So playing today, my marut got crit possessed, he then proceeded to climb up 12 inches then jumped off the building so she falls 14 inches and takes a dam 30, she just goes straight to dead and there isn't much i can do but remove the model?

and cry, it doesn't help but is needed.

But that is correct, the actions he took were legal and led to the correct outcome. Regrettably.

Yes, legal. Sometimes the only possibility to acquire Experimental drug is to jump from roof with your own troopers.

It is very difficult to write rules so that you prevent this. Fall damage is supposed to be a risk you take with your troops when moving, and for possessed troops you bet that's a risk your opponent is willing to take - however, how do you write rules so that purely suicidal jumps are prevented? I've got something in mind, but it gets complicated.
Most troops will break their legs just fine by having them jump straight up in the air :)

One day the whole link of fusiliers jumped down. Only one falled unconscious and doctor killed it after 2 rerolls.
So yes, it does not work every time)

to add to this, with the possessed tag rule do the damage increments go up by the possessed tags profile of 4 or by the maruts profile of 6?

By 4 as that is the mov value at the time of falling.

Personally id just make jumps thay result in falls mean they become idle instead.
There are to many hurt friendly models exploits in the jump rules

Danavas + repeater close to the Marut, ARO with Exorcism or counterposession. Making a posessed TAG to suicide is quite the standard tactic... but it's easy to blow up the opponent's game with the really expensive ones, beacuse of Retreat!!!!

Another solution is to come to the dark side and roll an Avatar, which is the only TAG inmunne to POSession. Or avoid the Marut and use Aquiles or the Asuras ;)

You only have to junp if you were at the border when forced to execute the Impetuous movement, if not, it is wasted just to advance that distance to the border...

Did the Marut only have one STR left? Shouldn't that have only done one STR point of damage? Or have I somehow missed a rule about really nasty DAM just killing a model outright?

Aha, I had missed this bit (because my troops always just die when they fall):

"If the ARM Roll is failed, the trooper loses 1 point from its Wounds/STR Attribute and must repeat the ARM Roll until it reaches a state of Dead or passes an ARM Roll."

What if the DAM from a fall was walked back to, say, 5 per MOV increment? Wouldn't that still be some decent risk but allow low-height jumps/falls to be something other than suicidal?

Troops with 6 inches of movement would totally risk the fall. Most of them are Warbands also, like the Krakots, but all are short range like the Dakinis, Achilles... (Tarik doesn't need this, since he has Super Jump... so he would need to fall more than 10 inches XD)

Makes it a bit weird. I think the idea that a fall of over one MOV increment would simply fail the Jump declaration is a good one.

Good points. Okay, how about if you declare Jump, your falls are then half-damage? Much more interesting and encourages Jump in risky situations, which IMO would make for some really cool play situations.

Of course this goes against the blanket simplicity that CB tends to apply in rules these days... but it would make a really cool table-specific terrain rule, on a table with lots of towers that are really close each other (oil derrick for example), or with a lot of elevation gain/loss (a mountainside or a Utah-like/Martian badlands with lots of rock pillars).
