Yeah but what Knauf suggesting is that the reinforcements are in their own combat group and show up as combat group 3 functionally for a whole turn before you can shift them to a combat group with other active units in it. So if you spend say 100 points on a single caskuda, then it shows up with 1 order plus maybe tactical awareness and you have a near worthless TAG for a turn that is stuck in a vulnerable position on the table. Which sounds awful, hence my confusion.
By the way, let's not assume Jeong and Bixie are part of the reinforcement forces just because their fluff is in the book, they had to print it somewhere after all.
You know what I found funny? No Fireteam options in reinforcement :-D That could be some interesting twist. On the other hand, I would like the sight of an A-team, coming from the skies and advancing in a formation. But since we dont know how Reinforcement loadouts will turn out... since the NCO-rules are clarified; isn´t every option to get more orders on a unit especially good in small Combat groups? or at least not a disadvantage...? I mean; i see that a single unit with TacAwarness will not run miles or push a lot of buttons, but...I highly doubt that the rules will make the most prominent unit of this expansion a 2-order-meme with no realistic use. Based on what we know atm from the video (and also from previous releases from the last years) is: we now but a fraction. The videos with Carlos (especially the early ones of every kind of release) always tend to be just like feeding crumps of rules that provoke very polerazing discussions on how it will maybe finally turn out. And guess: it works. Again. Same happened with N4. Or the Fireteam Update. Maybe (or very presumably) there will be units with more use in this game mod than others. I highly doubt, that CB will manage to bring all loadouts of all units into the spotlight (hacker-pun intended) with a mod that seem to alter the way of positioning and movement so much. But on the other hand: CB cannot achive that for their main game (which is ok, sort of...), their different missions or special rules (Limited insertion, open mode, and so on)
The Caskuda in particular is probably destined for mediocrity unless CA gets cheerleaders via Reinforcement even cheaper than the ones they have now (come to think of it I can see Netrods and Imetrons actually being limited to this mechanic in the future if it's popular), but units like defensive pieces or Specialists that can do their job in very few Orders might be able to thrive. Ariadna in particular may also make use of any Commlink+ skills to replicate their old redundancy-heavy playstyle, dropping a whole bunch of mediocre gunners, cheerleaders and Specialists into the midfield to each take a risky shot at their objective. Yu Jing's a trickier beast, its elite focus doesn't mesh well with the mechanic's smaller Order pools, but I can see ISS profiting from the increased midfield saturation protected by Kuang Shi advancing during Turn 1.
Spoiler: image Ok we now know it's the HWARANG, it seems like Jujak (knee pads, helmet face ...) edit : And we now know that Sulyong is not a TAG but an elite troop with “truly exceptional combat skills and courage […] strong sense of brotherhood, honor, duty, and loyalty…” They also probably have Terrain : Zero G spécial skills
The Caskuda will probably be a lot cheaper than 100 points, so you'll be able to bring a couple of cheap orders with him. The cheapest Squalos reinforcement profile is 57 points for example.
Yes I'm adult enough to admit when wrong . Today they showed one new troop from PanO with TacAware, so I hope that YJ will get at least one too. The troops shown are in the less than 25pt range. Also, unsurprisingly a new TAG. A little brother of the Squalo. Much cheaper with a great gun. With our luck they will probably not give us a new TAG but will make the Blue Wolf one of the reinforcements. Which I would not feel bad about. Well, I’ll feel bad about not a new TAG but it would be pretty cool for the Blue Wolf getting something like that. Something to note that there will be separate profiles for the troops that are Reinforcement. I’m guessing with different prices and skills. For instance the new PanO commando could have Infiltration in the regular profile but is more expensive.
If you haven't seen, Yu Jing will be today instead of later in the week due to technical difficulties. https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threa...eases-new-heat-wave.42087/page-28#post-458987
Hwarang. First off you will notice its HI but has ARM1 and W1!!! This better be a mistake. Otherwise, he’s just a hackable light infantry. What’s the point of being HI too? So either it’s not HI or the the Wounds is wrong. Or NWI. What was said by them in the video doesn’t totally match what was shown. It was said that they have Mim-6 with Dodge +3. Neither of those show in the profile picture. So lots of Effed up. Finally, our cheaper Frenzy troops! All with EXP CCW! So the replacement for Domaru. I like them but withholding judgment until we know if the ARM, Wounds, etc are correct. Sulyong These guys look great. Especially the FO. I hope he has some sort of forward deployment in the regular list. I’m sad that only the FO has D-charges. Sulsa These are possibly my favorite. Good shooting, Great close combat. The FO is one of those “Do anything” troops. Elite, Specialist, Mines. The downside is the SMG and BS11. But Mim-6 goes a long way to mitigate that. Dokkaebi Only an image but I already like the look at the weapons if correct. Oh the Haetae is something big. He didn't confirm if it's a TAG or not.
Our first frenzy and pitcher :D i think killian looked on the sulsa when they where talking about the hwarang. But i hope there is a mistake in the hwarang profile arm 1 and 1 w is no HI. 2 wounds or NWI and arm 3 are the minimum. And BS 11 for a HI is sad. I think it's weird that there were no profiles for the robot and almost no Information on the Haetae. The Vid ended and i was sitting there like: where is the Rest of it? :D
Bostria Saison something about the Haetae beeing a minitag opposed to the squalo... but as long as there is no confirmation on that i am cautious with what is said.
It's either a TAG or very large HI, going by what Bostria said in the video. The Sulsa hats are very cool, but not enough to make me start playing the baddies!
So, I can be totally off here, probably, but I think the fireteams will only be available if you are using them as Reinforcements. So that means only in tournaments. I’m lucky if I get one a year! Right now, they might not even be available to any sectoral if not playing Reinforcements. So they would be Vanilla only. Also, if you are playing Reinforcements, I’m guessing the core or harris count towards your maximums for teams. So if you are playing White Banner for example, your core is not going to show up until turn 2. I noticed the AVA for the Sulyong doesn't match up between the profile (AVA4) and the teams list (AVA2).
Okay - nice selection of troops and lots of errors in the presentation. The Hwarangs profile seems to be wrong (Kilian was looking at Sulsa). But with Hwarangs you be - theoreticaly able to drop a core of four. But I would say thats not worth the afford. I also assume that the fireteams are shared like the troop maximum of 15. So you have to plan ahead. But as the teams look like you can mix everything from the RF list, you can drop a haris with NCO which makes for 4-5 orders. Sadly no TA here. Hwarangs seem to be combat only, no specialist. But yay frenzy! And EXP CCW. I guess they will get 6-2 and someone in the comments of YT say something about NWI. Sulsas have a nice design and will be the real CC experts with mime -6, dodge on 16 and +2". Sadly they list only one in the box - will it be boarding (CB likes BSG, maybe more then MSR) or hopfully SMG (Edit: In the pic it says Hacker, so SMG). Sulyongs look also nice and will be the shooters, only BS 12 but with L1 visor. They also deliver NCO but are vulnarable with only W1. The box will have SMMR and paramedic, which is not a bad choice. But the BSG FO is more tempting with its B+1. Hayiaa ... ;-) The Beta troop ... hrm ... Dokkabei is a hacker in the box and will provide quick repeater coverage with his pitcher! The big guy will be big HI if I got Bostria right, not a TAG, but capable to blow the squalo away. I assume that most of the troops are only available in Reinforcements because there was no talk about that they will join any sectorial. Maybe with some exceptions. Which will throw up the question: Is it worth to spend money for a 100 pts part time micro sectorial?
They'll have non-Reinforcement profiles too, at the very least in Vanilla. We know from the store description that the Caskuda in Vanilla/Onyx and Max is in PanO, Aleph, and a bunch of Sectorials. I can also see units like the Sulsa having Camouflage, Infiltration, or Forward Deployment on their non-Reinforcement profile, and potentially heavier weapons like an ML or HMG on the Hwarang.
