I have to admit that so far I’m quite (and that’s an understatement) hyped about all the leaks we have so far. When I see : - the Black AIR (linkable via Number 2 and neurokinetics) - the Drummers that looks like an Auxilia but with Peripheral control - shotguns don’t have anymore DTH - which was really a bane of PanO expensive midfield troopers. Going back to N3 style gives a lot more reason for several midfielders to be played. Nokken is a perfect example. I really have the impression that PanO could become a lot more fun to play than in N4, whereby they have some some new tools, cool mechanics, new reasons to field troopers that almost never made it to the table. The downside is that I have the impression a LOT of my miniatures will be cancelled. I know proxy etc, but while we do not know what the 3rd sectorial will be (assuming MO stays), I think it’s safe to assume it won’t be the sum of NCA + SAA + VIRD + SWF. Hexa, Kamau, Regulars, Guarda de Assalto, Uhlans, Bagh Maris seem compromised. But all in all, I have the impressions the Pros outweighs the Cons and I’m really looking forward to N5. And the Kestrel force models are absolutely gorgeous. What’s your feeling? Feeling positive or negative for the future of PanO ?
At the moment the previous impressions are quite good for PanO... much better than the sensations that N3 and N4 gave me and that ended up being confirmed. I have high hopes for the Drummers... I hope they don't turn out to be the dumb brothers of the Puppetactica. We can consider any unit from ASA not reassigned to other sectorials as lost. Like all NCA ones that are not in vanilla. I don't blame them, their business is selling miniatures... the only thing that would be good is some way to download N4 Army to be able to play in the future with the sectorials that are going to disappear.
I'm feeling cautiously optimistic. Its source isn't as much any specific unit shown, as it is a feeling that someone at CB finally sat down and figured out what PanO is supposed to be about. Some specific highlights: Even with limited info available, Kestrel feels like a cohesive, deliberately constructed force, rather than weird mashup of different outfits like SWF Creative ways of applying PanO firepower and tech proficiency - BlAIR and Banshees from the previews, Drummers and Fireflies basing on their fluff PanO discovering the joy of secondary weapons, particularly large DTWs edit: to elaborate, this is the first time in a few years I feel actual hype for PanO. I even noticed that I'm talking about "us" when discussing it, apparently I might've left the faction, but the faction haven't left me :P Some things I hope to see: Fennecs to inherit some unusual options in the spirit of unique Regulars loadouts. Their fluff hints at them being also raiders; might be pure fluff, might be them getting some Infiltration/1 Use Camo options in the spirit of Daylami. In general I think there's a fair chance of something interesting going on here While Drummers are speculated to be taking Auxilia design in the direction set by Puppetactica, I'd like them to still do their own thing; specifically, I'd like them to not copy the Puppetactica resilience, instead opting - as hinted - to mount as big a guns on them as possible, making them almost literally a glass cannon type of unit. Though I wouldn't shed tears if something like SWAT Auxbot with Nanoscreen would come to pass... Blink, BlAIR, Fireflies, Scarecrows and Jackals to lean heavily on the "we are not good guys" vibe, with their kit and preferred tactics reflecting this Resurgent Father-Knights' rules to match the awesomeness of their original sculpts Some real thought going into construction of PanO characters Rest of my hopes is more for the general design of N5, its fireteam rules and composition philosophy, etc, so it's not really PanO-specific. I just hope they'll have a positive influence on the faction
I did ask in another thread about all the profiles! It looks like I’ll have to make picture copies of all the profiles for posterity. I have everything from N1 up so far. I too @Stiopa am cautiously optimistic. As you mentioned Kestrel looks to be a rather well thought out cohesive force. I hope this is applied to any remaining PanO sectorials.
At least in mobile, probably the new army will be a different app, I still have N3 army app installed in my phone
I hope that’s the case. Will give me more time to get all the old profiles. Any clarification on whether or not the army app is simply being updated or if there’ll be a new one?
Hello, feelings... Being an Acontecimento player for a long time (even when in the last years I went into major tournaments with hassasin), it was my starting faction, didn´t feel too well what is probably to happen. Not happy with CB decision. Not at all. I like to be able to play in one tournament Acontecimento, in other Winter, NCA or whatever I want to play that day. This prevents me to do that. Since I had the really old regulars I was to prepare the new ones a few weeks ago to be ready for N5, waiting to have everything updated and prepared to start season 16 with "new painted models", but news and rumors make me to stop mounting and painting infinity. Can I understand the business matter in the decision? More ore less, but still not happy. About the new things we saw... A window of hope looks to be happening for Panoceania, however, we have to wait until we saw all new rules and all new profiles and adjustment. About N4 profiles... They said it will be some kind of pdf with rules and profiles. But don´t know exactly the format... which armies will be there... etc. We have to wait. Best regards my fellow Pano players :)
Quite happy about what we have seen so far. Yes, some models will be relegated to "proxy", I can see my Uhlan playing the Tikbalang in Generic PanO that looks more or less to be NCA, but overall quite happy.
I have an NCA army. I will wait to see what PanO is like in N5 and I will adapt accordingly. I don't like the dripfeed of "changes" one tiny crumb at a time, so I'll wait to see it all in one place. If worst comes to worst, I will just toss my toys out of the pram and fire up the smelting crucible, while posting a crying rant on tik-tok*. *I do not use tik-tok. I also only fire up the crucible to turn the bits of metal models I don't use into spare ingots that I can cast into other bits (or to get rid of models I received, but can't sell or give away because nobody else wants them, either.)
I still think Uhlan should go into Reinforcements. Any issues with deployment are trivial to solve; instead of Ref units being deployed as they are now they should deploy by the same rules as the regular force, but the Ref profiles should get Forward Deployment of varying values (not to mention that Reinforcements need a rework as a whole anyway).
Thought you used the crucible to turn spare and unwanted minis into emergency rounds to use against the variety of creatures you live with in the land down under…
Uhlan is not in production so I assume this is the biggest part of why it is not in the list, I if a model is later produced it could be easily added to the generic list.
I like how the fluff of the new units are pointing towards giving PanO a wider variety of great shooters. The thrifty Griffin HMG (37pts!!!!) is an easier fit in the list as a secondary shooter. More importantly, with its PH of 12, it shows that CB is willing to change it up as it is the first PanO HI with such a low PH. Drummers and Red Eyes are also pointing to some changes. Even if the Auxbot HRMC is just low-end PanO BS (12), it still will a great tool that can be repaired and relatively disposable. I cannot wait for N5 to see all the profiles!
Also, this suggests capable profiles for other factions (MI and HI) are likely to be cheaper than we got used to in N4 as well.
Oh, we don't use guns here. They don't really do anything against the scary ones. (The Emu War is less of a joke than it really should be.) On the topic of N5 and PanO, my feelings are mixed and are heavily dependant on how effective the Kestrel profiles are at consolidating older capabilities onto updated platforms. PanO does have a lot of units that do similar things, but it can afford to lose less of its truly unique units than most.
This land is not texas, sirrah. We do not arm ourselves with enough firepower to level small countries just to go grocery shopping. We do not shoot the creatures of the land where I am (there is no point, it will only annoy them - and the last thing you want is an enraged quokka charging you, howling for blood.)
Oh indeed not, thought Australia had similar rules to the UK but I beg indulgence here as my firearms laws knowledge in your country is limited. It’s why I said emergency rounds. I thought they’d be of use against the various tyranids you live with, though as you’ve said, probably not. I wasn’t even thinking of the wildlife. If some of those come at you you’re pretty screwed. Agreed. Especially on the loss of the truly unique units. Guess we’ll find out Monday what the damage is.
We will see, the Blinks, Fireflies and Scarecows seems, to me, that they split the Hexas into three probably in more interesting ways than a single unit could achieve, of course we need to wait and see what the profiles are and what the reworks are.
Oh yes. Firearms here are controlled rather like the UK. Outside of farmers and sporting club shooters (pretty much a requirement otherwise - you must be a member of a registered club to have a chance of getting granted a permit (and there's a list of mental issues and/or criminal activities that will also deny you). Handguns up to a certain calibre are permitted and there are capacity limits on private handguns (police get to use the full sized magazines), and rifles/shotguns have capacity limits and can only be semi-auto or bolt action, and there are some calibre limits. Not sure of the specifics, as I've been out of that scene since before the laws got changed (Port Arthur incident).
I haven't seen any significant discussion about it, what are your thoughts about MO and SWF in N5? I'd expect to see a significant amount of cleanup, particularly in SWF, which is a hot mess construction-wise.
