Hey, does anyone know of a good source of head bits that could be used for Yu Jing / JSA conversions? I know that Statuesque makes some nice head packs of mixed ethnicity, but female only. For male heads I couldn't find anything decent. More ideas for both m&f are welcome.
What sort of heads? Normal heads or armoured ones? puppetwar.eu offer some asian themed heads: Ninja heads: https://puppetswar.eu/product.php?id_product=491 Bushi troopers heads: https://puppetswar.eu/product.php?id_product=305 Bushi heads set https://puppetswar.eu/product.php?id_product=203 Sanurai helmets https://puppetswar.eu/product.php?id_product=141
Normal heads for me. Also thank you for the links to PuppetWar. I'm sure it will help quite a few people looking for conversion heads.
Puppets of war are made more or less for wh40 type of models, so they might be a little to big for infinity conversions. You guys might want to check bits from "Test of honour" by warlord games. I could not find good size comparison with infinity but I'm afraid those might be too small. It's hard to find something suitable...
Another good idea. Thank you for pointing out the size differences so that there wouldn't be any surprises.
I got some heads from puppets wars so heres scale comparison with infinity miniatures: From top left - grunt specops, puppets war, marauder, PW, PW, PW, dog-warrior Grunt, PW, grunt, PW Male heads they fit nicely with the new 3d sculpted minis. For helmeted heads theres basically no scale difference. Female heads are a little bit bigger, but the difference is IMO acceptable. Obviously, all Puppets war heads would be way too big for older infinity miniatures. Quality is also fine, it might not be well visible on these photos but their details are ok.
Thanks for doing that. I'm grateful I got to see the comparison without having to buy some and possibly end up disappointed. Seems like PuppetWar is a good source for Infinity heads if you found what you are looking for.
Loads of Asian style head in Kingdom Death. Not sure how you could pick them up cheap but might be worht checking ebay as people begin to sell of their spares.
@jherazob for the monsters sacrilege for sure but you get loads of survivor parts. I have way more heads than I will need. So many I'm considering a future female only mercenary army using kingdom death replacement heads.
Sounds like a nice idea. It could also make others like me make a desicsion on wether the Kingdom Death series heads would work. Do you know of any models/sets in the series that have asian heads? It would help me funnel/thin my research quite a bit.
I actually have all the models right now as part of a massive commission. Did you want me to take a look and take some pictures? Edit. They're all on sprues... not put together.
What about Malifaux miniatures? They have a wide range of asian figures as well. I'd even consider using Oiran team for karakuri conversions. Can anyone confirm Malifaux minis size?
Oh yeah, the Oiran team should work beautifully for Karakuri. As for scale, this is a display from my local store, with minis from various manufacturers including some Combined Army: Spoiler: Photo of several minis As you can see, both old metal (the Widow Weaver and the Teddy right below The Hulk) and new plastic (all the gremlins) Malifaux are sized nicely enough compared to Infinity, and the main problem with Malifaux minis, that they're engineered with way too damn freaking many tiny fiddly pieces (yes, i'm bitter, why do you ask?), may work very well for your advantage if all you want is to cannibalize them for conversion parts, less need to hack pieces apart if they come pre-hacked. Here's an unboxing of that box showing the sprues
Here you go, guys. I didn't find the heads distinctly "asian", but they have an anime theme to them. Sorry these were late - I got caught up in a deadline last night that I'm not gonna make.
Thank you very much @taylor. I hope that the person who whose deadline you are going to miss will understand the situation. Besides your work will more than make up for it.
Oh yeah. He's fine. He just gets to play with some unpainted models tonight. He'll survive. Lol. It's not a problem - I was trying to move faster than normal and ended up getting a bit done on most of the models rather than getting a few completely finished is all. :)
