Well, they might be reclassifying Ratink as a TAG for N5. Or Bostria might be wrong / using a mental shortcut / misunderstood on that. This has happened before, after all. So, despite Bostria being the official spokesperson for Infinity, I take him with a pinch of salt. It is just more or less rumors - if well-founded, when they come directly from Bostria - until the stuff is released and in the rules. And even then it can still yet be amended.
We're not immune to mistakes. During the waves of Kosmoflot releases, Bostria said that the ariadna would receive its first remotes, that day the tracktor mul wept a lot.
Most likely Great. Ôban 大番 (great guard) was one of the 3 shogunate forces during the edo period, tasked with guarding the Kyoto and Osaka castles.
Everyone can and will make mistakes, especially when fatigued and when they have access to so much information that gets revised so many times.
Blog article summarizing the various announcements : https://infinitytheuniverse.com/blog/infinity-summer-2024 N5 pushes the fluff 5 years forward.
I wonder when the N5 rulebook will be released? EDIT: I also think that for the Battle Box Splash Page, that is a Swiss Guard Reinforcement profile: SMG, Pulzar, with CC Skills. That would be perfect.
Thanks for sharing! Most exciting things I took away from that article that I didn't know before: "revising vanilla armies" "JSA will come with two sectorial armies" One of them will basically be the JSA from N4
The revising of vanilla armies is particularly interesting. I assume a cull of profiles is coming. Maybe more fireteam options in vanilla?
Bostria said something about fireteams in Vanilla, not sure yet how that will materialize, I heard from some attendees about a October 20th release window, but I am not sure I have seen that as an official date somewhere.
Well, it's not like we don't have Fireteams in Vanilla today (if limited to Fireteam: Duo). Sure, CB may want to build up from there, and give Vanilla armies Fireteam Haris, or even Core. Since the introduction of fireteams back in N2HS, the difference between vanilla and sectorial armies was wider array of units available, vs fireteams (and their bonuses) available. CB can be about to change that. Or not. So far, we don't know. I wonder a bit if we are going to see a FoW online campaign this year - they're always a lot of fun - but if it were to happen in September 2024, we should be hearing about it already, I guess. So, probably not... which is a pity. Oh well.
It might happen, but I do not think it will be a thing before N5, N5 sets the new theater of operations.
It would be interesting if Factions could only form "pure" fireteams and Sectorials can form both "mixed" and "pure." That may change the dynamics a bit. For example, PanO has Fusiliers and ORCs, Nomads have Alguaciles and Mobile Brigada; with the options of every trooper but at limited AVA still. Sectorials remain the same as they are.
I just looked at the name of this thread again and the reason I originally started it, and I realized that CB must have been thinking pretty much the same thing as me. They were kinda done with all the projects of the last years, filled out most of the missing profiles, and so had to answer the question: What's next? Looking at it from that perspective, using this moment to launch the next edition is (imo) perfect timing. It gives them the opportunity to start a whole new cycle of "the hot new thing" for the next years.
i hope the fireteams in generic got limited to a single core of line infantries and a couple of haris, only pure, no mixing troops. If you want more fireteam flavors, go to sectorials
I was at the seminar, don't remember hearing anything about Fireteams in Vanilla. Feel like that would have been bigger news. But I can confirm N5 in mid-October.
If they do haris or core in fireteams in vanilla, then I think they should be very limited as to what's in it. No wildcards too. So like, Zhanshi only.
