Not enthusiastic : so we have our first Space Marine (with its morphological inconsistencies) and another TAG not very different from what is already done in the CA. I regret that the Caskuda is not more insectoid: 6 legs, body in 3 parts ...I mean what are these steel wings? No, really not enthusiastic
I'm pretty sure that caskuda has 6 limbs. I see 2 legs, 2 blade arms, and one extra arm holding a gun. It's possible the pose has one arm hidden or not clear because of the low res. But yeah, I was wrong on the size, but it looks like it keeps combat jump+explode. I still hope it is forced to deploy by combat jump to keep its points cost somewhat manageable. Max has always been oversized, even his Aristeia model is ridiculously large and outsizes most S5 models. Him turning into some sort of S6 human tag is on brand. I loved the resculpt. The low res image doesn't do it justice, but there's a lot to love in there.
It just has 2 arms, the gun arm just has a blade as well. The original model only had 2 arms as well. That would be a terrible idea, it makes the model's impact too swingy. You can afford for cheap crap like Rokots and Yuan Yuans to behave like this, not high impact models like TAGs. Not to mention that kind of alpha strike shit is exactly what Infinity needs less of.
Well then, the lore explicitly mentions them deploying by combat jump and exploding on impact, even comparing them to an artillery shell. So combat jump+explode is in. Although with a 12 DAM hit, I think it's riskier for the caskuda than for the people under the template.
DAM 14 and hitting on 9s? At best? Judging by the Squalo and company, you do not want to be an indirect weapon in the Infinity universe!
We don't have actual artillery on Infinity right now, do we? Even a TAG grenade launcher or the missile launchers on drones are more or less in line with mortars and recoilless rifles, aren't they? I wouldn't call a Squalo 'Artillery'.
I'd call it a water balloon cannon. But Explode actually tends to be less effective than shelling the target with the game's pathetic indirect fire, so I'm usually all for it. At least makes for fun moments in casual games when it works. The concept of a Combat Jump TAG coming along is a fair bit more worrying, though. TAGs are basically unstoppable without appropriate screening tools (which are not widely available) and only held back by their vulnerability in reactive turns forcing the TAG player to retreat to safer ground at the end of each turn, an old-style Caskuda could have a Combi Rifle for its main gun and still be one of the deadliest units in the game just by dint of being able to walk up and kill whatever it pleases without worrying about trading with a random Warband. I'm more expecting the Reinforcement rules themselves to explain how the Caskuda can get to the field in a balanced way, rather than using a preexisting set of rules.
It's already the case for the Blackjack, Ratnick or Patchers. It doesn't bother me about Maximus as it's not his biological body but a combat Lhost tailored for him. For his day to day life he just has to jump in another body.
Can't wait to get my hands on that new caskuda, it's a shame that it'll probably be siocast. On the other hand in between the army update and getting my hands on the mini I can proxy it with the Avatar, so that's nice. I too would like it to only have combat jump to keep the cost down, with how rare the EVO hackers are now and the CA one being just about the best value for cost of these and a PH of 13-14 on a caskuda dropping it on 16 or 17 is about as reliable of a combat jump as you'll get, and it's much harder to defend against than parachutist, having even more options to drop on someone's head in CA seems great, and if Caskuda hsa at least a spitfire or an equivalent and not an SMG failing the combat jump wouldn't be too bad.
I like both. Cascuda catches the isectoid design, without beeing too much insectoid cool stance, cool armblades and fortunatly I do not have to buy it, because I do not play CA. Maxi is a buy for me, even he is now alephised and to be honest, I wounder how a body (lhost) fits into this armor. Maybe its just his head? Anyway the whole mini is a cool transition from Aristeia to Infinity.
They both look fantastic! Exrah are not what you see on the outside. Even with the old ones. What you see is an Environmental suit. Previously they looked like organic technology. I wonder if they will still have a vulnerability to E/M? Below is the original. It was a huge beast. It weighed the same as a Maggy.
Ok, I found ONE thing I dislike about the new caskuda: it has a gun in its hand. No problem, I cut it off my avatar's hand, I can cut that gun off the caskuda's hand too.
I will say I’m irked about CA getting another TAG. This will be their 7th. I’m guessing they are catching up to Nomads and PanO. Meanwhile, YJ still at 2 (hoping Daebak has a new TAG!). Maximus looks very much like a Tank character. I can’t tell what the gun on his back is.
As I see it, the armor is his body (Like Asura wearing spandex but being armor 5). Le bare head is just to remind everybody who's kicking their backside.
Yes you are correct but still their technology that looked very organic. I'm not sure there was ever a picture of a true Exrah?
