Say you had a 5 trooper fireteam, leader is a HMG, & it’s your active turn. You spend one order to move & shoot with the HMG. You use the move to intentionally break coherency with one member of the fireteam, meaning the HMG shot is taken with a 4 person bonus. You spent another order on the loner to move them back into coherency. If I’ve understood the rules correctly they will automatically rejoin the fireteam near the beginning of your next active turn. if that’s true, does that also mean they’re eligible to partake in a coordinated order during the rest of active turn?
Outside of deployment, you test coherency at the start of an order when you declare your first skill or ARO but before measuring anything. You also test it at the end of the Conclusion step of the Order Expenditure Sequence. So you activate the fireteam, nominate the HMG as the leader, and declare move. Then you check coherency. It's good, so everyone is part of the fireteam. You move everyone up except the one guy, who is more than 8" away now, but is currently still considered part of the fireteam until the next coherency check, which is in the Conclusion step. The HMG BS attack is taken at the 5 person bonus level. The order reaches the Conclusion step, guts rolls and movement are made, and then coherency is checked again. The mini is outside of coherency and leaves the fireteam. Next order, the straggler could be part of a coordinated order. If the mini finds themself within coherency range of the fireteam leader during the Order Count step of the next Tactical phase, then they may automatically rejoin.
thanks! So you’re saying all of the above was correct bar the 4 person team bonus, it was actually a 5 person bonus?
Yep! Note you can also reform the fireteam during the same active turn by spending a Command Token instead of waiting for it to automatically happen at the start of your next turn.
