Limited Insertion was always a harder choice, no doubt about it, but when it was a supported and even encouraged choice, you'd definitely see it more often and it could be run with great affect.

Oh I know, my brother loves his MO but unless you're playing a Room mission it's hard to play just Big Stompy Bois.
Terrifyingly N4 made his Gecko bros better fortunately he's been off getting a doctorate so I've mostly been saved from his nonsense.

A good game MUST be suitable for both, competitive and non competitive players. Your fun shouldn't prevent others from having fun.

Seems like N5 is stating a change. Generics look a lot more like sectorials. Better harmonization will make the game easier to develop.

Mostly agree. Seems like they're changing fireteams rules and giving generics fireteams too. I prefer rules that have no extreme effects. I think the changes are well directed.

I've thought a lot about that but I'm not that sure, specially now that generics won't get the whole roaster. Sectorials may include some extreme profiles that give them better differentiation without unbalancing the generic.

    Same as 5.

I think we are trying too hard to understand N5 after only having a sneak peak.

Interesting thread. I found that I could have written something very similar, as I dropped out of N4 about a year ago as our local meta was only about the tournament, cut-throat super-efficiency mindset. I only came back to the forums recently, as I had heard rumblings of N5 and was curious.

#1: Totally agree. (Tournament only players are an issue to those of us who just want to roll dice, and have some fun.)
#2: Only for the perspective that there is only one 'points-efficient' profile, last I played.
#3: Sectorials are OK, but there was vast disparities between some armies' effectiveness of their FT.
#4: Intriguing concept of pre-built FT. Would probably get some people upset though.
#8: This was my experience as well. It seemed to go down to a, "Win the roll, go 1st, and Rambo your most effective piece until the enemy has lost 5-7 orders." [This drove my best friend out of the game.]

Is there an overview thread of what changes have been announced so far for N5? Release date?

I don't think this one is going away- Airborne Deployment and its peers have always been really strong against newer players (I've learned never to take it against people I don't know outside tournaments). Infinity punishes poor defensive deployment hard due to the basic design of the game, if you are ever starting out in a fairly competitive local game scene I'd recommend asking for deployment tips from some more established players- I've personally never met a player who isn't happy to talk. Once you've got the basics of deployment down pat, those kinds of sweeps get less common (though can still happen due to dice).

Interesting - in our meta, it wasn't AD that was the problem. It was smoke shenanigans or HI ML setups. Also, pain train HI fireteams were a big thing. [The MO HI one, with Joan of Arc was a particularly bad memory.] Still interested to see what N5 changes though.
