We dont have any other way to know if a unit is played or not, so... Yes, ITS is an absolute truth Yeah, having a living lore is the reason and not "fans" gatekeeping the newbies
I'm saying what if they did something like the Aragoto are now in YJ and no longer JSA. People would loose their minds at something like that. I've been wanting bikers in YJ since we lost them.
Absolute truth? "My data is biased, incomplete and only accounts for a fraction of % of what's happening but this is all I have so it's the absolute truth!" Sure, sure... Hopefully, you're not doing science as a job. Don't make a fool of yourself like that, please.
My solution? Where did I say I have a solution? I just asked you and your pal to stop making screwy peremptory assertions based on thin air. No need to invent facts to, again, painstakingly try to win an argument. It's childish. When you don't know, you don't know.
I'm not saying I forgive CB for Ko Dali, it hurts me every time my local CA player uses her to smash my face and eat my loyal citizens but I have accepted it. I'd rather have Mongol Nomad Bikers in Yu Jing that New Tokyo street bike gangs.
If you don't have data, you don't have data. You don't claim exhaustiveness, you discuss the lack of sufficient information in the discussion and consider pathways to obtain said data. One approach is through the narrative campaigns, for example, which are non-ITS, but generally have decent data in them, as people upload their lists. We have a currently ongoing narrative campaign, we have the annual narrative events by CB, you can get hundreds of games that way, but someone will have to trawl through an annoyingly heterogenous ways for presenting said data. Another is to ask the warcors to provide information from their local scenes. A third is to launch a survey among the players, asking them to nominate top 3/5//10 units they are using. So yes, there are ways. This said, people also should not get to claim that the only dataset we have is vastly wrong because anecdotal local evidence says so. If we don't know, we don't know and we should admit that, then go and fix it.
I'm not denying usefullness to the ITS data. I just claim (and it's factual) that it only represents a tiny fraction of the games and that it is not representative at all of the average Infinity game (because much more people play casual rather than very competitive tournaments). ITS tournament data tells us what's played in ITS tournaments. That's it. One should stop trying to make it tell more than it can.
do you have any proof that ITS games are a minor portion of the total? because in the 2 or 3 comunities that im in touch with, ITS games are the standard and almost no other games are played, except maybe training/testing for that ITS games. And not all ITS tournaments are ultracompetitive environements. Last saturday, for example. 8 players tournament, 3 of them total noobs with 4 games or less, and we were teaching them and helping with the game, while chatting and rolling some dices to say goodbye to N4. We abandoned the competitive tournaments long ago. We play for fun and all the prizes are raffled. The important thing is have fun and create a nice comunity, so the new people want to stay. Ultracompetitive players and tryharders are welcome, but usually leave in less than a year when they find no one want to play with them
outside of local meta a data set we ourselves only have access to, ITS data is the only data set we all have access to, it is not an exhaustive data set and can be improved, if more people submit their lists, but it is a point of discussion we all have common access to.
I already said it. Marketing 101. Questionnaires/Surveys/etc. They can get data from all registered players and put it out ever 3-6 months. They can get what faction they play currently What is their favorite faction Favorite Lt. Favorite specialist Favorite etc Top troops they play What missions they regularly play
ITS games and ITS tournaments are two very different things, don't act like you can't see the difference. You can play ITS at home in a very casual way. ITS tournaments games (and thus, this data) only accounts for a tiny fraction of all Infinity games played, ITS or not, period. Really, stop embarrassing yourself, you don't have to die on that hill buddy. It's ok.
Not sure what would that questionnaire reveal more that what sales data and ITS usage would already reveal.
I've been in marketing and advertising for 25+ years. They can do a lot. They can get the same information from non-ITS players and add them together to a better whole picture. Add sales numbers to that and even better. There's many many questions that can be asked to get information they want. They can make the simple Yes/No, Select one, Good/Bad/No opinion, then can be as complex as scales like I agree to I don't agree. Do you play for fun? Do you play for ITS tournaments? Do you find the rules easy to remember? Do you use the free app? Are you subscribed to our newsletter? What is your opinion of Sicocast? Good? Bad? Indifferent? They can also do promotions to win X when you fill out the questionnaire. I just filled out a survey for Adobe that will give $300 to a random person that filled out the survey.
*Sticks head into forum* So what did I miss? Sorry. Couldn’t resist. I left this thread alone this morning and there’s been so many posts. Some valid points and posts… others sadly not so much which is upsetting as the forums have generally been quite calm of late. It will be interesting to see what happens in the days ahead. It may or may not be enjoyable, it may or may not be fun for everyone. But at least it won’t be boring.
Last video indicates more generic lists restructuring will be revealed, CA was a good indicator, of course people forget the most important part that is missing, units AVA.
I dont feel embarrased, you think i must feel embarrased? Why? Oh, yeah, you can buy a one shot code and report a game in your house with your wife, but is not a common thing. In 12 years i saw that like two or three times. So, for me, ITS games and ITS tournaments are the same. And tournaments are tournaments, it doesnt matter if competitive or friendly. If you only conceive tournaments as places to find who is the most tryharder player, im really sorry for you and your community.
