Yesterday I played the Zoe with synchro Pi-Well in a three round tournament (Mindwipe, Rescue & Unmasking) and I have to say they are dope! Well, Pi-Well is dope since all the utility got put into this little remote! He was able to really annoy my opponents in Mindwipe and Rescue. In Unmasking he delivered the necessary Pitcher to win me the game and even shot (B3 Pistol) a core linked Grenzer sniper off his perch! Spoiler: The List M4 VI ... mal wieder Zoe ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 9 1 1 MORLOCK Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Assault Pistol, AP CC Weapon. Glad to hear Sync Pi did well! How did you protect Zoe, having her that close to the action? And did you use Pi-Well’s jammer? If so, how did you use it? [also that’s a nice, complex set of scenarios for a tourney- awesome!]
Pi-Well has an max. 11" action radius around Zoe thus she could always stay in the relative safety of total cover. And the tables provided enough nooks and crannies where Zoe could slither through. I actually used it only in Rescue during one reactive turn. Both attempts failed but Zoe could make use of Pi-Well's Repeater after Pi-Well burnt his Jammer charges.* In the other two games the Jammer acted more as a psychological weapon which either deterred the opponent's troopers from entering a certain area or forced the opponent to declare Reset AROs. Mindwipe is indeed complex, Rescue damn labour-intensive, Unmasking a 1st turn win thing *because of the non-streamlining of declarable actions Hacking Programs and the Jammer don't count as the same declared action despite both are comms attacks
Speaking of Pi-Well: With the new ITS 14 special rule "Tachimotos", Pi-Well gets Tac Aware, ECM: Hacker (-3) and Marksmanship. I guess it's time to finally paint up my Bakunin... :D
I have been playing and painting Bakunin to help me kick my Jazz/Morans addiction. This new improvement for ITS 14 confirms my choices! Pi-Well is probably going to surpass the Vostok as my linkteam Mim -6 trooper of choice. Putting both in one link seems redundant (although I’ll probably try it just to test). I’d rather have a Riot Grrl spitfire along for the ride. Also the Meteor is now a certified bad mofo as well. Unfortunately you lose that Tac Aware order on the turn you land, but still a pretty amazing package. I’ve always enjoyed using the Meteor as an unexpected specialist, a decent Combat Jump repeater carrier, and a hail-mary problem solving tool against dug-in opposing ARO troops. With Marksmanship it’s going to be way nastier at the latter role, and extra EVO orders in missions where you get them will mean free Assisted Jump. Marksmanship on a boarding shotgun seems like a nice synergy, but I’ll probably still go for the combi.
Yeah Nomads made out like bandits with the new ITS rules. We have more units than any other army capable of using those new remote rules. And they can be combat dropped or FTOs as well.
@Hachiman Taro: amazing guide, really enjoyed reading it and it sparked a few ideas for lists in my head. I have found a couple of typos and could post them either here or in DM if you want. Have you guys even considered taking Zoe solo? She doesn't have to be taken together with Pi-Well anymore (since April's fireteam update), but I don't really see why you would want her solo, Pi-Well is amazing and I'd rather take him solo if I could, not the other way around. On the other hand I've always loved running Haris of: Kusanagi Spitfire, Custodier Combi+Pitcher and a Healer with Boarding Shotgun back in N3 and reading through this guide gave me an idea to get back to it and change it up a bit. Kusanagi MR for short ranges Tsyklon Feuerbach to carry a Repeater, put some Pitchers where I might need them and cover long range bands (16-32") Reverend Healer again with Boarding Shotgun to heal, excel at super short range and kill in CC with EXP CCW and for support bring the Custodier with HD+ to utilize Repeaters on Tsyklon for Spotlights and White Noises and then maybe bring in a Vertigo as well since you already have means to Spotlight enemy in weird positions.
In theory, that's a nice looking Haris. Until you realize you're paying 109 points for 3.5 wounds. That's too fragile for my taste, which unfortunately is always the case when considering the Observance.
I'm not saying it's strong. It's versatile in terms of tools, but definitely lacking on the defensive side when it comes to Wounds/Structures. Still firing on base 14s with Spitfire and ODD in Bakunin was a treat for me back in N3, and while it wasn't super competitive it definitely was fun and won me a few games when oponent's realized that Cassandra in Suppressive Fire in Cover gives them -12 and they don't really have anything to answer that kind of threat. I threw yesterday this Haris together wil some Moderators/Riot Grrls Core and I am willing to try it out as it seems to be somewhat viable. I'm not saying there aren't better options, but this specific one doesn't look terrible. 300 Grill Power ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 TSYKLON Feuerbach, Pitcher / PARA CC Weapon(-6). Since at some point next year I will paint up my own Defiance Kusanagi and BSG Reverend Healer just because they're such awesome models, I will keep that list in mind and try it out myself at some point. Let us know your experiences with it!
Giving it more thought, The Haris could use an Engineer with a Servant on the same flank they are in case Tsyklon goes down. I was also considering Vostok to be more durable, but it sort of does the same thing as Kusanagi, but up to 24", so it feels like you're overpaying even more.
It depends on your local meta of course, but overall I've observed a steep increase in MSV1 and MSV2 in N4. While this normally would make Moiras weaker, the built in white noise of the custiodier has actually made them stronger against the current meta. At least in my personal experience.
Observance had it rough in n3 due to sheer volume of cheap shit with smoke and templates. The lesser prevalence in n4 due 15 order cap should in theory help but that shotgun change probably just sticks the boot right back in. I don't dare try them as my main opponent plays haqq and everyone pretty much has a DTW of some description
Wait and see. We haven’t seen a seriously disadvantaged new full faction release in some time. Maybe we’ll see Observance get the built-in hyperdynamics they all deserve. ;) I’m stoked for the rewrite. I began maining Bakunin this year (OFC I’m almost done painting them…) and am absolutely loving how well they deal with template spam so far. Observance Haris is still decent even now, if defended well with Morlocks and an RG ML on overwatch (kinda standard for -any- build for me right now). If they can catch a buff or two, they’ll be balanced okay.
I realised that this part is not updated for awhile. With observance, we have completely different bakunin in hand. Now there is a hacker parachutist, repeater in midtable. and awesome link. Marksmanship gained sniper with neurocinetics. Interesting lt I am having difficult to find any area bakunin is not efficient. We have a new army which is very versatile and lots of options to choose among from. Bakunin seems to me stronger than Corregidor now.
I think you're probably right tbh, be interesting to see the win rates of the events for the 2nd half of the year now bakunin is out in the wild
I'm getting back in after lockdown and I'm pretty happy with n4 + observance Bakunin. I wouldn't say they are more powerful, nothing I've seen breaks the ceiling of riot girl core link and I've had a hard time fitting every tool into a list. Our toolbox got very capable and diverse. If an opponent told me they were playing Bakunin the only thing I could be certain of is it'll be meh bs, weak in the leadership, and hitting below the belt. Exactly how I don't know.
