I hear from booth at Gencon. CB doesn't currently have plans to do stat cards beyond the initial box (or small releases). But Carlos said if there's a strong ask from the community that could change… Imo it would be a great advantage and especially great for new players… in addition to that: Once the statcards with pictures are ready the pics in our beloved army builder are not so far anyway ;)
please no. This is not Shatterpoint. We dont need to put even more stuff in the tables. The printed list is more than enough
Statcards for 10-15 units? It is easier with an app anyway. Plus no need to reprint them after updates. Updates and fixes in some lists would be for sure... (also we could talk about "less printing - saving trees"... But not so serious.)
For the initial battle pack purchase as a contact point with a new player stat cards makes sense, when they buy their second box or blister, they should have already hopefully engaged with Infinity army.
The answer "I do not want or need that stuff" is missing.... Why do cards when you have a free App with included rulebook links and printed out lists straight out of it??
Didn´t we already know, latest from the blog info, that these cards are in the beginner box for "Infinity essentials"? What I would like to see is a picture of the troops in army. At least to a linkable database that show the actual look of the troop.
It's true that it's a lot to ask, for the multilingual aspect of the application they refused to put it in French because it was too complicated and they were afraid of not having permanent help to avoid making mistakes. The army is very strangely designed, all the information for each unit is entered one by one, and the language option is an independent database itself, with entries entered manually, rather than a database search function that would work like a translation glossary. Which explains why profiles sometimes don't match. In their strangely less-than-optimal software architecture, if images had to be included, this would mean that for each profile, the programmer would have to search for the photo of the miniature, doing so twice for Spanish and English. Infinity must have around 1,500 units, two languages, so 3,000 units, hello endless work.
Yeah i guess its still legacy coming from the fan based software where the developer(s?) might never thought it would have that impact… thanks to unknown anyhow! :) - Even if database architecture is suboptimal and redundant this could be solved by code which would insert the pics to the right tables imo. The infinity army app was revolutionary at its time and is still one of best apps in wargaming imo - it would be great to see more functional updates in that app, at least pictures of units ;) I really spend a lot of time using the app and its fun to use and to build armies! It would be a game changer having those great artworks and or pics of this extraordinary minis integrated - from many perspectives: usability, fun and i would think even in a business point of view! But im going of topic - sorry :)
New players are going to really benefit from having stat cards. Currently you give the opponent a courtesy list which most regular players will maybe read through to discover what loadouts you have on some minis but new players of those unfamiliar with the opponents faction refer to it constantly. Some minis are never on a courtesy list like Hidden deploy/camo or Ad troops so having a card to show the opponent all of the relevant open information is really handy.
This Cards are quite nice for beginners. But even Games with Cards as essential part like warma removed them because the majority of the players dislike them. Plus the update problems. Card are okay for board games but not for wargames
yeah, i see the updates could be showstopper for highend printed stat cards - another good reason to go for a selfprint statcard funtionality in the army app with pics or artwork ;)
I would love to see, either Fan made or not, "essentials" conversion kits for older operations packs. I've just got a kaldstrom painted up nice and would love to teach people N5 with it.
I think they are great for beginners. It's good for learning what figures go with what stats. Every time I do a demo or have new players constantly asking what figure is what. Even I have problems when I first start a new faction or playing against one I'm not familiar with. Then adding proxies on top of that, it can be a mess.
