This has probably been asked and answered, but I'm a bit late to the show on this one - apologies. Looking at many of the Reinforcement models being offered, I noticed that many of the profiles exist ONLY as reinforcements. Aleph pack Alpha and Combined Army pack Alpha were exclusively "Reinforcement" models, while Haqq had 2 models which could be used outside the reinforcement rules. My questions are: 1: Will these models eventually find their way into the main army profiles, either vanilla or sectorials, or is the plan to leave them exclusively as optional "reinforcement: models? 2: Is the plan to keep reinforcements as an optional play style/mode, or is this going to become standard play? M.
All Haqq REF Box Modells have profiles in QK, same with Ariadna REF (all profiles are also in FRRM). But both Sectorials are labeled "playable but discontinued/out of catalogue"
There's a couple of models in the Corregidor reinforcement pack usable outside of reinf, but I'd need to see a "non-reinf" profile to get me to buy the box of 5 for 2 models I can otherwise use.
Hopefully they make them more widely available. Otherwise they will not sell well. In my area no one likes the REF rules as they are now and I'm not positive changes to those rules will help. One store didn't even order any because no one pre-ordered. They almost always get pre-orders for product.
Same situation. People tested reinforcements with proxies and told, that it was funny, but just as an experiment.
You mean Nomads Reinforcments Alpha? There is only the Prowler that is useable outside of RF. And she is Bakunin ;.) Best buy is Haqqislam with all troops can be used outside RF.
I agree. The Haqq REF Box is kind of a Qapu Khalqi Starter Box. - QK has profiles for all 6 Miniatures - RF & HB can use none outside REF - Haqq Vanilla can use 4 out of 6 (SekBans, Hafza, Al'Hawwa) outside REF
I really hope that reinforcement models will be available in regular armies, with tweaked AVAs and/or loadouts, because right now, in my opinion, this significantly hurts the sales of these packs.
And that makes me sure CB will do something about it. No idea what, though. Still, the Reinforcements didn't seem to have become a major success so far, which makes me guess it'll be hurting their bottom line - and that's defintely something they'll want fixed. We've been promised a Reinforcements update in a couple of weeks, we'll see what is in it. I have no idea what could an update do to help some of the core problems (like, in most cases "you need to buy an extra sectorial to play this mode", which is definitely not a beginner-friendly requirement). But hey, the fact I have no idea how to solve it doesn't mean there is no solution out there, so let's wait and see what CB get us in the update.
I really hate that sales and communication method, it's really shady. First, you can really feel how this entire reinforcement thing was put together from a sales point of view rather than from a gameplay point of view. It was not "hey, how can we renew a bit the game and make it cooler" but rather "how can we sale a bunch of miniatures". And in addition, CB refuses on purpose to let us know if, how and when this miniatures will be playable in the regular games, even when asked directly. Do they really expect people to buy hundreds of euros of miniatures that they might not be able to play? Come on...
This is unfair. You should say "I can really feel...", because I don't. You talk about your estimations, as if they are fact. I see reinforcements as an answer to the alphastrike problem. Let's see, what the update will be. I wonder, if you realise, that CB has to sell us miniatures. It is a company. Of course, they try to offer us a system, in which we want to use them. But there is nothing shady about it. I wonder, why they still allow proxies without any bounds than silhouette - this is more concerning to me. In the end, it counters every accusation, their season units etc. are a cashgrab. You have to buy nothing. You do not even have to buy reinforcements. The answer, how and if the exclusive reinforcements miniatures are going to be playable without reinforcements is pending. Maybe, they don't know the answer by now. Seems it wasn't planned in the first place.
I can understand that most people do not have the knowledge or been around for so long to know, but the reinforcements as a concept is something that has been mentioned and worked on for a long time way before N4 existed, in fact back then a major reason why Merovingian was put on ice was because a rule system like the reinforcements was not working in a satisfactory way. So no, it is not that marketing woke up one day and said "make a new game mode with exclusive miniatures", it is something that was been worked on for a really long time. Can reinforcements be better? of course, but I hope that the implementation and the revision and any further revisions can give some appreciation on how difficult is a concept to be implemented to reality sometimes. Lets wait and see what the update will bring.
What I find unfair is being "forced" into buying these miniatures without being sure that you'll be able to play them when ITS15 will be gone. I'm playing Corregidor, not Vanilla Nomads. How can I be sure that Rounders, Marspiders, etc... won't just stay on a shelf after ITS15? This is not OK. We are buying Infinity miniatures to play them. Meh, I can think of tons of better ways to solve alphastrike than this. Increasing the total amount of points of the game and mostly limiting reinforcements to new minis seems first to be a way to sell more minis. And sure, technically you are not forced into buying anything. But if everyone around you start using the reinforcements rules, you'll very probably end up buying the damn box. Also, even if you can proxy everyone, most people won't because most people prefer to play a mini for what it is. This answer shouldn't be "pending". It should have been decided before. I'm pretty sure it actually already is, and the fact that CB choose on purpose to stay silent and to hide their plans from the customers really doesn't feel good. I hope that a lot of people actually feel the same and are reluctant to buy these new boxes, so that CB understands there is something wrong with this. I would be a bit worried if it actually took them "a really long time" to come up with reinforcements because it's quite simplistic and not exactly flawless.
First and foremost: then don't. You aren't forced into buying any miniatures (that is, unless there's Carlos* standing behind you with a gun to your head, in that case, I withdraw my statement). You are free to buy them. You are free to not buy them. You are free to play Reinforcements with proxies. Or scratchbuilds. You are free to not play Reinforcements. Which, judging by what people write on the forum, seems to be, actually a pretty popular option. One, Reinforcements did come before ITS 15, and I don't see the format as being tied to ITS 15. It coexists, but you can just as well play ITS 15 without Reinforcements. As I said above, it seems to be pretty popular to go without REF. Two, any model has the risk of being not playable after the next change in Infinity. Most of them remain okay. For the rest, well, you can put them behind glass as a memento, or you can find another use for them. You're calling in Nomads? Well okay. I have bought the Corregidor Jurisdicitional Command starter in its day, the one from N2HS era, with 1st gen. Wildcats. There was an Intruder with a Combi Rifle in it - a loadout that went the way of the dodo in N4. Should I be camping in CB's kitchen with a banner, refusing to yield until they bring the profile back because I have bought the model to play it? Because that's kind of what you seem to suggest (yes, I'm pulling a reductio ad absurdum here, sorry for that)... Honestly, myself I've just shrugged, wiped a (figurative) tear from my eye over a lost profile, and decided to play it as Intruder MSR / Hacker from there on. Come on, man. I get that you had to get the frustration off your chest, and I do sympathize. I've been at the same place as you are at the start of N3, when my quintet of 1gen Azra'il became useless (due to the unit getting S2 to S5 change)**. But in the long run, getting all frustrated will give you nothing save for digestive problems and bad sleep. Time to stop worrying about such things :) * because if we're talkign about Infinity, one can always blame Carlos. One or another Carlos, they seem to have enough of them on the team ;) ** I've eventually found an alternative use for them - as Riot Grrls in my StarCo. It even made me buy a 6th one.
I already answered all that above, you didn't read my message properly. And I wrote "forced", with quotemarks. I had a 6 months Infinity break and I missed that ITS15 and reinforcements are two separate things, thanks. Sure, any model has the risk of being not playable. But in practise, it only concerns a tiny portion of all models, and even less of your own models. Here, we are speaking of dozens of brand new models that we know nothing about what will happen next. And it's not exactly the same to have to proxy a combi Intruder as a non-combi Intruder compared to a bunch of minis that you can't just play at all with you're sectorial. And I definitely don't buy and paint minis to "put them behind glass as a memento". How about you stop being so patronizing, like right now? Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion and it's not because you think something is not a big deal that it is not a big deal.
And he has his one too, valid the same as yours. You started imposing your opinion as definitive and universal. He claimed it's not and even supported with his real life experience. And, as YOU wrote, it's not because you think something is a big deal that it is a big deal
ROFL. Where did I say that? I said that : - I hate it - It feels like it's more made to make money than to improve the game (am I entitled to have feelings or is this also unauthorized?) - It is unfair to "force" people into buying new stuff to play the game without telling them if they'll be able to field them in the future. How is that "imposing my opinion as definitive and universal"? He's the one politely asking me to shut my mouth because there is nothing to worry about. I disagree, spending hundreds of euros and dozens of hours on miniatures that I maybe unable to play in the future is worrying me. That forum is unreal sometimes, I'm more than supportive with CB like 99.9% of the time, but some of you should really accept that they are not beyond criticism, especially when a significant portion of the people share the same doubts.
Glad that we agree I didn't impose my opinion as definitive and universal buddy :) We can now resume some meaningful discussion, namely : 1: Will these models eventually find their way into the main army profiles, either vanilla or sectorials, or is the plan to leave them exclusively as optional "reinforcement: models? 2: Is the plan to keep reinforcements as an optional play style/mode, or is this going to become standard play?
