I looked at Swiss Miss video, and I get where you’re going. However, if I draw a parallel with Infinity, it would be like making a demo game with one Orc, a medic and 3 fusiliers. It would be really hard with so few units to really understand the subtleties of Infinity. I will wait equally, mainly because I’m really looking forward to Feudom (yes I’m a sucker for French knights and priests!) and the Goblins of the Scions (less fan of the zombies, but I really love the aesthetic and vibe of the gobs!). I’ll certainly buy the books at release though
The demo was in the booth of the main hall and I understand how they need to need to keep them short. However, they should have had a bigger, longer demo table by the Infinity Tournament. Oh something to note is that it's on a 3x3' board and confirmed the number of figs is from 10-20 depending on what you take and the force you are playing.
I for one like that there is a mankind or similar faction in these games. If humanity was not in a universe/world I would hope that a species of dwarf, halfling,or human-like group is present. Squats in 40k being humans that became dwarf-like due to controlled cloning. Though a unique faction/species might surprise me. Tau in 40k, or some of the various fantasy species/factions I can't remember right now. Hoping to find that faction that clicks for me in Warcrow if possible.
I don't mind humans. It's the European historical looking ones I don't like. I'm a little bored with Tolkien fantasy tropes I guess. I wish the first box has the Scions. Those guys look cool-creepy!
The problem with Scions is that it's a big hit-or-miss faction I guess for a new game's launch, and I can understand CB not being confident enough for them to act as poster-beings for their new IP, if the aesthetics of the faction is too weird for the taste of the general public.
I can't agree on that. If they had the empire and the Scions in the main box, I’d be all in. I also know a few that feel the same way. Some of them started Conquest because they had good twist on the norm. If it wasn’t so expensive and rank-n-flank I’d consider trying it out. I’ve considered also Warcry but I’m not a fan of GW games and prices. They could have gone with one “traditional” army and one “original” army, they could have gotten both types of customers. I really like the Red Caps too. But from what I heard from Hoopoe they are not going to be in the skirmish game. I hope that changes.
That would be exceptions to the rule, not the rule. I need to recollect how Conquest started, it had some weirdness from the start but I am not sure on the starting factions.
Wow! The mini is cool! Is it from the Scion faction? Wow! The mini is cool! Is it from the Scion faction?
They started with the equivalent to the Scion Immortals aliens "Elves" using body alternating magic/science (Biomancy is what it's called) to create monsters and buff themselves. Not sure on the second army. Also that figures showing is awesome! What faction is it?
Scions are getting a huge amount of miniatures with Adventures, which is working as an unofficial Scions starter until their Skirmish starter comes out, which is currently in fun tilt production (you can see assembly videos on the Liya International YouTube page). When I spoke to Hoopoe at Gen Con they were planning to have the Redcaps playable in Scions to begin with.
Are there any updates on production and estimated shipping dates? No replies on KS and the usual update rhythm stopped a while ago :(
There are videos of the Chinese factory where Corvus assembles its miniatures for the board game. A selection: So it's progressing towards the end, I suppose by now they've finished the assembly, all that's left is to assemble the rest of the material if the printing is ok, then it's off to shipping, which could however have some disappointments due to certain problems with yuan yuan in certain straits...
Hundred Kingdoms The Spires Dweghom Nords W'adhun These were the starter factions. Since then three new ones have been added: Old Dominion - Roman themed City States - Greek themed Sorcerer Kings - Middle Eastern themed A total of 8 factions now.
I saw the new Sorcerer Kings at adepticon. Very cool looking. If it wasn't so expensive I'd consider it.
Only the larger size than normal 25mm-32mm, scale is preventing me from diving into the Dweghon. They unfortunately would not fit with my other ranges. But if there was a player base nearby I'd might grab them over time.
The game (Conquest: last argument of kings) is growing pretty fast. Here's a little something to give a little bit of an idea of how it plays:
Supposedly you can play it as a skirmish. But you will need to buy boxes of figures meant for rank-n-flank. I have yet to see how it’s even played as a skirmish. Warcry is almost as bad. There’s some Warcry bands but it’s possible to play the other Sigmar armies. But again, you need to buy boxes of 10 figures when you only need/want 2. So far Warcrow is almost the way I want it. A little bit more mix and match and not needing to buy a lot of figures you would never use.
I think First Blood is still pretty large size for a skirmish, but haven't looked at it in a while. It was like 30+ on each side. Warcrow looks to be fun, though I wish normal dice. I'll get the starter box for sure. Warcry teams are good, but the prebuilt teams aren't as strong usually as building a team from generic minis, so it isn't really well balanced. Relicblade is probably the simplest.
