Oh they better give SP something to make up for losing 5 characters, one of which they just got (pandora) and a flagship model/character (achilles)... but losing models is going to sting regardless and replacements will be tainted by the fact SP only got Paris (or whoever) *because* they lost Achilles. Just kills me because CA already *has* an Achilles in the form of Sheskin
Also, judging by how they did with replacing Tohaa with Spiral... I am not holding my breath the new stuff will adequately replace the old flagship model
Well, junking a character that had 2 models (more if you count special releases) and was a popular mainstay of the faction is certainly a....choice. Say what you will about GW, they have never gone "Hey, Kharn the Betrayer is an Ork now, buy the new green version."
SP was so underpowered and was doing so bad lately... Not sure they can survive this (still very hypothetical, let's remind it) loss!
Hector also wears hoplite armor, like the two proxy Mk4 models, and possibly the new sculpt for Ajax. Not explicitely stated in the proxies, but the shape is nearly the same. not with "fans" like you, that's for sure.
Don't tease me. She would be a near auto include in generic Haqqislam But I am a proponent of waiting for how all the changes pan out first. The streamlining of Generic CA was pretty substantial. Who knows what will happen to Generic Aleph?
Especially if playing with no model limit. Man, it would be so broken I see only one way to make things right again after such a thing. Spoiler: What would we have to do... And all the other vanilla armies. That's going to be interesting...

Losing these characters actually doesn't do anything to SP. The only profile that was seeing a lot of play in competitive lists was Pandora, and while losing her does hurt, it's far from the end of the world. Achilles didn't really fit into how SP likes to build and play. Drakios and Teuecer are memes and basically trash garbo in their current form. What this does do is hurt vAleph p significantly, who very much liked Achilles as a pointman. I do generally agree with the sentiment that I hope Aleph gets some stuff as well though.
At first, I was a bit chirped that Achilles was being taken away. I was not thrilled losing Patroclus in N4. I got into this game with SP, so they are always my prime faction... BUT I am also interested in seeing how CB will alter the landscape with a handful (a very POWERFUL handful) of Myrmidons jumping to the EI - and how they'll explain it. Add in the idea that the AI might simply produce a sanitized version of Achilles - and having the two meet in battle might be fun as well. So, I'll wait until I see what the final result is, then I'll rage (for about 3 minutes) about what a crap idea it is, then I'll remember how much I hate GW and love CB, and I'll move forward...and continue enjoying this amazing game. M.
To be fair, it's not that they were not good characters, but that new additions to SP and other factions make it hard to justify their use. When Achilles can be neutered in melee by troops that cost a third or less with enough order investment and how NBW and other cheap tools to increase CC prowess without raising the cost becomes the usual, deploying him is harder and harder. Teucer was suffering because of Atalanta's Total Reaction already, and the Hidden Deployment make it even more. The ML Makhe took most of the rest by virtue of not having the biometric visor and NWI, but NCO and 7pts cheaper with -1 CC and -1BS, but +1ARM and +3 BTS... plus linking with the cheaper thorakitai in a 4man link (teucer can link with 2 thorakitai at most). Drakios was never top tier because he was an assault loner troop with just the Albedo and the Red Fury, and losing the opportunity to carry two heavy flamethrower devabots in N4 hurt him even more. As for Patroclus, he was removed for two reasons, first to eliminate the linked holomask (streamlining rules by removing one that existed for a single model, thus hurtful but acceptable) and second to justify the Hoplite as a new, cheaper HMG platform. Pandora simply was Thamyris with 2 medikits and SMGs, making the profile suddenly great for a second "doctor" linked with Myrmidons. If we had a paramedic Myrmidon I'm not sure she would have been so used, simply because when the only effect enemy hackers can impose directly on you is Marked State, not entering the hacking game becomes attractive. They cannot meet, Aleph has been stated in the lore time and again as blocking and isolating at best, deleting entirely as usual measure, the CUBE data from any individual that had been sepsitorized, not just Aspects or Recreations. This is because Aleph's way of stating someones ID is to make use of all of the data to predict the answers said individual would give to a series of questions that would change always, and if you have a sepsitorized version of someone with access to sensitive data (and in the case of Achilles that would be Aleph itself) then the AI has no way to differenciate the two. Also, it is a law in the Human Sphere that you can't have 2 instances of the same person incarnated, like in Altered Carbon (and, the same way this was a critical plot point in the third book, it was a critical plot point in the first graphic novel of Infinity, Outrage).
Sometimes reshuffles are either needed or used to bring new things to the story and the gameplay, while I can understand the feel of loss of some units leaving the faction, it is also an opportunity to clear some cluttered design space and work out something new.
Something new like old characters playing in new colors ripped from a faction to give them a new enviorment. Something new like BS15 24" / B4 platform. Except "human character is sepsitorized" is a story we've seen before that never actually has a resolution or payoff; it's just bad writing. Frankly, in Combined Army, I don't want this dude; I didn't play the faction to use Achilles.
Giving to the combined army, which was already the strongest faction in the game, Achilles and others greek heroes was exactly what was needed to balance the game. Thanks cb. We'll see what Aleph, Pano, Yu Jing and all the other factions get in return (maybe 1 or 2 new profiles? ).
