Totally overlooked those, I usually just randomize from Comlog. Thanks! Awesome, looking forward to listening to that, then! Specific thoughts would be great on: - Organizing batrep info well on the fly without losing focus on the game. How do you record such good detail without taking a ton of time to do so? (Or -does- it take a ton of time/energy, and that’s glossed out in the writeup?) - If you have a checklist of gameplay elements to include, love to see/hear that. Even if not a formal thing. - What is your method of/goal for post-batrep analysis? That’s one of the parts of your writeups that I find really useful and which draws my interest. - When you read -other- peoples’ batreps, what elements do you appreciate or tend to shy away from? Thanks a lot for being willing to share the meta-knowledge as well.
FYI. "The Worst Timeline" is not available from the Merc Recon homepage. This link from the forum works fine, though. Edit: Ooph. What a rough game. Mental mindset is so important for Infinity and good for you for recognizing that dangers of tilting.
Yeah I'm not proud of being so grumpy about it... I've got another pretty sad game to write up next, where I was _really_ grumpy. It's not a good look, but part of my pledge to myself is to write all these games up, so I have to find something about the game to redeem myself and learn from. It's so weird having such a big backlog, there's like a redemption arc coming, but only I know about it. It's funny. Regarding the homepage thing, it's there, it's just the date is from last year so you gotta go down a few battle reports to get to it. That's the problem with having 16+ battle reports in the queue, sometimes the dates get messed up and then I only realize after I've posted to all the places... I don't want to break all the links by fixing the date, so I erred on the side of keeping the social media/forum links correct and just having it out of order on the site. There are plugins to fix this, but wordpress plugins are kinda notorious for vanishing when life happens to their developer, so I try to not add stuff unless absolutely necessary. I'll keep an eye on future batreps to set the date to the date of publishing, hopefully that will sort it. Good catch, and as always thanks to all the readers.
So nice to see a battle report fielding Druze again. Feels like it's been a long time. Cool game, cool list, cool mission!
@WiseKensai I like the concept of the mission, but I am concerned of the power it gives groups with Hackers and mass access to pitchers. What if the center console allowed a specialist to take over both Guns and made Gun possession contested? That way less hacking factions don't have to brute force it and it promotes conflict in the center?
@burlesford and @theclaw more Druze reports incoming! @Brokenwolf It definitely needs some more playtesting. I had thought about allowing the console to basically let you declare total control when in base to base with a specialist... maybe that's the thing to do? I dunno. The mission will continue to be refined, for sure. Thanks for the feedback! Peek a Krit
@WiseKensai thanks for testing the missions thoroughly before Rose City Raid! Looking forward to playing whatever the final version is.
Okay, after reading the Blockade Runner reports I am really excited to play this. @WiseKensai you mention in the “Tower Defense” report after-analysis that alpha strikes are too favored in Infinity right now. I heartily agree, and am glad to see a mission tuned to make them less favored. However evading the towers is maybe a bit easy if one builds a camo-heavy list for this mission. SEF would have zero problem sneaking past even fairly open towers. No-see-um Nomads too. Either build would gain a pretty outsized advantage from free cover fire with little risk. Might you consider building a Discover action in to their If-then flowchart?
