Even in White Banner, you get the Hundun. In either case, with the Guilang being both as good as it is, as visually distinct as it is, and as integral to YJ/WB's identity, it's nuts that CB only has been so stingy on making sculpts available for them.
Hundun is nice, but, I mostly use the HRL, the sniper is nice but is eh, can't be used as a hexa sniper -3 is not that great of defense such a great model though, the MSV 1 is the one I want to test but have not fielded because it has no model, so for me and my meta Guilang for the same points serves me better, its an MSV1 sniper with mimetism -3 that has freedom of deployment (and mines for that one odd game that they were relevant...).
To me, the Hundun HRL is even less reason to take the Guilang sniper. And for MSV1 there’s’ also the YM AP Spitfire for a point less. For range there’s the missile launcher. Even though I don't care for it, the Kunai for two more points gets you Mim-6. But, it is a cool figure and cool to use.
I’m praying to the buddhas (Guan Yin have mercy!) that for the new Reinforcement rules, we get some new IS. It seems that everyone is getting something. Also, we know that two dead sectorals are getting something new. MRRF and NCA. While IS is not dead, it almost has been. What I’d really like to see is some new and improved Bao. Other than Sun Tze 2.0, there are currently no Bao available in the CB store.
I'm hoping for an ISS Re-re-make (ISS had one during N3) rather than the discontinuations being signs of Reinforcement prep. While it seems like the Reinforcement sectorials aren't going to be actually discontinued, but rather the Reinforcements will be separate units, I do think that there is greater potential for Yu Jing's massive navy to be our Reinforcements. It is a bit odd that such a huge and mobile entity is represented by only two units in game.
I actually dread that. So far I'm not impressed by the two we have. Well, I used to like the Haidao but not much anymore. The sniper is still good in vanilla but I don't like they make fireteams mixed in IA. I've also found the Tian Gou to be nearly worthless. I used them all of them time at first and they did almost nothing. They now make a team mixed and it seemed every time I needed a hacker I had the Jammer, and every time I could use a Jammer I had the KHD! I’m not spending points on taking both! I really just want them to work on what we have rather than another sectoral. However, new profiles are always welcome. If they are good lol. Knowing CB we'll pay +10pts for having 1pt more CC.
Depends on how the rule is implemented, does it not? While I agree that Tian Gou definitely are Premium Basic units, as I wrote, I kind of expect this to be an area of influx for new units across all factions. Haidao has a bunch to offer the other factions while Tian Gou needs a partial rework to work, but that would probably leave 3+ new units. By contrast, unless Reinforcements come with a rule that sectioned off a certain amount of points to be locked into the Reinforcement sectorial (f.ex. the new standard becoming 300/6+100/2 pts) - what would even an ISS political police Reinforcement bring to ISS itself? The presentation video, I believe, talked about having the Merovignia reinforcement regiment supplement MRRF. The two examples we have atm are the rather massive Ariadna having the established MRRF be the reinforcements while the Combined with their fewer sectorials (one of which is basically Combined-aligned NA2) have been flagged for a reinforcement sectorial that has no established units at all. Yu Jing isn't massive in terms of units like Ariadna, rather on the slim side similar to Combined. More unknown units makes sense!
If you're playing pure cores in IA at 300 points you're fucking yourself over. The Haidao doesn't even realistically need to be in a core to be useful in IA either. Stick him in a Haris with a Zhanshi and Son Bae and it's BS13 vs BS14 in a core which is decent enough as a disposable ARO option.
Yu Jing reinforcements will be the Korean themed Daebak force, Jujak are in there but looks like a bunch of new units as well.
It IS COOL to have our ethnic-themed units, but seriously the names, especially DAEBAK, is freaking hilarious to native speakers. Besides, sulsa (술사) has super similar pronounciation with a friggin' diarrhea in Korean.. Our guys are literally rolling on the floor, laughing.
I’m very excited for them! Not as excited re-vitalized IS but this is great! I think the bottom two are remotes. Come on we need translations! So far I've got Sea Dragon for (Sulyong), Predictive (Sulsa), Sloth for (Haetae), Goblin (Dokkaebi), I can’t find one for Hwarang. Sea Dragon sounds cool but Sloth, not so much lol.
So be it. Sulyong (수룡) : Water dragon, perhaps sea dragon Sulsa (술사) : A Spellcaster, Shaman, Mystic Haetae (해태) : Imaginary guardian beast, which resembles a cross-bread between golden retriever and a bear. Dokkaebi (도깨비) : Goblins, Fire-playing Imps, Shapeshifting ones Hwarang (화랑) : A historic title which was gaven to brave young warriors, who led by examples as a warrior and also as an entertainer. It came from our historic nation Shilla.
Hwarang were also the Korean unique unit in Age of Empires 2, a fact my brain remembers even though I've not played that game since I was a teenager! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hwarang
Like I said, Daebak is a slang for something that kicks ass, or situations which is super-duper-awesome. Not really a name for a heavily armored military unit, It's like calling USAriadna reinforcement as a 'Kickassers'.
... Ok to be completely fair I could totally see the USARF creating a "Kickass Battalion," but it'd be more "Dirty Dozen" style.
