Hi, I’m new to infinity and have been researching factions and liked the looks of Ariadna mainly due to the SAS, wolves, bears and camo usage.

I have picked up the crimson stone starter pack, a devil dog and bearpode so far. (Hopefully antepod and mirage 5 soon too)

I am playing a tutorial game soon, I’ve been researching and have started looking at lists I like. I would appreciate some more advice on my list so I can start list building and painting while I learn the game.

Vanilla wise this is something I liked the look of…

    gS0HYXJpYWRuYQ9WYW5pbGxhIEFyaWFkbmGBLAIBAAkBhH4BBAAChe4BCQADhe4BCQAEhe4BCQAFgQcBAQAGgO0BBAAHgO0BBAAIgPEBAQAJhfIAAQACAAUBgOQBCAAChQQBkpkAA4DuAQUABIDuAQUABYLwAYoLAA%3D%3D

Although I really wanted Duroc and Margot, and the unknown ranger in the list too which seem to be popular choices from what I’ve read but ran out of points.

TAK / Kosmoflot are an option but there’s more access to wolves/bears in vanilla. Although I’m not sure if fireteam benefits are worth it over not using them in vanilla.

Thanks in advance for any advice

I only play USARF, so my knowledge is limited, but one thing I'd say is you're pretty short on "big guns" like missile launchers, HMGs (or AP HMGs), AP spitfires, etc. Which means you may struggle hurting TAGs and Heavy Infantry. It's also risky making your sniper your lieutenant. You want him to "do work", aka take shots, kill things. But he's a one wound model with Dogged, which means one bad face-to-face and you've lost your biggest gun, with the longest range, AND your Lieutenant (putting you into Loss next turn)...

Fair point on the Lt I may have a rethink on that front as having played a few games I can see now why this maybe an issue.

I was under the impression that SAS were good anti TAG models but they don’t have any big guns. I like the tank hunter autocannon so may look at getting some long range fire power in that way if the SAS wouldn’t cut it.

    Thanks for the advice

    2 SWC | 300 Points
    Open in Infinity Army

That is definitely a Skew List as you are strongly relying on Camouflage to avoid AROs and move unimpeded. While you have limited long range firepower, you have so many disposable threats with strong attack capabilities. It looks quite fun, but note that this could be a difficult list to pilot and could have issues against armies with a lot of MSV or sensor.

If I would make a change, I would turn the Para-commando paramedic into a Airborne Ranger FO and use the saved point to upgrade Uxia: A burst 5 assault pistol is a terror and she can now activate objectives. Good luck!

I would advise against playing 300pts games as tutorial.

Start with 3 vs 3 basic infantry (as in the introductory booklet from Crimson Stone, for example).
Follow it up by adding models as in the booklet.
Once you're through, play normal games at 150pts level. Feel free to ask your opponent to skip certain skills / rules in his list until you feel it is the right moment to introduce them (Camouflage or Combat Jump, for example).
Once you're confident you grasp the game at 150pts, advance to 200pts. Rinse, repat, go for 250pts, and then to 300pts.

Every player I've talked to who started at full-sized level regretted it.
Infinity is a game of many rules, and increasing the game size increases the complexity. Learning curve tends to be steep, and jumping straight into the deep water is usually frustrating.

So take small steps and don't be afraid to play with kid gloves on.
It is a game, it is meant to be fun. Getting your butt kicked all the time because you don't know certian rules or interactions or there's too much for you to grasp is the opposite of having fun.

Thanks for your advice, I was really trying to get a list together so I had some focus on what to prioritise buying and painting but it I fully intend only playing small level games to get used to the game mechanics. Are there any staple Ariadna models that I could use as a core force to build around and to get painting whilst I’m learning? Thanks

I'm not an Ariadna player, so I can't really tell you.
Still, what you have already listed as the models you own sounds good enough. You have a choice of S2 models, plus a few distinctive larger ones.

Since you're learning the ropes, remember: Infinity is proxy-friendly. Don't be afraid to proxy whatever you dont have at the moment with a model you do have (even if it comes from a different miniature range!), a paper fold-up or even just a token (just make sure the size is close enough to the silhouette).
Once you learn you like the troop well enough to buy it, you can make the purchase of the actual model.

Like @Errhile stated, don't be afraid to proxy. The Volkolak HMG is great in Kosmoflot and good in Vanilla, but maybe try it as a Tankhunter, Vet Kazak, or a Spetsnaz HMG. See how it works for you. Crimson stone gives you a great core of a list with multiple options. And the models are pretty.

For painting, I would leave the Bearpode last as it would probably be the army's centerpiece.
