Of course not, which is why we're all speculating and not doomposting. I was merely addressing your specific comments, namely about what is, potentially, lost and why we're excited to see if the Spiral-specific profiles move to Tohaa. Also to be frank, it's also pretty unlikely that N5 Tohaa sees any major changes (aside from Pheroware, which is non-interactive and might get knee-capped) as it's an Out-of-Catalogue army that won't even be in Army at launch and will instead be relegated to a PDF. They could, of course, surprise us with a massive rework of the faction, but that's not very likely. And I tend to operate off of what is likely. So, it is likely that Tohaa gets ported to N5 with minimal changes. Some tweaks, some profile touch-ups, but no major rework or buffs. And with Spiral being confirmed dead, it would be nice if the profiles that made Spiral special were given a home in Tohaa so we could still enjoy that style of play. Especially the Taagma Sniper, who has a distinct (and very nice looking) mini. That's all, really.
It makes total sense for spiral to be written out narratively, there was no way the human sphere would let them hang around after what they did in Endsong. Still bums me out, especially given i was in the middle of painting up a bunch of them for the local slow-grow. Bit demotivational to know I can't use the same combinations of stuff as I've been assembling and painting up - I was always drawn to spiral over normal tohaa. It wouldn't be all that hard to have a new sectorial under tohaa that retains some of their schtick, tho.
Let's be honest, Tohaa plays with other models than the spiral case. is it possible to move painlessly from spiral to Tohaa? No. Is it possible to buy Tohaa. No! And a year later they will tell us that Tohaa is not playing and she will be erased from the game. That's the end of the faction. decorate the stands with the remnants of your favorite army.
If they wanted to do that, they would do it as they are OOP for a long time and would not do the Tohaa Happy Days.
Theyre still selling VIRD right now on their webshop, so I don't see how your assumption holds water.
Bostria in yesterday's OTT video said about the missing sectorials being published at a later date. What was shown on the slide (the "3 sectorials per army") is meant to be available in the Army on release date, i.e. on November 18th (timestamp - from 2:30 onwards). The missing armies may, at some point come back (timestamp - from about 3:00, specifically speaking about PanO sectorials). Verbatim "enjoy the stuff that is here until the old stuff comes back" (timestamp - 3:28). "You may see a little surprise" regarding StarCo and ForCo (timestamp - 6:35) albeit indeed Spiral Corps is "out of the picture" (timestamp 6:43). Sadly, no word is mentioned about the two missing Ariadna sectorials. That's as much as he said. Now the following is merely my interpretation of these words: "all the missing sectorials wil be playable by the way of legacy rules, in one form or another, at a later (yet to be specified) date". Now if this interpretation is correct, then selling VIRD / SAA / NCA / FRRM / CHA / certain NA2 models well into N5 makes sense: they will resume being playable again once the legacy rules are released (apart from their useability in respective vanillas / other sectorials / as proxies, that is).
@Senyu , I am super deep into infinity and while Spiral Corps is dead, I have plenty of old Tohaa models + other factions I can fall back on to play. I hate to hear that a new player is out of an army going into N5, especially one that enough good taste to have started with the Tohaa Mercs. I have two older sectorials that I have since replaced with newer sculpts. They are both playable Day One in N5 from everything I've seen. If your interested PM and I can send one of them to you for the cost of shipping.
Very generous of you, thank you for the offer. But I do have my Yu Jing I can fall back on, just been playing them for awhile and wanted to shift to something new and Spiral Corp had the greatest difference IMO when looking at armies, so been playing them since early this year. I will hold out hope for the artichokes return, though.
Do you have inside information on how well the plan to support Tohaa? I don't think a made to order run is really a strong indication they plan to, especially considering how arcane CB is when it comes to which factions are really going to get future support. Personally if you were into Spiral Corps I think you would be good money after bad looking for Tohaa on the secondary market, and are better off cutting loses at this point and picking a different faction then Tohaa if you are still interested in Infinity. That or take a wait and see approach and buy in if they launch something new for them. In that case you can just proxy some of your less used models in spiral as Tohaa. You don't have a lot of options for using Spiral in other factions as Helots are only in Vanilla Pan-o and brawlers are in just the NA2 factions, so not exactly a lot to hold you back from going somewhere else entirely. We'll have to see, but I kind of expect the Tohaa faction will be mostly cut and paste from N4, so you probably have more Tohaa looking models already then you will have AVA for their actual profiles.
