It was a rethorical question, I know you don't have numbers. Which is why I doubt your claim. At the time of Uprising, a lot of Yu-Jing players were also fine with JSA splitting up and started collecting them. Let's not forget that we often hear the angry minority rather than the happy majority. Especially on these forums, I would say...
You just requested numbers/data for sales. If you are going to say something about happy YJ players enjoying Uprising I want hard numbers and evidence, otherwise don't bother with such nonsence
Do you have numbers to say the majority are happy? Or even any anecdotal evidence? Edit to actually provide something useful to the conversation: One way this Achilles thing could have been less damaging would be to introduce new formerly-ALEPH characters directly to the CA side instead of replacing the ALEPH side, ones without existing rules and models. It could have retained most of the impact as a plot point without annoying what is inarguably a fair number of people.
No, as I said before, my question was of course rethorical because such numbers are not accessible, which is exactly why one should refrain from claiming "CB is losing money because of the Uprising". On the other hand, I feel pretty confident while claiming that JSA is selling very well and is filling CB pockets. Uprising was a first clear marker of that, JSA becoming a full faction with numerous new releases now is another one. Anyway, CB even said that JSA is selling super well, it's not exactly a mystery of something you can just ignore. That's not hard numbers, but that's already much more than what you have :) Oh, also, are you seriously denying that some Yu-Jing players may have liked the Uprising? Because that would be nonsense, indeed. Where did I say the majority was happy? I just reminded you that someone is much more prone and motivated to come to a forum and rant if he is pissed about something, compared to someone mildly happy or who doesn't care. That's a well-known fact, a behaviour that you can also find in online reviews, and a huge bias. If these forums were representative of CB fanbase, they wouldn't have a business for a looooooong time considering the proportion of people who just spend their days complaing about how terrible CB is. And again, it surely annoys a fair number of people. But obviously, according to CB, it will make much more people happy. You're very welcome, my dear. Happy to enlight you.
CB make a great game, doesn't stop them from being rather out of touch on a number of things. They're one of the better game companies, but they could still be better, and it's infuriating to see them make amateur mistakes (or worse, anti-consumer decisions) given the high points they've managed to hit. Remember, despite being cheap for a miniatures game Infinity is still a full-on luxury product. They will always be held to a high standard simply because of the prices they ask for. I'd be a lot more forgiving if it wasn't so expensive to collect and getting worse with the sharp decline in blisters, generally rising prices, and ridiculous number of convention exclusives. I'm personally already at the point where if they drop rules support for my models I'll just switch to proxy for the occasional casual game, and I used to be an enthusiastic tournament player. It's just not worth the cost for a model that could have a WYSIWYG shelf life of under two years, let alone an army of them.
The only YJ players I know that were happy with the split were the ones already playing JSA! Or had majority JSA figures.
Of course they are making mistakes. But to me, things like Uprising or the current Achilles thing are not. I fail to see how this is connected to the topic (or very mildly). People are not ranting about Ko-Dali for 15 years because they lost money. They are ranting because a toy was taken away from them. Same for Uprising (in most cases, I could understand exceptions) and for the current Achilles thing (even if we don't know yet what's going to happen). Infinity is not an expensive game, miniature-wise. Some people are making it expensive by buying every single mini in the faction and then, getting another faction, and another, etc...
YES. YES, you dense individual. That is, in fact, the problem. People spend a lot of MONEY on these toys. Money that could be spent on other toys. By removing the ability to use them, CB are, in fact, taking away toys. This is, unsurprisingly I would gather, a BAD THING. While it may be cheap for a miniatures wargame, even a minimum 300pts list costs a week's grocery budget for raw, unpainted materials. This is before considering the time involved in assembling, painting and actually putting together a list. AS SUCH, it feels AWFUL to have all that work and money wasted because the rules team couldn't be stuffed spending the three minutes to update Army or felt this one would look better in CA. I'm not demanding a change from the developers or trying to rile up the community, I am expressing my displeasure at the turn of events so CB can see I, and anyone else who cares to join in, am unhappy, to provide that data you are so frigging fond of. And I keep engaging with you in particular because you have been interrupting any conversation where people are upset over this change and demanding they accept it without complaint, then have the gall to say that "complaints and negativity" have been driving people from the forums when basically every one of the multi-page long arguments for the past three days has been started by you whining about other people! This is really rude and hypocritical, and brushing off the concerns of others as valueless is starting to make me angry. I am rarely this direct, but you've pushed other posters (and arguably me!) to the point of personal attacks with your provocations, please show a little more tact.
I wonder if Aleph will be the next Faction we get more information about? I would love to get Faction information every Monday.
Can we say Horus Heresy? As a Bakunin moderator, I told u so Songs of the rebellion ; Keep the faith. PanO one for u too.
It is completely off-topic, but Flesh eater corps are Bretonnia... an entire faction turned undead and in Warmachine there are several characters (Sturgis and Asphyxious come to mind) that actually turned faction (from smurf to cryx the former and the latter I don't remember but from cryx). So long as CB (reading me here????!) makes it worth my while they can pull whatever shenanigan they have in mind... right now however it better be REALLY worth it, time for ALEPH big time, not like in the past!
I don't want hasty replacemants for Team Achilles. Some people almost demanded them, but it is still about reducing the number of entries in army. Let's be small for a while and then (inevitably) grow back with nice things, please.
Take a chill pill, pal. NO, that is not the problem. People are not mad about Ko-Dali because they lost 15 bucks 15 years ago. You cannot seriously believe that so stop being of bad faith. About the Uprising, I said that it was mostly not the reason either, even though I specifically added that it could be part of it in some cases (a Yu-Jing player having tons of JSA for example). The reality is that most people are annoyed because of the impact on the way they play the game, that's it. Because they lost a profile they liked, a list they cannot do anymore, etc... And for the millionth time, it doesn't mean throwing away your minis. You can still play with them, you can proxy, you can expose them, etc... For the millionth time as well, we don't know what will happen with Achilles, N5 and all this, so you may not even have a point at all. Yeah, I love data,. This is usually what differentiates facts and constructive discussions VS the useless (and often wrong) complaints that are currently flourishing all over the forums. I have nothing against people being unhappy or upset. I do have something against people whining for no reasons, or about things that they don't know yet how they will turn out. And surely, I'm responsible of all the mess. Without my interventions, the forums would be calm and peaceful, as they always are, right? No, they would be full of people ranting about almost everything CB does, as usual. Again, you're barking at the wrong tree. Also, it would be fine for these people to rant as much as they want, but I would have to shut up? Nope, not going to happen. I'd like to enjoy these forums for what they are supposed to be (a place where you can exchange about all the aspects of the game), something which is rendered nearly impossible for years considering the skyrocketing negativity and toxicity. Today, it's about Achilles, but the rest of the year, it's about a million other reasons. It never stops. You don't like me pointing out these kind of people? Too bad for you, deal with it. Or put me on that magical ignore list and call it a day. Now let's stop this off-topic and go back to the topic, would you? Cheers,
Since this affair this week, I've seen so much salt passed around, there's even been several bans on the discords.
This has happened before with earlier profile defections and it has always garnered the same response from the community. To expect it to be different this time is naive at best. CB is either very naive or totally ok with this.
It really feels like CB enjoys trolling the community that's paying their bills, I really don't get it
They could either have made Oydsseus an Aleph traitor or introduce Odysseus as a new Aleph hero, which they could still do I guess, but... press X to doubt. Anyway, they didn't because lately CB only lives for the empty hype, new limited editions, new Kickstarters, new sectorials we won't ever flesh out, you won't believe what happened next even if it makes no sense!!! Also, CB hasn't been cheap for a miniatures game for a long time now, even Shatterpoint is probably cheaper or at least on par and that's having the Star Wars franchise overcost attached Edit so I don't add more replies: -first, afaik Flesheater Courts haven't been ever confirmed as the Bretonnians of old, mainly because AoS is a different world with only some heroes from the Old World showing up. And Bretonnians were already discontinued for ages when FEC showed up, so they didn't replace them. -second, yes, Warmachine had characters changing sides, but you conveniently left out the fact they were NEW profiles and characters for all purposes and the former version was never removed form the faction that played it first, so it was more of a lore thing without gameplay repercussions. If CB had gone this way none of this would be happening.
Everyone is paying their bills. It would have been way less impactful than having some of Aleph's best known face, someone who's supposed to be humanity's champion against the alien menace, to betray and join the latter. Who would have care about the betrayal of some unknown new face? That's quite easy to understand.
So basically you are saying that CB doesn't care about customers nor narrative logic and only goes for the big twist like OMG Cersei nuked the sept, which is exactly my point. By the way, probably you don't know shit about Odysseus lore, but him coming back as a CA convert would make sense and be a believable twist while working as a parallel to the real Odyssey with him coming back home and killing all the suitors, tho I'm pretty sure all this goes over your little trollish head. Would still be better than yet another "but it was a Skrull all along!"
