Sigh. If you want to start a discussion about how disappointed you are with the roll out of N5, PLEASE start a new thread. Right now, this just leads to some pointless back and forth which clutters the thread. I am so grateful of the work that @Wizzy does to consolidate the release information; please don't make it harder to parse.

    Thank you.

Okay… serious levels of unnecessary salt.

Most games these days from board games to tabletop Wargames to computer games are released with a ton of bugs. No matter how much playtesting has occurred there will be things that have been overlooked and will need to be patched on release day or even moving forward as the game gets played more. I mean Final Fantasy VII Rebirth had a huge patch on day one. Elden ring still has multiple patches. Games Workshop release a “balance” update to address bugs. It happens in almost every game these days. I mean Skyrim is still being patched and that was a game released on the PS3.

Now, arguments may be made that the game developer should take care of these bugs before release. Unfortunately this is simply a relative impossibility. A release date for a game is given and the developers have to keep to that date or else risk alienating themselves from any partners involved. It smacks of unprofessionalism to not keep to a release date. Therefore, any bugs that are discovered during play testing that do not directly affect the overall performance of the game are usually patched after release as it’s easier to take care of then.

Is it annoying? Yes. Possibly. Is it going to ruin the game? Very unlikely. Should there have been more stringent playtesting? I don’t know. I wasn’t part of the playtesting group so I can’t tell how much has been done beforehand. It’s never enough anyways as I mentioned above. Something will always get missed.

This is the way modern games are developed and released now. If the developers waited then they’d be at the mercy of their competitors who are also releasing product that is essentially “unfinished”. It’s just how it is.

TL:DR; there are bugs in the game. They’ll get patched. It’s still a playable game and from what can be seen so far; enjoyable.

One bug I would personally like addressed is the absence of the Squalo Mk.1… :yum:

On a completly different note, we now know that purity in fireteam doesn't require any fireteam bracket: Bostria had 3 Senkus in lvl3 pure team and Senkus didn't have anything in brackets.

    Brackets? You mean the keyword?

Yep, the demo was informative, even if things change. I smiled to myself in Haqqislam as Bostria watched his Red Fury continously bounce off targets armor.

The game also felt faster in flow and was a good demonstration on how collaborative Infinity is.

Although counterpoint, it's a senku fire team. So we don't know if only the things with a matching name (or brackets) works.

I know it's a pointless debate, but I'd rather have some discussion about actual rules speculation that the what the rest of this thread is turning into

In general, I would not mind if CB went towards more of an open source form of development of the rules. Have the current version of the rules, release a stable candidate for the next update every now and then, have testers submit feedback and people try to break the stuff...

Also, camo repeater morans are a problem independent of the development of the system. The system itself is one thing, developing and balancing the units of each faction is a completely different thing. For example, the fact that two thirds of the new Japanese units are extremely lackluster is not a problem of the system itself. Rounds, orders, F2F resolutions, skills and so on work exactly in the same place, regardless of whether the senku troops are garbage or the hottest thing ever. With a well-designed core mechanics, you can tinker with costs and skills of troops a lot without breaking anything. And even if you do, it is a quick revert back to something that works.

Since they seem to be keeping almost everything from N4 in terms of system core, I'm feeling relatively confident that we won't have problems with N5 launch, even if they are still tinkering with peripheral elements of the ruleset.

Well that was a massive thread purge, apologies to any collateral posts that got in the purge.

@fari and @Benkei you have been asked politely and been warned several times to stop what you are doing and once more in this thread you have outdid yourselves in baseless accusations insulting other forum members and frankly been vile to everybody that is not agreeing with you, as you can understand this cannot and will not go on.

For the rest I would rather you simply report such forum members than give them the leverage of a reply to continue such behavior.

It has been clarified in the second Sindobutai video iirc that the purity is counted either from fireteam members who are from the same unit, or have a bracketed keyword that makes them count as the same either as members of the same unit or named after the same fireteam, the example given was two mechazoids would form a pure duo fireteam.

No, most others are either in my watch list and will follow if they step too far or have specifically gone out of their way because they were provoked by the behavior displayed here.

    Thanks for your concern though.

Kinda surprised that neither sides of the action pack + beyond pack got a S4/S5 models. the vast majority of action packs have at least one

As far as we know neither army has an S5 model in their roster, unless I've missed something

Yeah. No big HI and and both have small TAGs only.
We don't know the S of the Red Eye but the flying drone may be the biggest thing in there (It could be smaller than the manned flying bikes though).

I expect the flyers to be S3/4, with the caveat that they're not placed directly on the ground. But it's just a guess on my part

Speaking of TAGs, I wonder about the direction of PanO evolution. Looks like we're losing three of them from the roster, one of those got a replacement, but it definitely contrasts with the "TAG faction" of old. I wonder where this will go in the future

From what I gather from the various interviews the fliers will have the big silhouettes despite been smaller to simulate they fly?

I am not sure about the TAGs going, they are of course going to be missed, but they were OOP for a long time, most importantly, nothing prevents them coming back in the future when an allocation slot is freed for their development.

Using a bigger silhouette - S6/7? - was my second guess, but I wonder about the implementation. We'll see.

And yeah, I'm pretty sure we'll see, say, Dragao in the fullness of time. And I wouldn't be upset seeing Uhlan in the Reinforcements ;)

We will see, the biggest advantage of a "living rulebook" approach is that rules can be changed, fixed or redefined if they prove that they need to when released "in the wilds" I am a firm believer of Bostria's saying that "Nobody is smarter than 100k players" especially when those players are tournament grade trying to find any leverage to help them win.

If I remember correctly from the Krug, Bostria said the flyers will use the S7 silhouette and have the No Cover rule and be immune to CC, with high MOV values and MOV skills to indicate being a flying vehicle.
