Reread and edited, it seems ok, except for the blue notes.
I have the impression that there are 4 basic orcs and not 3.

Thanks. I think the 4th Orc is the unit leader, same as for the Bucklemen. You called him Bucklemen Guardian, not sure where that was mentioned.

Yep, both Bucklemen and Orcs appear to have 3 mooks and a leader.

Cool miniatures as usual. Haven't decided if I'll get into this game. Need more info on the system and how it plays on the table. The cards and symbol dice are reminiscent of Aristeia!, which is a good thing imho.

Main difference I've seen from the Aristeia! dice (apart from two more sides) is that they're either attack or defend dice, there's none with both hit and block symbols like A! had. They also have hollow hit/block/switch symbols that can on be used if the unit is specialised in that type of roll, and otherwise count as blanks.

I do like the A! style dice though, triggering special abilities with certain results is really cool and not something that can be done very elegantly with linear numbered dice.

So far I love the figures. But to be honest at first I saw no females. It took a while for me to recognize the Surgeon as female. I think one of the orcs is female? There is a reason for over accenting females in a miniature. It to recognize that they are in fact female. I was just putting together some Thorakitai and it took quite a while for me to see one was female.

Anyway, I'm still on the fence as far as rules go but I'm liking the design of the miniatures.

I’m still a bit disappointed in that the game is usual “races trying to commit genocide on each other” games. Yes the Hegemony is Human Elf Dwarf, but even that is pretty “standard” to me. Orcs are also the standard low-tech barbarians and shamans. I really hope the rest has a bit more imagination put into them.

Whispers of Lindwurm 22 - Gen Con Seminar

    Summary
    - Reminder of the contents of the 2-player box (Nordic Alliance vs. Hegemony).
    - Quick introduction to the game's 6 factions, fuller story on the warcrow website and Artworks.
    - Warcrow the wargame is a game of units, and each unit can be formed using one or more miniatures, and certain profiles can join other units, such as a jocker profile.
It's an alternating activation game, and the activation wheel is retained, with proprietary colored dice with symbols, rather like Aristeia and, of course, Warcrow the Dunjeon Crawler. Switch mechanics are also included. Unit positioning will be a key factor in the game, earning Victory Points through Target conquest.
The game will have its own measurement system called The Stride.
    - The miniatures will be made of injected plastic produced in Spain by Corvus Belli, in other words, Siocast.
    - New characters will come in additional expansion boxes, each of which will contain 6 miniatures, 3 per army ( so 3 orcs and 3 imperials).
    - There's an explanation of how alternate activation works, which will be :
The player with the initiative decides who will activate first and who will follow, the order being maintained until the end of the turn, when the initiative may or may not change hands.
    - The Wargame will go on sale at Gencon 2024.

I think it's due to the installation of the new production lines, they've expanded their factory headquarters, so there must have been a delay.

    Report: https://www.farodevigo.es/o-morrazo...mpliacion-nave-castineiras-bueu-86787882.html
Corvus Belli will expand its facilities with a new warehouse on the Castiñeiras industrial estate.

The current headquarters will concentrate production, while the new premises will house offices and warehousing. The company will benefit from the construction of a workshop that has been closed for years.

Corvus Belli designs and produces games and figurines. It is located on the Castiñeiras industrial estate in Bueu. These "crows of war" [the meaning of their name in Latin] are preparing to fly even higher and continue their uninterrupted growth. The company is currently developing a project to expand its facilities and add a new warehouse to the one it already owns in the second phase of the business park. The aim is to gain space to increase production and storage capacity, representing an investment of almost 280,000 euros.

The project will focus on fitting out an existing building on plot 24 of the Castiñeiras industrial estate, which has been closed for years. This is the warehouse formerly occupied by Talleres Grúas Carmen, located at the entrance to the second phase of the industrial estate, just opposite the site of the new modular laboratory to be built by the multinational SGS.

The aim is for the building, once completed, to have a total built area of almost 1,400 square metres spread over two floors. Corvus Belli's current facilities are located on plot 29 in Castiñeiras, between Poliésteres Sobral (currently being rebuilt) and Carpintería Villanueva.

As a result, the warehouse will be entirely dedicated to production needs, while the new facilities will be reserved for offices and warehousing. The plan for the new premises calls for the main activity to take place on the first floor, which will cover an area of over 600 square meters and will be used for the storage of games and figurines. The layout will include a reception area, an employee canteen, changing rooms, toilets, a 3D printing room and a storage room [a space where computer and electronic resources are kept]. The upper floor, meanwhile, occupies an area of over 300 square meters for offices, cabinets and other company services.

The project is currently being processed by the Bueu town council's urban planning department with a view to obtaining municipal planning permission.

However, before undertaking this expansion, Corvus Belli plans to reform the warehouse where its current facilities are located and where it will continue to manufacture figurines and games.

This reform is linked to the consequences of the fire which occurred a year ago in the Poliésteres Sobral warehouse, located next door. A few weeks ago, Poliésteres Sobral presented a project to rebuild its facilities.

According to the latest data in the Ardán Guide produced by the Vigo Free Zone Consortium, the company has over fifty employees and its sales in 2021 exceeded 4.3 million euros, placing it among the 2,500 largest companies in Galicia.

Corvus Belli was founded in Cangas in 2001, and began almost as an adventure of a group of friends working in a family member's factory. Since then, the growth process has never been interrupted. The company moved to the Castiñeiras industrial estate and has now incorporated a second warehouse to accommodate its volume of business. "Infinity", a "realistic science fiction" war game set in a hypothetical future, Corvus Belli defines itself "first and foremost as gamers; passionate gamers who seek the highest quality for their products in terms of design, production and gaming experience". Their flagship product is a war game called "Infinity", set in a hypothetical, realistic sci-fi future. Their main activity is the manufacture of miniatures, representing soldiers and troops from eight different factions or armies in this war game. Buyers purchase these small, disassembled sculptures and can then assemble and paint them as they wish, or as recommended by the "Infinity" creators. They are then ready to take to the battlefield in a game that, as its name suggests, offers infinite possibilities".

I’d missed the battlepack models a few days ago so this Gencon seminar is the first time I’ve seen them. Really like them, especially the Hegemony side, the War Surgeon is excellent. I’m team realistic women, to throw my hat into that fraught ring, and honestly they stood out to me straight away anyway. However, I’m really not enthusiastic to hear they’re gonna be thermoplastic.

I got a good demo yesterday morning before it got super busy, I really like a lot of the design decisions like squad movement only being measured for the leader and the rest of the squad being placed in coherency, and unactivated units getting a free move at the end of the turn. It plays pretty fast even with two newbies involved.

Squads roll one set of dice for the whole squad, with the number and type of dice determined by the squad size. Characters contribute to Squad size, add extra dice, and often add a special ability. If a squad is wiped out the character reverts to their solo profile.

I'd say less lethal then Infinity as seemingly everyone has multiple wounds. No AROs but you can stress a unit to retaliate in melee so you can still kill your opponent in their turn. Each side gets 4 alternating activations per turn and you can take stress to activate a unit more than once.

Morale is a bigger issue than N4. Once you have stress (from losing Combat, activating again, retaliating, etc) equal to your morale (2-4 IIRC) a unit has to test WIP to avoid running away, and they get to try and rally every couple of activations.

The circular turn tracker is cool and helps keep track of neutral units and environmental effects that can happen when someone first controls an objective. We had a giant zombie beast spawn and a cloud of mind-numbing fog. The beast attacked enemies as determined by a chart, and the fog forced any unit inside it to make a Magic Resistance test if they wanted to activate.

Units are fast, potentially covering 30cm per activation. The demo board was 60x60cm and the final game will be designed for 90x90cm or less, it hasn't been finalised what size they want the standard play area to be yet.

Measurement is all done in Strides which is 15mm (half a base) per Stride so you can still use a proper tape measure.

I had a lot of fun and completely forgot to take photos!

Cool, so, with this story of only 7-20 miniatures by army, we're closer to a narrative skirmish than a skirmish wargame, I think.

The demo games had the contents of Operation: Warcrow (which look even more phenomenal in person) plus another squad of Orc Hunters/Bucklemen, and a 2 person squad of Dwarf Rangers/Varank Skinchangers, plus a Ranger and Varank character.

The Varank character, Njord is confirmed to be part of Beyond: Warcrow, I'm guessing the other 5 models with be the Ranger character, two Skinwalkers, and two Rangers.

Model count is currently hovering between 15 and 20 minis in playtesting.

Final comment is a big thanks to Hoopoe who ran my demo herself and is very personable and passionate about the game. She clearly deeply cares about both the game and the setting, and making them the best they can be.

Hoopoe definitely comes across as passionate and enthusiastic in the videos, it’s unsurprising but good to hear she’s the same in person.

Neutral beasts can show up and cause havoc? Was this a mission specific thing or can it happen in any game? Anyone knows details for that?

Still very much WIP, but Hoopoe said it would be determined by the scenario you're playing.

In the demo, the first event (not sure if they were randomised or at Hoopoe's whim) was a big (55-60mm base) zombie monster. It's paced by the inactive player and gets it's an initiative value to show how often it acts. The zombie beast had an initiative of 2, so after every two full turns you roll on a chart to see what it does, such as go after the magician with the most tinge, unit with the most/least Wounds, that sort of thing.

One other thing I've just remembered. Initiative is decided by a face to face roll with a command bonus dependant on your faction (possibly what characters you bring too) after every turn (4 activations each) you enter a new round and initiative goes to the player with the fewest objective points, I'd there's a draw I believe you roll off again.

The demo I played was the fog came out first and the beast was second. Maybe mission specific (different event for different object) or they could make something like classified deck to randomize events?
