no Kappa missile launcher, so to proxy it, would use a Nyoka HRL. It’s a LI with a weapon that at least looks like a ML and it's from the sam faction. Or I use my Makhai ML from Aleph. If I did not have the Nyoka. BTW I am a complete liar about what I said earlier about not wanting to proxy. I’m not sure why I said that. Because I do and below is proof I’m a liar. This is my Bronze Buzz Lightyear HMG. So my apologies for that statement. There is no HMG Bronze at the moment so I use this as it. In emergencies, things like baggage bots have been used as motorcycles and vice versa.
Parvati is at least still in O12, and more of an actual choice there- Lambda are way better as a generic budget option compared to her than a Sophotect is. I'd like to see that level of forethought and tradeoff in character design in the future- though the fact that Samsa and Maximus are among the very few units still available across factions and just so happen to be brand new doesn't fill me with confidence. I'm biased though; I've always thought the Sophotect was one of the coolest support units in the game.
I just assume that the Samsa is indicative that we'll see a continuation of the ITS Winner Mini being available as widely as possible.
I don't think you know how metal miniature casting works and how you don't need to store dusty unsold minis when you can just melt them back down into raw material. Parvati will most likely show up in the OSS sectorial list just like the Steel Phalanx characters will show up in Steel Phalanx.
