Ok for what I’m not happy with. (I'm actually happy for the most part) There are very few good cheap troops. Almost nothing good under 20pts. Zhanshi, Doc, Eng, Weibing, for specialists. Shaolin and Kuang Shi for warbands. We don’t know yet if the KS still need a CG controller since there’s no longer CG. Hopefully the new troops are cheap-ish. But after Zhanshi hacker, the next cheap specialist is Zhanying FO 21pts, everything from there on jumps to 25pts+ range. Of course we don't know about the few new troops yet. So it looks like YJ will be easily outnumbered again. 30 of the 51 entries are hackable. Over half the force. That we know of. I’m upset with no Beasthunter. He was one of my favorites in YJ because we had the best one. It was my main hunter killer. I'm also disappointed in no Ye Mao. The KHD was a great specialist for going into cybermask and then jumping around to get to an objective. A great all around troop. Mildly irked about losing Motorized Bounty Hunters. Back again to no bikers. Again a loss of a good cheap troop. I liked the Red Fury MBH. Everything else was pretty expected but I think it shows how much YJ depended on some mercs.
The problem is, everyone is getting the prices re-work. YJ might get a couple points shaved off of some HI but that doesn't help when your expensive HI specialist is surrounded by cheap Chimera, Morans and Koalas. Fingers crossed.
Longwang means King-Dragon (but, yeah, it's funny to say it in English) :) EDIT : just for fun (sorry, I don't bother to add all the accents on words) Feiquan : Flying fist (can't see the second kanji, but it looks like it) Gudan Troops : solitary troops Yin-Shé Unit : Silver-Serpent unit
Well people complained long and hard on mercs and far too many units in generic lists, people got what they asked. Most probably many of the mercenary units will have their place in the sectorials they belong and make sense.
That’s true. Unfortunately, YJ relied on them much more than other factions. Monstrucker was our best Engineer, MBH were are only fast attack, Liberto and beashunter our only cheap midfield skirmisher. I just realized no Liang Kai too.
I just saw the same complaints on PanO section on discord. I just want to say that if a faction, any faction, has to relate on out-of-faction units to operate reliably, then this faction isn't constructed properly. Personally I consider inclusion of most of the mercs a mistake, they were (are?) cheap and useful units that overshadowed in-faction options. With their departure those options will have some space breathing space again, and it's likely many of them will see changes to make them more useful. On a side note, man, I really don't like relying on discord, forum is so much more comfortable to use and actually discuss things.
The libertos, beasthunters, diggers and other bounty-hunters are very enjoyable too play, but sadly they're just far too good for their cost. It's hard to justify spending 20 to 30pts on subpar gunfighter when you can get two pieces that will easily trade up and make a better screen for the same price. It's a good thing for internal balance to see them go, but then again, I just expect them to be replaced by more kuang-shi (who had essentially vanished from vanilla lists) and monks.
As long as WB keeps the Beasthunter I am fine. I rarley played vanilla. Libertos was a nice to have. But I am pretty excited to see what we got for ISS (and if they got an update besides the regular N5 update). Silversnakesare also in - good to know.
As a native Chinese speaker, Gu Dan is a pretty awful name for a unit (supposedly a lone operator?) Long Wang is dragon king so fits a TAG nicely. Feiquan- Flying fist. Hope it's a unit with cool martial arts skills.
I believe this will be the Yu Jing version of flying vehicle that it seems all the factions are getting.
From this video they said ISS is going to get a "massive redesign" and "will receive new units." Meaning more than we see right now.
While I do understand the temporary discomfort and the in some cases drastic shift in gameplay, I believe the expulsion of mercenaries from the generic list, the increase of sectorial only units and the possible relegation of mercenary units only in sectorials is the best move forward.
I really don't mind not having so many mercs as long as they replaced with something for those that relied on them. Also it looks like from the background on Gudan, see here, we will be getting some new cheap-ish troops. They seem to be a step up from Zhanshi. They are "tunnel fighters" raised from the Zhanshi ranks. The image shows an SMG I think. I can't say I like the look of them from the image. But I'm one of those that thinks fur over armor is silly looking. I can't only think it's for "looks". Silver Snakes sound awesome. They are a troop I thought of a long time ago before WB existed. So they are TAG killers with plenty of AP and E/M. And the Dragon King! Oh man I'm excited for this! It also sounds like the pilot is a bit more than a regular pilot in some way. Maybe a good specialist too?
