Hello, Quick question. Suppose you have a CC24 MA1 trooper. The new rule about Crits is that if you roll 20, 1,2, 3 or 4 you're getting a Crit. How will the +3 bonus interact with that? Suppose you roll a 2. This would be a Crit. However you add+3 to the roll, and it becomes 5 --> which is above the 4. Would that still count as a Crit? My guess is not, because if you roll a 17, 18, 19 +3 would count as a Crit. I find it more confusing than before in all honesty once you factor in MA
This probably will not be fully answered until N5 is released. However, most likely in N5, if you have CC 24 and get a +3 (from MA 2+ or someplace else) it becomes CC 27. So you would then Crit on 1-7 and 20. For example: A N4 Domaru decides to Beserk. Based on what we know of N5, the rules would be: CC 24 + 3(MA 3) + 3 (Beserk +3) = CC 30. So they would Crit on 1-10, 20, and with the new N5 MA 3, Roll two dice and keep one.
Mods have always been applied to attributes and before a roll is made. I don't think it changes with the N5. So in your example : CC24 MA1 trooper, you get CC24+3 = 27. You get a critical roll on 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 20
Why on earth are you applying the +3 to the dice roll instead of the Success Value? A model with CC24 and Martial Arts Level 2+ doesn't get a +3 to the roll, they have a Success Value of 27 and will crit on a 20 + 1-7.
To be fair in N4 you would add to the dice roll if your TN was above 20 but I think the new crit system replaces that.
I’m looking forward to trying to get more Shaolin into CC! Cheapest MA L3 in the game! (Personally I think they should be L4 but I’m biased). Teamed up with Liang Kai they will be awesome!
