Let's go, opening the thread to talk about the new game: Acheron's Fall from Ramper Design. Article: https://infinitytheuniverse.com/blog/acherons-fall-game Ramper Design announces new game based on the Infinity universe by Cora Diz Ramper design, a Spanish gaming brand, signs a collaboration with Corvus Belli to create a new game based on the sci-fi skirmish game Infinity. Ramper Design What started as a part of the wargaming hobby has become the first studio for the creation of board game projects in Mallorca, Spain. The brand carries out all kinds of projects related to the hobby: event organization, podcast, testing, regulations, project management, and board game creation. The Ramper Design team is formed by veteran infinity players and are the creators of the Spanish podcast called Ora Critika about wargames. Their love for this world has led them to create Acheron's Fall. Acheron's Fall Acheron's Fall is a space battle game where players captain large warships in frenetic and dynamic battles. Their figures will be made of high-quality plastic resin. Each player will carry from 1 to 3 ships and it will be playable for 1 vs 1 and multiplayer game modes. Ramon, from Ramper Design, assures that Acheron's Fall <has mechanics that you won't find in any other ship game in the market. It has a very innovative movement system that represents the inertias of the ships on the table using D12 dice. The game includes, among its rules, the resource management of the ships where you will have to distribute energy and crew to perform actions or improve them>. Acheron Falls is based on a chapter in the Infinity backstory surrounding the Aqueron Lock in the Paradiso system. Players will be able to take command of a fleet to protect the Human Sphere from the alien forces of the Combined Army, or from the rapacity of the other great powers. Let's play If you are interested in testing the game, you will be able to do so at the event dedicated to the Infinity universe: Interplanetario, August 18-20, 2023 in Vigo, Galicia; or at Freak Wars, September 16-17 in Madrid. https://www.interplanetario.es/es_es/ These are the confirmed dates for the moment, but the team expects to announce more in the coming months. I can not wait to see this little space battle game, I tested this kind of game with a friend who had the game Fleet Commander (now disappeared) and it was much more fun than a big wargame like Battle fleet. Spoiler: fleet commander The mechanics presented, is very similar to the PC game: Star Hammer: The Vanguard Prophecy, where there is also a movement of inertia and a management of the resources. I hope that there will be public demos on the internet in the near future, because the demos in conventions don't get much feedback on the internet, so we only get an idea of the game at the beginning of the campaign, and it's not very effective in terms of advertising the project.
Very interesting… I was wondering what it would be like. Hope the vendors who partner with CB do some nice space type neoprene mats to go with it!
I'm not very much interested in capital ships games, i'm more of a dogfight guy, but i'll give it a try, probabbly at Interplanetario or FreakWars
I never played such games, but interested a little. Reminds me about the days I was playing X3 on PC. Different genre, but space ships and excitement of this thematic still exists. To be honest, I am a little skeptical about some things in infinity, but I like, how side projects show us other sides of infinity world.
We'll see which direction that one goes. I have dabbled in Firestrom Armada (meh...) and Full Thrust (it has been interesting. At times. One of its movement mechanics used kinda Newtonian mechanics - though I have to admit it was somewhat difficult for us to wrap our heads around, so we sticked to the "cinematic" rules). One problem with space combat games is they have to gloss over the inherently 3-d nature of the gaming space, and have it represented on a flat table...
Just disabling lurker mode to correct this statement, Freak Wars are held the 16th and 17th of september 2023 (meaning it's the next weekend to the one you mention): https://freakwarsmadrid.com/horarios-fw2023
I was said that all the ships for the core are finished, so expect news soon. The safe bet is GenCon, but maybe before that, in an studio update or an interview somewhere?
The Black Labs playtest events at Gen Con mention REM Racers and possibly more, so they're leaving the option open to have it there
